CONCERNING THE DESIGNATION OF MARCH 17, 2025, AS COLORADO FFA DAY.

WHEREAS, The Colorado FFA is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education; and

WHEREAS, Founded in 1928, the Future Farmers of America brought together students, teachers, and agribusiness to solidify support for agricultural education; and

WHEREAS, In 1988, the official name was changed to the National FFA Organization; this change was made to recognize that FFA is not only for those interested in farming but also for those with more diverse interests in the agriculture industry, encompassing science, business, and technology, within and to support production farming; and

WHEREAS, The Colorado FFA Foundation seeks human, financial, and in-kind resources to support agricultural education in Colorado for secondary and postsecondary students, adults participating in agricultural education, teachers of agricultural education, and FFA alumni; and

WHEREAS, There are opportunities within the Colorado FFA Association for all members in grades five through twelve and in college to be involved in leadership and agriculture career development; and

WHEREAS, Whether a member grew up on a farm, in a suburb, or in an urban area, if they have a passion for judging and public speaking, want to explore the depths of agriscience, or get hands-on experience working in the industry, they are able to acquire such experiences through the diverse opportunities of agricultural education and the FFA; and

WHEREAS, We recognize that the Colorado FFA Association and Foundation are growing leaders, building communities, and strengthening agriculture through youth development; now, therefore,

Be It Resolved by the Senate of the Seventy-fifth General Assembly of the State of Colorado, the House of Representatives concurring herein:

That we, the members of the General Assembly, proudly recognize and designate "Colorado FFA Day" on March 17, 2025, in celebration of the many students who have gone and continue to go through the FFA program.

Be It Further Resolved, That copies of this Joint Resolution be sent to

the Honorable Governor Jared Polis, Colorado Commissioner of Agriculture Kate Greenberg, and the members of the Colorado Congressional Delegation.
