So we're going to jump right into where we were.
We're talking about holding our ground, so to speak.
Once we get deliverance, we have to hold that deliverance.
And that to me is more crucial than getting deliverance,
because anybody can get delivered,
but it's going to take growth, it's going to take maturity,
it's going to take effort to hang on to that deliverance,
because Jesus told us and it'll show up in here in this booklet a little later.
If you read it through already, you're there already, you saw it.
But Jesus told us when spirits get cast out, they come back around because they want back in.
And we haven't talked about that in depth and we won't even in this booklet.
In the next booklet or as we go into the actual,
let's just really talk about all the details of this,
we'll talk more in detail about them getting back in, how they get back in,
why they want back in, things like that.
But they're going to come around and want to get back in.
And you don't want that to happen.
If that happens, that can end up being worse for you than if you'd never got delivered.
Peter said it this way, he said, I think it was Peter.
I don't think it was James, it was Peter.
Sometimes I confuse those two and what the content is of their books.
But if someone gets saved and then backslides,
it's like a pig going back to the wallow or a dog going back to the vomit.
It's better not to go back because it gets messier and uglier if you go back.
And when it comes to deliverance stuff especially, it gets messy.
So did we quit on page 11 or did we quit on page 14?
Can you tell me?
I think it was page 11. Do you remember?
Okay, we'll jump in on 11.
Now the top part there, it talks about our bodies being our land
and we're going to look at it in Exodus and then we're going to look at it in Deuteronomy.
But the top part, letter A and so forth, we've gone over that.
That would be just review. Let's not touch that.
Letter B, the picture of the Old Testament, promise land applies to us and our physical bodies, our land.
Number three, I'll just point out some of this.
If you have questions about other stuff, bring them up in the questions and answers time.
Otherwise, we'll just bounce through this and I'll point out certain things.
Number three, under B on page 11, our flesh cannot be made new like our spirit
or renewed sanctified like our soul.
The flesh has to be ruled and controlled.
Its desires and misdeeds are to be put to death.
As long as we are in the flesh, it will fight us.
It will never be sanctified. It will never be changed.
It is fallen and it will fight us.
We get stronger to where we can rule it and put its desires to death, so to speak.
But it will never, our flesh will never really desire God.
That's why we have to have a new body.
And Paul in 1 Corinthians 15 says corruption cannot inherit incorruption.
We have to have a new body to make this happen.
And since our body, our temple is where they live, the demonic spirits.
They don't live in our spirit. They don't live in our soul.
They live in our temple where we're living in.
Since they live in that, we have to understand the only way you get them out is you rule the body.
You can't get the body good enough that the body will keep them out, because the body will never keep them out.
It's like a landing pad.
So I just wanted to point that out.
Number four, like in the land of Egypt, the flesh, our old nature, made us slaves to sin.
And there's a couple of scriptures there for that.
However, by grace, just like the promised land, we can be set free from the slavery that comes via our bodies.
And there's the scriptures that help support that.
Page 12, those scriptures aren't page 12.
Let us see.
Since sin gives the legal right to the demonic realm to enter our land, our flesh,
we can be set free of them if we reclaim our land.
When they have right, it's called sin ground.
They have a legal right to inhabit our temple with us, letter B under one there.
That's why we need to deal with our old nature or fleshly desires and control them or kill them.
If not, if we don't do that, they become the reason demons can continue to mess with us.
That is in a nutshell, that's how you hold your land, right there in a nutshell.
We have to learn how to deal with our old nature, our fleshly desires and control them or kill them.
If, for instance, let's just take an example.
We'll use something simple.
Let's say that someone had a spirit of lying.
It wasn't that they just were liars.
I mean, this was like a compulsive, obsessive, overwhelming.
They just can't tell the truth.
And there's a spirit there helping them.
So you get them deliverance and you get those spirits out.
They now are going to have to be renewed in the mind and they're going to have to control the desire of the flesh to lie.
You can't get delivered, go right back into lying and expect to stay clean.
It won't work.
And there is a wartime that goes on there. It's under letter D.
If during the wartime of overcoming something in your life, you sense that something has gained access to your body or flesh again.
Because you can feel it for people who, for people, it's a bad way to say it, for us.
When we, it's like I went home and drove up with Mary last week.
I said, at some point I said, you know, I know for a fact with this many people, there's all kinds of demons sitting here.
There's people who got demons.
You should have seen the shocked look in some of your faces like, that can't be.
We're talking about everybody out there. No, we're talking about us here.
Yeah, them too, but us too. So don't, don't, it's not like we're all that holy and clean either.
When you have something leave, you can usually feel it and sense the difference.
Once you're free of it, you can usually sense or feel if it comes back.
In that wartime of you're growing, you're being sanctified, your mind is being renewed.
You're learning how to stop that first impulse, like the example we use lying.
When you get back in the corner, you're learning how to be honest and not just go with that first fleshly desire of,
I'll just blow some lie out here and make it up and get out of this.
You're learning how to stop that.
Well, during that period of time, my experience is we can mess up good enough, they come back in.
Well, you could feel that.
So don't just, well, I messed up, now I guess I got him back.
No, no, no, no, no. Confess your sins.
He is faithful and just to forgive and to cleanse you from all unrighteousness.
So you start by confessing and then if something has gained access to you, do self-deliverance.
Submit yourself to God. Go back through it.
Say, God, I am so sorry. I confess the fact. I lied.
I went back and did the same old thing I've always been doing.
And I ask forgiveness for that and I repent of that.
You're submitting back to God. I want truth.
James 4-7. And I refuse this lying thing.
I am going to beat this. I'm going to get past this.
And I'm resisting it. And I want it out of my life.
So whatever or whoever you are, I can feel you in here with me.
And you can. If you're paying attention, you can feel them.
I want you out. I am clean again according to his word.
He's cleansed me and he's forgiven me.
So you've got no reason to say, get out and kick him back out.
Don't just settle for OK. Well, here we are. We're in trouble again.
No, it's a fight of faith. Hold your land.
Page 13. A large reason why I don't cast everything out for people
is because if I'm ongoingly doing deliverance with them,
they won't grow in their own faith and their own authority.
It's like I need someone else to do this for me.
You'll never hold your land in that mentality.
You have to learn to do it for yourself and stand your ground
and say, notice in, stand in your authority, get rid of them.
Number four, the last thing I'm trying to do is create dependence on us.
Where's Pastor? He needs to cast something out again.
Well, why don't you?
I'm trying to create disciples.
People who know how to do this, not only for themselves,
but then they can help others with it also.
It's a process. Letter E can be a process of learning how to do that.
Gain control of your ground and hold your ground,
but it's a necessary process for those three things.
It sanctifies and strengthens us. It matures us.
It teaches us war, which we'll see that here in just a little bit.
So let's jump to page 14 and go look at it.
If you get questions while I'm talking,

and when we get to Q&A time, bring them up.
Exodus 23, I'm going to read the scriptures
and then make brief application.
Probably won't read all the application, but at least the scriptures.
Behold, this is the children of Israel heading for the Promised Land.
Behold, I send an angel before you to keep you in the way
and to bring you into the place which I have prepared.
Beware of him and obey his voice.
This angel, do not provoke him
for he will not pardon your transgressions for my name is in him.
But if you will indeed obey his voice
and do all that I speak,
then I will be an enemy to your enemies
and an adversary to your adversaries.
So this is talking about the Israelites heading for the Promised Land.
The angel there, if you go in and study that in commentators,
especially any place that says the angel of the Lord,
they say that is a pre-incarnate visit of Jesus Christ.
So the angel specifically he could be referring to here was actually Jesus.
Because Jesus had the ability, verse 21, to forgive and pardon sin.
Even before he died on the cross.
When the sacrifices were made, they were covered.
It was good as forgiveness.
Angels don't have that ability.
So this was very likely in the actual event talking about Jesus.
However, the picture of it number two there is the Holy Spirit.
Because Jesus doesn't do those things with every single person anymore.
He sent his spirit to be his representative and do those things with us.
Here is the key to driving out or driving demons out of our land and keeping them out.
It's following and listening to the Holy Spirit.
If we disobey him, no forgiveness or freedom are given to us.
If we obey him, he will be an enemy to our enemies.
The New Testament confirmation of that number three.
Jesus said he drove out spirits by the finger of God,
which was the Holy Spirit.
And there are the two verses where Jesus said that.
So the process of getting us into the land and getting us free.
Is led by the Holy Spirit.
Now, Jesus personally could have been there helping them.
But the picture for us is the Holy Spirit.
And I want you to see something here.
I didn't put it in your book, but I want you to see something here.
Verse 21, beware of...
Let's just put the Holy Spirit in there for our sake.
Beware of the Holy Spirit.
Obey what the Holy Spirit is trying to tell you.
Don't provoke him.
So you can grieve the Holy Spirit.
You can quench the Holy Spirit.
You can insult the Holy Spirit.
There's a number of things you can do the Holy Spirit
that we're warned about in the New Testament.
Don't do those things, for he will not pardon your transgressions.
For my name is in him.
And if indeed you obey him,
then I'll work with you an enemy against your enemies.
Do you know that in the Old Testament,
willful sin,
was not forgiven.
The sacrifices were for unintentional sin,
or sins of ignorance.
If you go to, I believe,
I'd have to get my iPad out.
I believe it's Numbers 14,
and maybe I should bear with me.
I didn't bring it out because I didn't think
I was going to go this direction,
but I'm going to bring this up.
And hopefully I find it quickly and easily.
Because this is a principle that many Christians
don't understand.
We think that we can just sin and do whatever we want.
And all we have to do is just run back to God
and ask forgiveness.
And we are automatically immediately forgiven.
That is not the picture of the Old Testament,
nor is it the picture of the New Testament.
Let's see if I can find it.
Let me find it a different way.
You know, sometimes I miss my hardcover Bible
because I had that for so many years,
and I have all these things noted and marked
and when I want them.
I can see where it's at on the page in my Bible.
It's on the left-hand side in that first column.
And it's talking about intentional or unintentional sin.
And I think that's the NIV where it says that.
It's not the King James.
So let me look for it in the NIV here.
We are taking a little time on this,
but I think at this juncture this is important.
I want you to see this.
Some of you might know where it's at,
and if you do, don't hold out on me.
Feel free to speak up and tell me exactly where I find it.
It's Numbers 15, not 14.
It's Numbers 15, starting at verse 22.
So he's talking about, if you go previous to that,
he's talking about various offerings,
and he's been talking about how you bring the sacrifices,
you bring the offerings.
These are the things that would take care of the sin
until Jesus came and actually washed it away with his blood.
Verse 22,
Now if you unintentionally fail to keep any of these commands,
the Lord gave Moses any of the Lord's commands to you
through him from the day the Lord gave them
and continuing through the generations to come.
If you unintentionally fail to keep any,
and if this is done unintentionally,
verse 24,
without the community being aware of it,
then the whole community is to offer a young bull
for a burnt offering and aroma pleasing to the Lord
along with the grain offering
and all the different offerings.
Verse 25,
The priest is to make atonement
for the whole Israelite community.
They will be forgiven for it was not done intentional
and they have brought to the Lord
for their wrong and offering made by fire,
sin offering, etc.
I'm reading from the NIV, verse 27.
But if one person sins unintentionally,
so it can be the whole community,
it can be one person.
He must bring a year old female goat for a sin offering.
The priest will make atonement
and the same law applies.
Verse 30,
But if anyone,
but anyone who sins defiantly,
whether native born as an Israelite
or an alien who's been brought in,
someone who wasn't an Israelite but became one,
if anyone sins defiantly,
they blaspheme the Lord
and that person must be cut off from his people
because he has despised the Lord's word
and broken his compands,
that person must surely be cut off.
His guilt remains on him.
There was no Old Testament sacrifice
for intentional defiant sin.
If you take that to the book of Hebrews,
the same thing holds true in our covenant,
by the way.
Sins Hebrews 9 talks about sins of ignorance being forgiven
and all this, that and the other.
It's all under the blood.
Once we go into intentional sin,
now we're on thin ice right away.
And we have to really,
let's just take that and just apply it as is
to what we're talking about here.
He's saying, you really have to watch
when you're getting set free
of something, that's the picture for us,
to not intentionally keep on sinning
because you're just being in trouble
and that's the way it is.
Everybody makes mistakes, everybody grows.
Like we said last week, Romans 7, Paul said,
I'm trying to do what's right and I don't
and I'm trying not to do what's wrong
and I find myself doing it and I'm at war
but I will win this, Romans 8.
There is nothing wrong with the war period of time.
That's what grows us up.
But when we intentionally say,
I'm just going to do what I want to do,
now we're in trouble, especially in the deliverance realm.
So jump down to page 14, the bottom.
For my angel will go before you
and bring you into the different lands
of the different people, I'll get rid of them.
He says, verse 24, you shall not bow down
to their gods nor serve them,
nor do according to their works,
but you shall utterly overthrow them
and completely break down their sacred altars.
So you've got this land that's full of enemies.
God says, I'll get rid of the enemies,
but whatever the enemies were doing,
you can't keep doing it.
So you can't say, OK, I have a problem
with listening to rebellious music,
music that portrays rebellion,
or really sexual, like hip-hop.
I mean, is there a hip-hop song that isn't super sexual?
I don't think there is.
They are just there.
So that would be an enemy to the cross
because it's portraying everything
that's opposite of the kingdom.
So let's say someone, hypothetically,
picks up some kind of spirit regarding that,
and they're really troubled in life
and finally through deliverance stuff,
they dig into it and they say,
well, you got this sexual demon stuff.
And it's tied to the music you listen to.
Well, let's cast it out. Let's get rid of it.
OK, let's cast it out and get rid of it.
They were there because of the
opening or the door you made for them
according to the sinful music
you were giving yourself over to.
So we get them out.
You can't hang on to the music
or the way he said it here.
You can't keep bowing down to their gods,
serve them and do according to their works.
If they got in by the music,
you can get them out,
but you can't hang while I like the music.
They'll be back.
You're going to have to deal with the sin issue
that let them in
because it is where you're going to be
making covenant with them.
You're compromising with them.
You're actually letting the core of the enemy
from their land live in your land
because you're unwilling to say no
to the hip-hop music.
Well, I got the demons cast out.
What's the problem?
The problem is you're still playing
with what those demons stood for.
You got to clean it up.
You can't just go on like nothing happened.
Page 15.
We can't serve whatever they're about.
We can't serve that thing at all.
It's got to be completely overthrown in our life
and thrown out.
That doesn't happen overnight.
That's why we have to learn to hold our ground.
You know how hard it is
to talk someone into throwing out
and tell them,
now it's easier because it's all digital and online.
But years ago, you spent...
you bought albums
and you spent 10, 12, 15 bucks an album
and you got 100 of them.
Pastor, are you serious?
You want me to throw all those away?
You know what it cost me?
I know what it cost you.
But you can't keep playing
with the material of their gods.
You have to...
The material is what caused the problem.
It will cause the problem again.
Or bit... and bigger.
So page 15, verse 25.
So you shall serve the Lord your God
and He will bless your bread and your water
and I will take sickness away from the midst of you.
There is the blessing.
No one shall suffer miscarriage
or be barren in your land.
I will fulfill the number of your days.
Notice to truly walk in the blessings of God
we need to get the enemies out.
He just got done saying,
you got to get the enemies out.
You got to get everything the enemies stood for out.
Now the blessing will come
and I will bless you beyond.
Okay, verse 27.
I will send my fear before you.
I will cause confusion among all the people.
See the enemies that were living in the land.
He'll cause confusion among all the people
to whom you come
and will make all your enemies
turn their backs to you.
And I will send the hornets before you
which will drive out the different enemies.
This picture is the driving out process.
Remember, we've said this over and over.
When the spirit of God moves, everything moves.
Angels kick into gear,
God's Holy Spirit kicks into gear
and the demons start freaking out.
That's why in services where there's heavy anointing
sometimes you get manifestations
because the spirit of God is moving.
So now everything is moving.
Why?
He's going ahead of us
and literally beginning the driving out process
and they can feel it.
We're getting shoved out of this house, out of this temple
and they're freaking out to find a way to stay in.
It's the driving out process
when God moves, everything moves.
Last paragraph under number eight.
God begins moving on the situation, person
and as a result everything gets stirred up.
That's why people will typically experience
a huge amount of anxiety,
fear, confusion, distress
and even physical pain.
Excuse me, when the deliverance process
is drawing near or beginning.
Most of the time if someone is set up
for deliverance from my experience
most of the time when you lose them
and they back out is when they're driving
to the appointment.
Because what's in them knows
yeah, we're in deep trouble.
We could lose here
and they will throw everything
at the person to try to say
don't go there.
And they will experience anxiety,
fear, confusion, distress
physical pain to where they feel
like they have to go to the hospital.
I've had people call me, of course
back then we didn't have cell phones
so they would call me the next day
or later in the day
because they didn't show up for their appointment.
And I'm going, where were you?
Well, we were on the way
and I got this pain in my example
pain in my stomach just doubled me over
I thought, I thought I was going to die
who went to the hospital, they checked me over
they couldn't find anything
and I finally made up my mind
I just better go home and rest
and when I did the whole pain left.
We'll think that one through.
So what do you think that was, Pastor?
Well, I don't know, what do you think that was?
That was your demons getting all wound up
trying to stop you from getting here.
That's what that was.
Because when the process of deliverance
takes place, God works in front of it
and prepares and starts stirring
on the person by his Holy Spirit
and starts working in him
and all the demons freak out
and most of the time the person can't tell the difference
you wouldn't believe the number of people
who are deathly afraid of me or Mary
once it looks like something's been identified
once the Spirit in them knows we know
yeah, you got a critter
once it knows we know
they will get horrified of us
stay away from us
I don't trust you
everything you say
it just seems like you're trying to hurt me
and just all these strange accusations start coming
and they believe them.
Where is that coming from?
It's coming from the Spirit inside of them
who's trying to get them away from us
and there'll be lies and stories made up
and did you know that this is what Pastor Verne said to me
so I just quit going there
I never said any such thing
but you did quit. You know why?
because the Spirit in you knew I knew it was there
and it was afraid at some point
you would have the courage to get into a prayer line
and it gets booted
it's how it works, it's how the process works
bottom of page 15, number 29
I will not drive them out before you in one year
lest the land become desolate
and the beasts of the field become too numerous for you
little by little I will drive them out from before you
until you have increased and you inherit the land

full and complete deliverance rarely happens at once
it doesn't work for people
because people are not...
if they're not ready
if we would have had the wherewithal
to get them out and keep them out
they wouldn't still be there
but they're there
which means we have to grow
to maintain that land
second paragraph
for us in the New Testament
this is our body, our temple
demonic spirits can live in portions of it
and we're going to show you that from Ephesians 4.27
so what happens is
and I think I'll refer to this later
but we'll just say it now
it's what we call peeling the onion
you know how onions come in layers
it's just a perfect picture of this
God will let a certain amount of the onion be peeled
and then that's all the more that goes
and the person has to learn how to live in that much
deliverance and freedom
maintain that
and then he'll peel more
and they have to learn how to maintain that
In that, he rarely drives him out all at once. The thing of Legion like happened in the tombs
is rare in real deliverance. It happened. I mean, it can happen, but it's more rare because
we can't maintain our ground. We can't. And the way that guy was told, does anybody remember
what Jesus gave him to do to obey to maintain his ground? The Legion. The guy wanted to go
with Jesus and the disciples. What did Jesus tell him to do? That's how he had to maintain
his ground. Had he not done that, and we don't know, the story didn't follow up, but had he
not done that, chances are he had gotten really deep trouble. Good, good point. He had to go
and tell everybody that he knew what the Lord had done for him, the guy with Legion.
That's what maintained the ground. Okay, so now this is going to slow us up, but this
is a perfect place to throw a story in. I had that experience in 2000, Mary might remember,
2007, 2008. At one of our open heaven meetings, we had Brother Isaacson come and he taught on
deliverance and stuff. And then on a Thursday night, we had a deliverance service. And
from my perspective, a bunch of people got helped, but from my perspective, it turned into a fiasco,
because I went in, just call it what it was. I repented the next Sunday to the congregation.
I went in arrogant. I did not pray in fast before that deliverance service,
because I was just thinking this is just going to be your garden variety demon.
We're going to run into. And most of the time that's what you run into. By garden variety,
I mean just your normal demons that live in people. Jesus said, there's some kind
that don't go out. There's certain ones that won't leave without prayer and fasting.
Well, I just took for granted we're not going to run into one of those.
It's just going to be a simple deal and it'll be over. So it was my arrogance that got me
into that spot, because I was overestimating the situation or underestimating how you want to look
at it. So we started in on this thing and there's a certain guy I could name him to you. You know
who he is, most of you. He started manifesting and there was somebody praying with them and they
got nowhere. So they called me over and they said help me with this. So we started in on him.
Um, this went on for two, two and a half hours. This thing wouldn't leave.
And I knew 10, 15 minutes into it. Oh man, this is a fallen angel class. This isn't going
to go without prayer and fasting and who forgot to pray and fast. So now we're in for war.
So it's like, okay, well, we got to do what we got to do because here we're a new church. We were
three years old, believe in the supernatural and the whole thing.
And hey, we got a deliverance service and what happens if we can't get somebody free?
It's going to discredit everything. So this thing is the main thing it was doing was just
mocking us by laughing. Were you there for that one Vanessa? You were. It just mocked us by
laughing, just laugh, laugh, laugh, laugh, loud, laugh, laugh, laugh. And then started trying to
hurt the guy, do self harm. So we got him down on the floor and the only way that I could protect
the guy from the spirit ripping at him, clawing at him was kind of lay on him and bind him up.
So he couldn't do that. So here we are for two hours and I'm praying everything I could pray
about an hour into it. I'm starting to get physically tired and the Holy Spirit said to me,
he said, you cannot quit on this one or you will lose this church. That's why a fallen angel took,
they usually don't take the chance. They'll shove all kinds of lower level
garden variety demons in. And if they go to the pit, well, whatever, they usually stay in what Paul
called the heavenlies and rule from there. Because if they come down and engage, they could end up
cast it out to the pit. They won't take that chance. But the whole design for this was to
stop the church right there and make us look like a sham. So we're about an hour into it and
the Holy Spirit explains that to me and I'm gone. Pelsi, why in the world didn't you pray and fast
before this? I mean, you arrogant thing. And I asked forgiveness. I did, I did all kinds of stuff.
It didn't help. This spirit was not going. It was just not going to go.
So Brother Isaacson came, Mary came, a few different ones came to help pray.
And I stopped praying and I looked at them. I said, you want to do this one?
Oh, no, go ahead. You got it. It's like, I'll never forget that. I told them afterwards. I said,
you're the guest speaker. Why are you not you taking on the hard ones here?
Well, I just looked like you had it. Yeah, it looked like I had it. That
we're in deep trouble. So anyway, this went on for between two and two and a half hours.
And now I'm, and I had done everything I knew how to do as far as a skill or a tool.
Nothing. Nothing was working.
And I'm starting to get physically exhausted. And that's bad. Because when you get physically
exhausted, it kind of blocks your ability to hear the spirit. And I knew this is coming.
I have to win this and I don't know what to do.
Um, so I admitted that. I said, Holy Spirit, I'm losing. Not no idea what to do.
And I've already confessed my sin. I know what I did wrong.
But it didn't change anything. I'm doing everything I know how to do.
And this thing is not leaving. It's just as arrogant and as ever. I said, I don't know what to do here.
But you told me not to quit. So what do I do?
And it was that humbling that saved my butt.
Because then I had one of the most supernatural experiences I've ever had.
Very clearly, the Holy Spirit said to me, call Michael and tell him these words exactly.
The Lord has asked you to serve vengeance on this spirit.
I'm going, okay.
So I did. I didn't make it loud. You don't have to. Now when God's in it.
And I called Michael and this horse, you know, the modular was small.
I mean, it was smaller than the sanctuary. It was smaller than the entryway.
And the ceiling was about seven and a half, eight feet. You could almost touch it like that.
This white horse rides in. And I'm looking up.
This white horse rides in that the back of it is taller than the ceiling.
Big like a workhorse thing.
And somebody jumps off totally dressed in white, long, long hair.
Blonde hair, long blonde hair hanging out and almost to the waist.
And white, white clothing with a big gold sash jumped off.
I never did see his face, but I could tell he kind of leaned over.
He too, his head was out of the ceiling. He leaned over a bit.
And he said, it shocked me.
You expect them to look like, you know, all the old pictures.
Okay, hon, do you need anything? What, you know, can I help you? Can I be of service?
You know, you're expecting kind of this. I'll try to imitate the voice tone exactly.
He leaned over and he said one word.
What? Just like that. What? And I'm going.
Okay, did I do something wrong? You know what? But see, he wants to get to the point.
Let's get this over. He's got other things to do. He's got other places to go.
What? What am I here for?
So I said, I was told to tell you this.
The Lord says you are to serve vengeance on this spirit.
He never said another thing. And I'm kind of laying sideways, paying more attention there now
than here. He pulls his sword back and sticks it behind me, just like this.
And I'm between him and the person who had the demon manifesting sticks it back like that.
And he stood there for maybe three seconds. And I'm sure there was some kind of communication
going on between him and that spirit. And all of a sudden, he stood there for maybe
just one. And it went through me. I didn't feel anything, but I saw it.
And the first thought in my head was, he just stuck me. It went through me into that person.
They didn't feel anything either. I talked about it later. But the spirit did.
That thing screamed out in pain. And it didn't take two seconds. It was gone.
And the whole thing was over. That was the grace and the mercy you got, what that was.
The whole thing was over. So here's my point with this. So the service is over.
And the Holy Spirit, I knew good and well. I don't know if this guy's got what it takes to hold his ground.
And we don't want something like that seven times worse coming back.
So I expressed that. I said, Lord, I'm not sure he's got what it takes to maintain this.
And the Holy Spirit said this, find someone that you can tell the story to and confess
your sin to them right now before you go to bed. And he will stay free forever.
So I'm going. Cool. I went to the house because Madra was on her property. So I went to the house.
The only one that was up was Jess. I said, Jess, I got to talk to you, explain the whole story to
him, explain what happened. Here's where I sinned. I'm confessing this and I'm saying it to you.
And the reason I'm telling you this is because this is what he told me is needed
for that man to stay free of whatever this thing was.
I told him the whole thing. Now, here's the amazing part. I know the guy. I still see him
from time to time. Yeah, he goes. I won't say that because you're going to try figuring out who it
is. But I know the guy. I see him from time to time. And I've asked him recently. Again,
I ask him every so many years. So you're still okay with, you know, the thing that
happened way back in the modular? Remember that? Oh, I remember that. I said, you still okay? Nothing's
bugging you? He said, I've never had a problem since that night. And that thing, whatever it was,
he said was with me as a child and was harassing me all my life. He was an adult man. He said,
and since that night, I've been totally free. Coming back to this.
Some place here. Demonic spirits live in ______________________________________________________________________________.
Something there triggered that. And here's the point out of it. This is not a game
we can't play with sin. And in this case, it was my sin. It wasn't the guy saying it was my sin,
my arrogance. We can't play with sin and expect the deliverance to stay intact. Had I refused
out of my own pride, well, I'm the pastor of this new church and this is going to look bad
and they're going to think, who knows what of me? And I can't say that, that I was arrogant and
complacent and I didn't fast. Had I disobeyed my order, the man would not have been free,
probably would have killed himself by now. The same way the legion, the guy with legion,
had to obey Jesus' order to stay free. The picture here is once that there's a way to
hold the land, the way to hold the land is you have to stay obedient. If we don't do what God
asks, we won't stay free. That is the whole point in a nutshell. And it can go from being
super serious to something that seems more mild. Remember the scale of one to ten?
So that night, I got to add this in for somebody because this will help somebody.
For that night bothered me for years because I felt like I had totally failed.
Even though God rescued me by grace, I felt like I had totally failed.
And it bothered me and I kept talking to the Holy Spirit about it. I said,
it just bothers me and he would reassure me. But it was only maybe three, four years ago.
He asked me, he said, why do you keep asking me about that night? Why do you keep apologizing
for that night? I said, because from my side it was a total disaster
that should have never gone that way. It was, from my side, it was a total disaster.
And this is what he said. God sees things so different. He said that night was absolutely
glorious. I said, how can that be? He said a number of things were accomplished that night.
Number one, as a young church, the demonic realm saw you won't quit.
So they have to take that into consideration that you won't quit. This is the war's on. We'll
stick with it until we went. You won't quit. Number two, he said besides the fact you won't
quit, you don't know what you were dealing with. He said, I do. And when that spirit had to leave,
because you obeyed me, confessed your sin, repented, and called for help, and I granted it to you,
because that spirit had to leave, it sent shock waves through the entire kingdom of darkness.
Reminding them who is Lord. Jesus is Lord. And that's important into some of the stories we'll
get to down the road a few weeks. He said that was absolutely glorious. There is nothing to feel
bad about. I said, so why do I feel this way? And he gave me an answer I didn't want to hear.
I said, why does it still bother me? He says, because of your pride.
You still feel like, oh, what would people probably thought and it made me look bad,
and it wouldn't leave when I told it to. And he said, that's all pride. He said, you still
got pride. Okay, verse 31, page 16. And I will set your bounds from the Red Sea, from the Red
Sea, for I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand, and you shall drive them out
before you. True deliverance sets boundaries so that the demons are not always coming back.
And we are truly delivered as we drive them out. He said, and you shall drive them out
before you until we engage and we say, no, no, this is my boundary. I am not going back. Get out
of here. We will not truly be free. They will test us and tempt us and prod us and push us
to see if we will let them back in. But once we set the boundary and we say,
we're done now. Get out of here. Now there's true deliverance. Verse 32, you shall make no covenant
with them nor with their gods. They shall not dwell in your land lest they make you sin against me.
For if you serve their gods, it will surely be a snare to you. Don't make any covenants or
agreements with sin or the demons. If we do, it's going to pull us back in. Number 12,
if we remain involved with sin and serve the demonic, it will become a snare or a noose to us.
Now let me jump just, yeah, let's go to the next page and we'll start on the Deuteronomy thing
because he kind of picks up on the same thought. Also, you shall destroy the peoples whom
the Lord your God delivers over to you, the enemies in our land. Your eye shall have
no pity on them, nor shall you serve their gods, for that will be a snare to you. So don't compromise.
It's that compromise or it's that making that covenant, like it said in Exodus,
that will become a snare to us. Gives them legal right. Number two, under letter A there,
snares choke animals or persons. Excuse me. They choke us by slowly cutting off the
supply of air. Air is a type of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit, the word spirit means breath.
Holy means set apart. So a set apart breath, it's the breath of God. It's the Numa or the Old
Testament and the word is Ruach. The word spirit literally means breath, wind or movement of air.
An evil spirit will interrupt the flow of the Holy Spirit like a snare. Once the Holy
Spirit is no longer able to flow in our lives because of the snare that is choking us out,
then the evil spirit begins to operate resulting in our serving it. That's the picture of that
place here. I have a list of things that I had just as ideas that can become snares. I'm not
seeing it. So let's just grab some things and talk about that for a little bit. What kind of
things can become snares to us? Well, I gave you one already. So you're addicted to the
wrong kind of music. And the demon goes, but you don't let go of the music. The music will
be like he says here. It'll become a snare to you. When God delivers you, your eyes shall have no
pity on them, nor shall you serve their gods. Back in the previous page 16, verse 32, you shall
make no covenant with them nor with their gods. They shall not dwell in your land. You can't
let them have access to your flesh and stay there. Lest they make you sin against me and you end
up serving them again, it will become a snare to you. So humans enjoy their sin. That's why we do
it. Even when the Holy Spirit convicts us and says, don't do that. We enjoy it. We are flesh like
sin. So what happens is the same as happened to them and they fell into the trap and it caused
all kinds of problems for them. What happens is we get free enough, we determine that we can manage it.
I won't give myself over to it. I'll just leave enough of it in my life so I can enjoy it,
but I'll be in control of it. I'll manage it. I will only cuss when I choose to.
I'm not going to do it all the time like it was controlling me and every time something happens,
I mean these words are flying and it's just, no, God set me free of that. So I will allow it
to stay with me just enough so that if I really need to make a point and I choose to cuss, then I'll
cuss, but I'm controlling it. It's not controlling me. You're compromising with it. You're allowing it
to stay in your land. You're making a covenant with it and it's going to become a snare around
your neck and it'll choke out the breath of the Holy Spirit and then another spirit will
gain access and gain control. I'll use something simple that I don't know of any... I've never had
to do deliverance for this, but it's a good example. Someone who drives too fast all the time,
they're speeding, breaking the law all the time. I've never had to do deliverance for that,
but it's a good example. So let's say that was the case and this person was having demonic
struggles and it came back to the fact that they don't abide by the law of the land.
They don't even try. They just drive however they want to drive whenever they want to drive.
So they get set free of that. Now how you make... they do that because they enjoy it.
They enjoy driving fast. If they didn't enjoy it, they wouldn't do it.
But they don't want to be out of control with it because that's what caused the demonic
problems. So making a covenant with it or compromising with it is...
Okay, so most of the time I'm going to do the speed limit.
It'll just be those certain times when I choose to do it because it's fun or
I'm late or whatever. So I will control the sin in my life, but I won't cut it totally out.
I'll just use it when I need it.
That will become a snare to you and spiritually wrap itself around you
and choke out the working of the Holy Spirit. You can't make a compromise with something that
got you in trouble. Trying to say this different ways so that it registers.
You can't make a compromise with stealing.
Well, I'll only steal at certain times when I feel it's necessary for the glory of God.
I just won't do it all the time from now on.
Yeah, you can't do that. You either have to get rid of it totally
or if you let it there so you can use it because you enjoy it and from time to time it benefits
you and your mind. So you'll just use it from time to time by it living there with you.
It will become a snare to you. It'll choke out the Holy Spirit and eventually
you'll get back in the same trouble or worse. Maybe not in the exact same place
like if it's stealing. Well, I've controlled this for 10 years. I've never had a problem
with it. Yeah, but where are you out of control now that 10 years ago you weren't?
Because this thing became a snare to you whether you saw it or not.
And it moved in and it's doing things inside of you because you didn't kill it.
You didn't get it out. You didn't destroy it.
Let's go a couple of more and then we'll go to questions and answers. Page 17,
the bottom there, he's just saying don't be afraid of these enemies.
You see what I've done. Verse 19, you see what I've done for you. Don't worry about it.
We never have to fear demons. You never have to be afraid of them. The thing of
they're so big and scary and bad that's all a lie. We're in a different class and they are
underneath us. Page 18. So verse 20, moreover the Lord your God will send the hornet among
them until those who are left who hide themselves from you are destroyed.
Now that's an interesting concept because when we start getting sanctified, did you ever notice
it's like a continual digging process and the Holy Spirit points something out and you work on it,
you get victory? And as you get victory over that it's like oh there's something else underneath
that. It was hidden. I never saw it before. I was seeing this first thing. But now that the
first thing is over, it's like what is that? That's what he's saying here.
The things that hide themselves from you, you're going to have to go after all of them and let them
be destroyed as they're revealed. Don't be terrified of them. The Lord God is great and
awesome. Verse 22. And the Lord your God will drive out those nations before you little by little.
You will be unable to destroy them at once, lest the beast of the field become too numerous
for you. But the Lord God will deliver them over to you and will inflict defeat upon them
until they are destroyed. And he will deliver their kings in your hand and you will destroy
their name and in other words it's going to be a clean, a clean slate. You're going to wipe
them all out. This is describing the deliverance process again. It doesn't happen all at once.
It goes slowly. These things that are represented by their kings, their kingdoms, their hierarchy of
command, everything that the whole works has to be destroyed. Anything associated with what that
that demonic force represented has to be destroyed in our life. This is not something
we can play with, compromise, or make covenants with. God will drive them out little by little,
but here is the concept I refer to as peeling the onion. It's generally a process
because we have to grow in and become stronger to deal with our land and we're going to see
that in picture form in Judges here probably next week. We have to grow and become stronger.
Page 19, according to Jesus, the beasts of the field are picturing other demons that are
worse than the original demon. This is discussed under section 8, page 37. We'll get there,
we'll talk about it. It's talking about when a demon leaves and he comes back and he sees the
house empty, swept and garnished. Well, here it is. It's empty, but it's uninhabited.
He goes back in and he brings other things back in and I believe what he's referring to
is the picture of the Old Testament, the beasts of the field. And now we have a whole new
group of problems. We just need to realize victory is coming. And let's finish this page
since it's this section. It may not happen all at once, but victory is coming. Just stay solid
and you will find yourself free. You shall burn the carved images of their gods with fire.
You shall not covet the silver or the gold that's on them, nor take it for yourselves,
lest you be snared by it. And there's, as we get into next week, we'll have examples of that.
What happened? For it is an abomination to the Lord your God. Nor shall you bring an
abomination into your house, lest you be doomed or to destruction like it. You shall
utterly detest it and utterly abhor it, for it is in a cursed thing. This scripture has
some very interesting things to say about getting free and remaining free. Letter A,
some physical items we need to get rid of. Now you can get weird with that. And in the 80s they
did. It's like stuff that was actually totally innocent. They were, oh, for you to be free,
you got to throw that away. And you got, like for instance, owls. Owls was a big thing because owls
represent night and they're creatures of the night. And so if you have any little pictures of owls
or statues of owls, you got to get all that out of your house because demons are going to infest it.
I think that's overboard.
You don't just randomly pick something and deal with it.
But there are some physical items we need to get rid of. We'll talk about those before we're
done here. They represent nothing but the demonic. That's important to remember when you're saying,
well, what kind of things? They represent nothing but the demonic. And to keep them is to invite
the demonic back into our lives. They shouldn't even be in our house. They will bring
destruction to the family because it's a curse by God and has demons attached to it.
We can't play with the things of sin and think we'll live free of the demonic.
This is called, should say called, not called, it's a misspelled there,
compromise and making covenants with them. Here are some examples.
Items can be jewelry, record items, books, magazines, videos, movies, etc.
Okay, so let's say that at one time you were into witchcraft
and you've got necklaces as a lady with all kinds of signs of witchcraft.
Or you were in demon worship and you've got beautiful gold or silver necklaces
with an upside down cross on it or a pentagram or something like that.
There is nothing you can do with that because that whole thing represents
nothing but the kingdom of darkness. You can't pray over a pentagram and
sanctify it for God's use. I like this necklace. I know it's a pentagram
with this wonderful diamond in the middle of it. This thing cost me 5000 bucks.
I just love this necklace and I got saved and I'm trying to live free.
You better get rid of that necklace. That is a piece of something that melted down,
turned it into a little silver bar. Do something with it.
You cannot leave it in that form and keep it in your house
because there's nothing godly represented by it. It is pure evil.
Follow the line of thinking there. It goes back up to letter A.
Some physical items we need to get rid of, they represent nothing but the demonic record albums.
If it's, and of course I'm going back to vinyl, but now we've got downloads
and we download our albums onto the phone and this that and the other.
If that album is exonerating, when we were raising our kids, you can maybe help me with this,
babes. We had guidelines of the kind of music they could listen to that was not
Christian music, but it could not have rebellion, drugs or alcohol, sexual sins,
satanism or witchcraft. There was one more thing, there was five. I don't remember the other one
right off hand. It could not glorify or make these things look good at all. If these things were
found in the song, get rid of the song. If the song's about rebellion, if the song's about
drugs and alcohol, if the song's about, uh, uh, I think the, did I say sexual promiscuity?
Did I? Okay, if it's about that, you just got to get rid of the song.
You got to get rid of the record. You got to get rid of the, back then cassette tapes were a big
thing. You got to lose the tape. You can't, we're not doing this. We're not bringing this into the house.
Horror movies. There is nothing about a horror movie that is godly. Nothing.
It is, it is designed to produce one thing, the love of God.
No, it's designed to produce fear. And what does the Bible say? Fear is not of God.
So if fear is not of God, and this thing is totally designed to produce fear,
this thing has nothing of God in it. So if you're having problems with fear,
if you're having problems sleeping because you're afraid, if you're having problems being alone in the
house because you're hearing strange sounds and noises and you want freedom of this,
you're going to have to get that horror movie out of your property.
Because it is a link to the wrong side. And the cross reference for that in the
New Testament is Acts chapter 19, where when people got saved who were in witchcraft and all
these realms, they brought all their material and burned it. To make a final cut, we are not
of that kingdom anymore. There are just certain things that have nothing to do with God.
And when they have nothing to do with God, they are, they are the kingdom of darkness
welcomeers. They welcome demons. And as long as, as long as you love your Harry Potter books
more than you love obedience, because at some point the Holy Spirit is going to put his finger on
you and say, get rid of those. Well, I don't want to. I don't see where I should. I have
Christian friends that have them. I'm not afraid anyway. I have no fear and fear is not of
God. So I should be able to have them. They're just the thing. There is nothing in them
that is godly. Nothing. And as long as you have them, you are leaving a door wide open
to the demonic realm. Because if there's nothing godly represented in them, it's the kingdom of
darkness that's being represented. You can't deal with them, keep them in your house, like it says
there in verse 26. Anything that ties you to the enemy or to that stuff, you have to get out.
Now, that doesn't mean you got getting rid of everything. You know, like in the 80s or
the Charismatic move, they were, you know, Brother Caseman will share stories where they were casting
demons out of doorknobs. He usually uses that as an example. So you got to change the doorknob
in the house because that doorknob had a demon. You better get a new one, get rid of that. It's
like, see, everything can become an excess. It can become weird. We're not talking about
those kind of things. We're talking about things that are specifically designed
to represent the kingdom of darkness. That is their only purpose. Those you're going to have
to lose. You're going to have to get rid of them. If you want true freedom, you got to get them
out. That's what's pictured here in these scriptures. So now we'll remember where
we're at for next week. We're starting on page 20.
