After consideration on the merits, the Committee recommends the following:
SB26-037 be amended as follows, and as so amended, be referred to the Committee of the Whole with favorable recommendation:

Page 1, Line 6 "(c) When a chief judge elects to utilize judicial officers

Page 1, Line 10conduct the hearings during the time slot assigned to that

Page 1, Line 16judicial officers conduct weekend and holiday bond proceedings
Page 1, Line 17simultaneous to other bond proceedings being conducted by the
Page 1, Line 18bond hearing officer staff that would have heard the
Page 1, Line 19proceeding had the chief judge not elected to use their own
Page 1, Line 20judicial officers.
Page 1, Line 21(d) If a judicial district elects to utilize its own judicial
Page 1, Line 22officers to preside over weekend and holiday bond hearings
Page 1, Line 23pursuant to this subsection (2.5), the chief judge of the judicial
Page 1, Line 24district shall designate, on an annual basis, whether the
Page 2, Line 1district will utilize bond hearing officers or judicial officers
Page 2, Line 2from the district to preside over the bond hearings. The
Page 2, Line 3designation must remain in effect for the entire calendar year
Page 2, Line 4and must not be changed during that year.".
