Bill Summary

(Note: This summary applies to this bill as introduced and does not reflect any amendments that may be subsequently adopted. If this bill passes third reading in the house of introduction, a bill summary that applies to the reengrossed version of this bill will be available at http://leg.colorado.gov.)

The bill prohibits a peace officer from asking a driver or passenger if they know the reason for the traffic stop, and requires the peace officer to inform the driver of the reason for the traffic stop unless it is unreasonable under the totality of the circumstances.

A peace officer's failure to comply with the bill is not grounds for exclusion of evidence or dismissal of a charge.
