Page 1, Line 1WHEREAS, Representative Hugh Monroe McKean was born on
Page 1, Line 2October 27, 1967, to Michael and Janet McKean in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and grew up on a farm in northern Missouri; and

Page 1, Line 4WHEREAS, Representative McKean settled in Colorado,
Page 1, Line 5graduating from Colorado State University in 1996, and worked as an independent residential contractor across northern Colorado; and

Page 1, Line 7WHEREAS, After moving to Loveland, Colorado, Representative
Page 1, Line 8McKean devoted himself to raising his two young children and went on
Page 1, Line 9to become active in local government, serving his community on a charter school board and a school district master planning board; and

Page 2, Line 2WHEREAS, Beginning in 2009, Representative McKean served
Page 2, Line 3on the Loveland City Council for two terms, during which time he
Page 2, Line 4demonstrated his "love of helping neighbors, supporting his community, and finding durable solutions to local and regional problems"; and

Page 2, Line 6WHEREAS, Representative McKean was first elected to represent
Page 2, Line 7Colorado House District 51 in 2016, and went on to serve for six years in
Page 2, Line 8the House of Representatives, where he worked tirelessly to build a better
Page 2, Line 9future for every Coloradan and was an effective lawmaker, with over 50 of the bills he sponsored being signed by the governor; and

Page 2, Line 11WHEREAS, In 2020, Representative McKean was elected leader
Page 2, Line 12of the Colorado House Republican Caucus and gained a reputation as
Page 2, Line 13someone whose "ability to forge genuine connections with people [and]
Page 2, Line 14educate himself on the deep details of public policy, combined with his
Page 2, Line 15infectious sense of humor, boundless energy, and innate curiosity of a
Page 2, Line 16seven-year-old, made him not only an effective legislator but an invaluable colleague and friend"; and

Page 2, Line 18WHEREAS, Representative McKean passed away on October 30, 2022, three days after his fifty-fifth birthday; and

Page 2, Line 20WHEREAS, At his memorial, attended by hundreds of colleagues,
Page 2, Line 21family, and friends as he lay in state in the capitol rotunda, Representative
Page 2, Line 22McKean was remembered as someone whose "laughter filled the state capitol, but not as much as his heart"; now, therefore,

Page 2, Line 24Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the Seventy-fifth General Assembly of the State of Colorado, the Senate concurring herein:
