Page 1, Line 8United States, with over 200,000 registered in Colorado, and are used on
Page 1, Line 9public roads and highways, providing reliable day-to-day transportation

Page 2, Line 2WHEREAS, Because of their light weight, fuel efficiency, and low
Page 2, Line 3impact on our highways, motorcycles should be encouraged as a viable transportation alternative; and

Page 2, Line 5WHEREAS, Motorcycles take up less space on our highways and parking areas thus reducing traffic congestion; and

Page 2, Line 7WHEREAS, Motorcyclists are provided legal access to federally
Page 2, Line 8funded High Occupancy Vehicle lanes to increase traffic flow while giving motorcyclists a safer environment for travel; and

Page 2, Line 10WHEREAS, Riders and passengers of motorcycles face countless hazards and unforeseen circumstances on the road; and

Page 2, Line 12WHEREAS, 162 motorcyclists were killed on Colorado roadways last year; and

Page 2, Line 14WHEREAS, State and national "Share the Road" campaigns have
Page 2, Line 15been created to remind drivers of other vehicles and all motorists to be extra alert in order to increase motorcyclists' safety; and

Page 2, Line 17WHEREAS, Studies show that many motorcyclists involved in accidents were without formal rider training; and

Page 2, Line 19WHEREAS, Many causes of motorcycle crashes may be attributed

Page 2, Line 21characteristics and limitations of motorcycles, as well as the failure of other motorists to share the road with motorcyclists; and

Page 2, Line 24commitment to increasing awareness of appropriate safety measures and increased participation in rider-training programs; and

Page 2, Line 27Colorado, both for beginner and experienced riders to prepare them to operate a motorcycle in the safest possible manner; and
