Concerning eliminating the requirement for annual reprinting of laws concerning education, and, in connection therewith, reducing an appropriation.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Colorado:

SECTION 1.  In Colorado Revised Statutes, 22-2-112, repeal (1)(i) as follows:

22-2-112.  Commissioner - duties - report - legislative declaration. (1)  Subject to the supervision of the state board, the commissioner has the following duties:

(i)  To cause to be reprinted annually laws enacted by the general assembly concerning education, in accordance with the provisions of section 24-1-136, C.R.S., and to furnish copies thereof to interested persons. All publishing costs therefor shall be paid out of the state public school fund pursuant to section 22-54-114 (5).

SECTION 2.  In Colorado Revised Statutes, 22-54-114, repeal (5) as follows:

22-54-114.  State public school fund. (5)  All publishing costs associated with the annual printing of the laws enacted by the general assembly concerning education shall be paid out of the state public school fund.

SECTION 3.  Appropriation - adjustments to 2025 long bill. To implement this act, the cash funds appropriation from the state public school fund created in section 22-54-114 (1), C.R.S., made in the annual general appropriation act for the 2025-26 state fiscal year to the department of education for use by management and administration for reprinting and distributing laws concerning education is decreased by $35,480.

SECTION 4.  Effective date. This act takes effect July 1, 2025.

SECTION 5.  Safety clause. The general assembly finds, determines, and declares that this act is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, or safety or for appropriations for the support and maintenance of the departments of the state and state institutions.
