This course is self-paced and self-study. That means you can work at your own pace. It is made up of five modules, full of short videos, reading and assignments. In the first module, we're going to talk a little bit about the market you're working with. We're gonna cover a short history of indie publishing. We're gonna talk about why authors decide to self-publish and where editors can help indie authors. Then we're going to listen to some case studies of our target market and figure out what we learned from them. In the second module, we are going to talk marketing. We're going to define specifically who we wanna target, figure out how to show that client what we bring to the table, and talk about cold emailing and creating a sustained presence so clients see and remember us, and there will be exercises that can help you come up with some ideas. In the third module, we are going to cover the basics of what you put on your website. You'll come out of that with a draft of your web copy. In the fourth module, we're going to talk about how to make the most of queries. We're going to cover how you can make sure you fully understand a project's needs, determining if you're the right person for the project, how to come up with a fair price, and how to present a proposal to the author, all while making the author feel heard and valued. And in the last module, we're going to cover some best practices for what happens after the client says yes to your quote. We're going to talk about why and how to put agreements in writing, giving your author feedback they can put into practice, and how to continue to foster positive working relationships with your clients.
