Once the fine woodworking cabinets meaning dries and the face frame is glued to woodwor, ing front of the box, the screws serve very little purpose. What makes a Quality Craftsman Erick apprenticed in college at a locally-owned company that specialized in old-world craftsmanship before moving to Scottsdale, Arizona. Drilling all of the pocket holes and pilot holes in the different parts of fine woodworking cabinets meaning cabinet box is probably the most time consuming part of building the box. I'm a passionate woodworking enthusiast of over 30 years, with an interest in the methods of pre-industrial joiners and cabinetmakers. But when constructing my kitchen this becomes an issue for me.

However, they really only need to hold the cabinet sides together until the glue dries and the face frame is added. Once the glue dries and the face frame is glued to the front of the box, the screws serve very little purpose. At this point, the cabinet box is done. If I had the space, I could have finished all of the boxes for all of the base cabinets in a single day, because once the machines are set up, you can just run all the parts for that setup.

I'm a passionate woodworking enthusiast of over 30 years, with an interest in the methods of pre-industrial joiners and cabinetmakers. I'm a furniture maker, teacher, and author, and I share my thoughts and experiences with the goal of educating and inspiring others who are pursuing the craft of traditional woodworking. In addition to writing about and teaching traditional woodworking, I also build commission pieces for customers, and speak at woodworking shows and seminars. How do I cut and square plywood sheets and what tolerances do I need?

Do you use a track saw, only the table saw or some other method? But when constructing my kitchen this becomes an issue for me. So all help regarding this would be helpful. I only use the table saw to cut the plywood panels.

The factory edge is decent enough to make sure the cut is straight. This is the width of the base cabinet sides. Just not worth it to me. In fact, the only reason I even have the table saw is for these cabinets.

Drilling all of the pocket holes and pilot holes in the different parts of the cabinet box is probably the most time consuming part of building the box. But it will be just as strong as a box made using traditional dado joinery.

When the side of the cabinet will be visible after installation, such as at the end of a run, I attach the cabinet bottom from underneath using glue, clamps and pocket hole screws.

This side of the cabinet will be hidden from view after the cabinet is installed, so I add glue to the cleat and end of the cabinet bottom, clamp everything in place to ensure there are no gaps, drill pilot holes and drive the screws right through the side of the cabinet. The bracing is glued and clamped in position. The clamp keeps the brace from moving when the screws are driven.

Once the screws are driven, the clamp can be removed. First, it helps keep the front opening of the cabinet box from bowing in, messing up the drawer opening.
