The bill requires that health insurance policies for maternity care include prenatal care coverage without cost sharing.

Page 2, Line 1SECTION 1. In Colorado Revised Statutes, 10-16-104, add (3)(a)(VII) as follows:

Page 2, Line 3- applicability. (3) Maternity coverage. (a) (VII) For policies
Page 2, Line 4providing maternity coverage pursuant to this subsection (3)
Page 2, Line 5that are issued or renewed on or after January 1, 2027, the
Page 2, Line 6policy must provide coverage without cost sharing for prenatal
Page 2, Line 7care, including regular office visits, screenings, testing, and monitoring services.
Page 2, Line 8SECTION 2. Act subject to petition - effective date -
Page 2, Line 9applicability. (1) This act takes effect January 1, 2027; except that, if a
Page 2, Line 10referendum petition is filed pursuant to section 1 (3) of article V of the
Page 2, Line 11state constitution against this act or an item, section, or part of this act
Page 2, Line 12within the ninety-day period after final adjournment of the general
Page 2, Line 13assembly, then the act, item, section, or part will not take effect unless
Page 2, Line 14approved by the people at the general election to be held in November
Page 2, Line 152026 and, in such case, will take effect January 1, 2027, or on the date of
Page 2, Line 16the official declaration of the vote thereon by the governor, whichever is later.
Page 2, Line 17(2) This act applies to health insurance policies issued or renewed on or after the applicable effective date of this act.
