The bill extends the Emily Keyes - John W. Buckner organ and tissue donation awareness fund indefinitely.

Page 2, Line 1SECTION 1. Legislative declaration. (1) The general assembly finds and declares that:
Page 2, Line 2(a) The Emily Keyes - John W. Buckner organ and tissue donation
Page 2, Line 3awareness fund ("fund") has helped to drive more than 15 million donor registrations in Colorado since its inception in 2007;
Page 2, Line 4(b) Since 2010, the fund has provided transplantation science
Page 2, Line 5educational course training for 122,436 Colorado students in 4,847 classrooms;
Page 2, Line 6(c) Over the last decade, the fund has printed and distributed over 10 million educational materials at 1,844 community events;
Page 2, Line 7(d) 9,369 life-saving transplants were made possible by heroic
Page 2, Line 8donors in Colorado's service area since the fund's inception in 2007, and
Page 2, Line 9the number of transplants completed has been rising every year for the past 12 years; and
Page 2, Line 10(e) Donor Alliance, the federally designated nonprofit organ
Page 2, Line 11procurement organization in Colorado, has successfully operated as a
Page 2, Line 12fiduciary agent of the Emily Keyes - John W. Buckner organ and tissue
Page 2, Line 13donation awareness fund since 2010, and Donor Alliance has provided
Page 2, Line 14and will continue to provide all in-kind administrative support for the
Page 2, Line 15fund. Donor Alliance supplements the initiatives of the fund with more than the total amount the fund earns each year.
