Concerning requiring community-based organizations that are recipients of the statewide welcome, reception, and integration grant program to prioritize migrants who have arrived in the United States within the past three years.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Colorado:
SECTION 1. In Colorado Revised Statutes, 8-3.7-201, amend (1)(f) as follows:
8-3.7-201. Definitions. (1) As used in this part 2, unless the context otherwise requires:
(f) "Migrant" means an individual who has arrived in the United States within the past year and does not qualify for federal support services or refugee resettlement assistance benefits.
SECTION 2. In Colorado Revised Statutes, 8-3.7-202, amend (2) introductory portion as follows:
8-3.7-202. Statewide welcome, reception, and integration grant program - created - rules. (2) Grant recipients shall prioritize migrants who have arrived in the United States within the past three years and shall use the grant award for one or more of the following services and programs, including, but not limited to:
SECTION 3. Safety clause. The general assembly finds, determines, and declares that this act is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, or safety or for appropriations for the support and maintenance of the departments of the state and state institutions.
