Video Transcript of What You'll Learn from Tanya Gold's Course Editing Memoir

This course will cover genre considerations of memoir. It'll teach you how to apply your existing editing skills to this genre. 

My approach is author-centric and specifically designed for working directly with authors, both authors who are self-publishing or looking to have their work published traditionally.

That said, most of what we'll cover is transferable to those of you working at or with publishers. 

In the first module, we're going to talk a little bit about what defines memoir as a genre. In the next one, we're going to cover how to understand the author's intent and reader expectations for memoir. In the third module, we're going to talk about how to apply all this in finding and refining the structure in the story.

And in the last module, we're going to talk about reflecting that experience in the prose and memoir that goes beyond a traditional linear narrative.
