In 2023, the general assembly authorized certain public hospitals to enter into collaborative agreements with other hospitals or hospital affiliates to engage in activities to increase access to health care. The bill authorizes private, nonprofit hospitals with fewer than 50 beds to also enter into collaborative agreements.

Page 2, Line 5declaration - definitions - rules. (2) As used in this section, unless the context otherwise requires:
Page 2, Line 6(e) "Hospital" means a facility with fewer than fifty beds that is:
Page 2, Line 7(II) A hospital established, maintained, or operated directly or indirectly by a health service district;
orPage 2, Line 8(III) A hospital affiliate; or
(IV) A private, nonprofit hospital.

Page 3, Line 6that, if a referendum petition is filed pursuant to section 1 (3) of article V
Page 3, Line 7of the state constitution against this act or an item, section, or part of this
Page 3, Line 8act within such period, then the act, item, section, or part will not take
Page 3, Line 9effect unless approved by the people at the general election to be held in
Page 3, Line 10November 2026 and, in such case, will take effect on the date of the official declaration of the vote thereon by the governor.
