Under existing law, the department of corrections is required to develop and implement initiatives specifically designed to assist each offender's transition from a correctional facility into the community. The bill adds peer-to-peer behavioral health services programs as a component that may be included in an initiative.

Page 2, Line 2SECTION 1. In Colorado Revised Statutes, 17-33-101, amend (5) introductory portion, (5)(e), (5)(f), and (9); and add (5)(g) as follows:

Page 2, Line 8developed and implemented pursuant to this subsection (5) may include, but need not be limited to, the following components:
Page 2, Line 9(e) Consolidation and expansion of emergency assistance contract
Page 2, Line 10funding to effectively provide assistance to parolees in the community;
andPage 2, Line 11(f) A program to provide medication-assisted therapies to eligible offenders; and
Page 2, Line 12(g) A peer-to-peer behavioral health services program.

Page 3, Line 4that, if a referendum petition is filed pursuant to section 1 (3) of article V
Page 3, Line 5of the state constitution against this act or an item, section, or part of this
Page 3, Line 6act within such period, then the act, item, section, or part will not take
Page 3, Line 7effect unless approved by the people at the general election to be held in
Page 3, Line 8November 2026 and, in such case, will take effect on the date of the official declaration of the vote thereon by the governor.
