Had he not done that, and we don't know, the story didn't follow up, but had he 31:03.800 --> 31:14.740 not done that, chances are he had gotten really deep trouble. Good, good point. At one of our open heaven meetings, we had Brother Isaacson come and he taught on 31:48.240 --> 31:53.480 deliverance and stuff. And then on a Thursday night, we had a deliverance service. And 31:54.880 --> 32:01.660 from my perspective, a bunch of people got helped, but from my perspective, it turned into a fiasco, 32:02.980 --> 32:10.760 because I went in, just call it what it was. I repented the next Sunday to the congregation. 32:11.760 --> 32:18.540 I went in arrogant. I did not pray in fast before that deliverance service, 32:18.780 --> 32:23.340 because I was just thinking this is just going to be your garden variety demon. 32:23.340 --> 32:28.980 We're going to run into. And most of the time that's what you run into. By garden variety, 32:29.240 --> 32:35.680 I mean just your normal demons that live in people. He started manifesting and there was somebody praying with them and they 33:07.940 --> 33:16.080 got nowhere. So they called me over and they said help me with this. So we started in on him. 33:17.040 --> 33:26.500 Um, this went on for two, two and a half hours. This thing wouldn't leave. 33:27.600 --> 33:40.660 And I knew 10, 15 minutes into it. Oh man, this is a fallen angel class. This isn't going 33:40.660 --> 33:52.070 to go without prayer and fasting and who forgot to pray and fast. So now we're in for war. 33:53.750 --> 33:59.410 So it's like, okay, well, we got to do what we got to do because here we're a new church. So we got him down on the floor and the only way that I could protect 34:45.710 --> 34:53.370 the guy from the spirit ripping at him, clawing at him was kind of lay on him and bind him up. 34:53.370 --> 35:02.170 So he couldn't do that. So here we are for two hours and I'm praying everything I could pray 35:02.170 --> 35:08.130 about an hour into it. I'm starting to get physically tired and the Holy Spirit said to me, 35:09.250 --> 35:15.450 he said, you cannot quit on this one or you will lose this church. That's why a fallen angel took, 35:16.530 --> 35:20.010 they usually don't take the chance. They'll shove all kinds of lower level 35:20.010 --> 35:26.750 garden variety demons in. And if they go to the pit, well, whatever, they usually stay in what Paul 35:26.750 --> 35:33.830 called the heavenlies and rule from there. Because if they come down and engage, they could end up 35:34.370 --> 35:40.890 cast it out to the pit. They won't take that chance. But the whole design for this was to 35:40.890 --> 35:47.310 stop the church right there and make us look like a sham. And it went through me. I didn't feel anything, but I saw it. 41:06.030 --> 41:15.230 And the first thought in my head was, he just stuck me. We can't play with sin and expect the deliverance to stay intact. Had I refused 44:31.330 --> 44:36.730 out of my own pride, well, I'm the pastor of this new church and this is going to look bad 44:36.730 --> 44:44.070 and they're going to think, who knows what of me? And I can't say that, that I was arrogant and 44:44.710 --> 44:53.970 complacent and I didn't fast. Had I disobeyed my order, the man would not have been free, 44:54.010 --> 44:58.610 probably would have killed himself by now. The same way the legion, the guy with legion, 44:58.610 --> 45:11.130 had to obey Jesus' order to stay free. The picture here is once that there's a way to 45:11.130 --> 45:19.770 hold the land, the way to hold the land is you have to stay obedient. If we don't do what God 45:19.770 --> 45:29.870 asks, we won't stay free. That is the whole point in a nutshell. And it can go from being 45:29.870 --> 45:38.430 super serious to something that seems more mild. Remember the scale of one to ten? 45:40.410 --> 45:44.290 So that night, I got to add this in for somebody because this will help somebody. 45:44.570 --> 45:50.190 For that night bothered me for years because I felt like I had totally failed. 45:51.150 --> 45:58.190 Even though God rescued me by grace, I felt like I had totally failed. 45:59.330 --> 46:02.330 And it bothered me and I kept talking to the Holy Spirit about it. I said, 46:02.330 --> 46:08.350 it just bothers me and he would reassure me. But it was only maybe three, four years ago. 46:10.770 --> 46:16.250 He asked me, he said, why do you keep asking me about that night? And when that spirit had to leave, 47:27.670 --> 47:36.810 because you obeyed me, confessed your sin, repented, and called for help, and I granted it to you, 47:37.590 --> 47:43.770 because that spirit had to leave, it sent shock waves through the entire kingdom of darkness. 47:46.030 --> 47:53.170 Reminding them who is Lord. Jesus is Lord. And that's important into some of the stories we'll 47:53.170 --> 48:03.350 get to down the road a few weeks. He said that was absolutely glorious. True deliverance sets boundaries so that the demons are not always coming back. 49:01.920 --> 49:12.680 And we are truly delivered as we drive them out. He said, and you shall drive them out 49:12.680 --> 49:25.200 before you until we engage and we say, no, no, this is my boundary. I am not going back. Get out 49:25.200 --> 49:32.340 of here. We will not truly be free. They will test us and tempt us and prod us and push us 49:32.340 --> 49:40.760 to see if we will let them back in. But once we set the boundary and we say, 49:40.760 --> 49:46.320 we're done now. Get out of here. Now there's true deliverance. Verse 32, you shall make no covenant 49:46.320 --> 49:51.900 with them nor with their gods. They shall not dwell in your land lest they make you sin against me. 49:52.040 --> 49:57.700 For if you serve their gods, it will surely be a snare to you. Don't make any covenants or 49:57.700 --> 50:05.200 agreements with sin or the demons. If we do, it's going to pull us back in. Number 12, 50:05.200 --> 50:12.280 if we remain involved with sin and serve the demonic, it will become a snare or a noose to us. 50:13.160 --> 50:21.540 Now let me jump just, yeah, let's go to the next page and we'll start on the Deuteronomy thing 50:21.540 --> 50:26.700 because he kind of picks up on the same thought. Also, you shall destroy the peoples whom 50:26.700 --> 50:31.780 the Lord your God delivers over to you, the enemies in our land. Your eye shall have 50:31.780 --> 50:37.760 no pity on them, nor shall you serve their gods, for that will be a snare to you. So don't compromise. 50:39.240 --> 50:42.900 It's that compromise or it's that making that covenant, like it said in Exodus, 50:43.700 --> 50:50.320 that will become a snare to us. Gives them legal right. Number two, under letter A there, 50:51.440 --> 51:00.520 snares choke animals or persons. Excuse me. They choke us by slowly cutting off the 51:00.520 --> 51:06.460 supply of air. Air is a type of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit, the word spirit means breath. 51:06.820 --> 51:11.820 Holy means set apart. So a set apart breath, it's the breath of God. It's the Numa or the Old 51:11.820 --> 51:17.800 Testament and the word is Ruach. The word spirit literally means breath, wind or movement of air. 51:18.680 --> 51:25.480 An evil spirit will interrupt the flow of the Holy Spirit like a snare. Once the Holy 51:25.480 --> 51:31.400 Spirit is no longer able to flow in our lives because of the snare that is choking us out, 51:31.880 --> 51:50.520 then the evil spirit begins to operate resulting in our serving it. That's the picture of that 51:50.520 --> 52:00.960 place here. I have a list of things that I had just as ideas that can become snares. I'm not 52:00.960 --> 52:06.500 seeing it. So let's just grab some things and talk about that for a little bit. What kind of 52:06.500 --> 52:12.760 things can become snares to us? Well, I gave you one already. So you're addicted to the 52:12.760 --> 52:19.300 wrong kind of music. And the demon goes, but you don't let go of the music. The music will 52:19.300 --> 52:28.560 be like he says here. It'll become a snare to you. When God delivers you, your eyes shall have no 52:28.560 --> 52:38.180 pity on them, nor shall you serve their gods. Back in the previous page 16, verse 32, you shall 52:38.180 --> 52:44.790 make no covenant with them nor with their gods. They shall not dwell in your land. You can't 52:44.790 --> 52:50.590 let them have access to your flesh and stay there. Lest they make you sin against me and you end 52:50.590 --> 53:01.550 up serving them again, it will become a snare to you. So humans enjoy their sin. That's why we do 53:01.550 --> 53:07.430 it. Even when the Holy Spirit convicts us and says, don't do that. We enjoy it. We are flesh like 53:07.430 --> 53:16.310 sin. So what happens is the same as happened to them and they fell into the trap and it caused 53:16.310 --> 53:24.650 all kinds of problems for them. What happens is we get free enough, we determine that we can manage it. 53:27.110 --> 53:34.550 I won't give myself over to it. I'll just leave enough of it in my life so I can enjoy it, 53:34.550 --> 53:44.970 but I'll be in control of it. I'll manage it. I will only cuss when I choose to. 53:46.370 --> 53:50.670 I'm not going to do it all the time like it was controlling me and every time something happens, 53:50.810 --> 53:58.730 I mean these words are flying and it's just, no, God set me free of that. So I will allow it 53:58.730 --> 54:05.870 to stay with me just enough so that if I really need to make a point and I choose to cuss, then I'll 54:05.870 --> 54:12.730 cuss, but I'm controlling it. It's not controlling me. You're compromising with it. You're allowing it 54:12.730 --> 54:19.530 to stay in your land. You're making a covenant with it and it's going to become a snare around 54:19.530 --> 54:25.310 your neck and it'll choke out the breath of the Holy Spirit and then another spirit will 54:25.310 --> 54:33.190 gain access and gain control. I'll use something simple that I don't know of any... I've never had 54:33.190 --> 54:37.950 to do deliverance for this, but it's a good example. Someone who drives too fast all the time, 54:38.010 --> 54:42.130 they're speeding, breaking the law all the time. I've never had to do deliverance for that, 54:42.150 --> 54:47.890 but it's a good example. So let's say that was the case and this person was having demonic 54:47.890 --> 54:52.210 struggles and it came back to the fact that they don't abide by the law of the land. 54:52.210 --> 54:55.590 They don't even try. They just drive however they want to drive whenever they want to drive. 54:56.570 --> 55:02.670 So they get set free of that. Now how you make... they do that because they enjoy it. 55:03.550 --> 55:06.850 They enjoy driving fast. If they didn't enjoy it, they wouldn't do it. 55:08.810 --> 55:13.830 But they don't want to be out of control with it because that's what caused the demonic 55:13.830 --> 55:18.930 problems. So making a covenant with it or compromising with it is... 55:19.890 --> 55:22.930 Okay, so most of the time I'm going to do the speed limit. 55:23.590 --> 55:30.270 It'll just be those certain times when I choose to do it because it's fun or 55:31.230 --> 55:42.790 I'm late or whatever. So I will control the sin in my life, but I won't cut it totally out. 55:43.790 --> 55:46.730 I'll just use it when I need it. 55:48.930 --> 55:55.110 That will become a snare to you and spiritually wrap itself around you 55:55.110 --> 56:04.110 and choke out the working of the Holy Spirit. You can't make a compromise with something that 56:04.110 --> 56:10.430 got you in trouble. Trying to say this different ways so that it registers. 56:10.710 --> 56:13.610 You can't make a compromise with stealing. 56:15.230 --> 56:20.410 Well, I'll only steal at certain times when I feel it's necessary for the glory of God. 56:21.490 --> 56:23.570 I just won't do it all the time from now on. 56:25.230 --> 56:30.210 Yeah, you can't do that. You either have to get rid of it totally 56:31.130 --> 56:37.210 or if you let it there so you can use it because you enjoy it and from time to time it benefits 56:37.210 --> 56:43.810 you and your mind. So you'll just use it from time to time by it living there with you. 56:44.130 --> 56:47.910 It will become a snare to you. It'll choke out the Holy Spirit and eventually 56:47.910 --> 56:53.450 you'll get back in the same trouble or worse. Maybe not in the exact same place 56:53.450 --> 56:58.530 like if it's stealing. Well, I've controlled this for 10 years. I've never had a problem 56:58.530 --> 57:03.030 with it. Yeah, but where are you out of control now that 10 years ago you weren't? 57:03.930 --> 57:07.110 Because this thing became a snare to you whether you saw it or not. 57:07.910 --> 57:13.770 And it moved in and it's doing things inside of you because you didn't kill it. 57:14.310 --> 57:17.670 You didn't get it out. So verse 20, moreover the Lord your God will send the hornet among 57:51.230 --> 57:54.370 them until those who are left who hide themselves from you are destroyed. 57:55.850 --> 58:02.530 Now that's an interesting concept because when we start getting sanctified, did you ever notice 58:02.530 --> 58:07.770 it's like a continual digging process and the Holy Spirit points something out and you work on it, 58:07.790 --> 58:12.430 you get victory? And as you get victory over that it's like oh there's something else underneath 58:12.430 --> 58:18.390 that. It was hidden. I never saw it before. I was seeing this first thing. But now that the 58:18.390 --> 58:22.610 first thing is over, it's like what is that? That's what he's saying here. 58:23.810 --> 58:28.450 The things that hide themselves from you, you're going to have to go after all of them and let them 58:28.450 --> 58:32.870 be destroyed as they're revealed. Don't be terrified of them. The Lord God is great and 58:32.870 --> 58:38.390 awesome. Verse 22. And the Lord your God will drive out those nations before you little by little. 58:39.050 --> 58:46.730 You will be unable to destroy them at once, lest the beast of the field become too numerous 58:46.730 --> 58:54.490 for you. But the Lord God will deliver them over to you and will inflict defeat upon them 58:54.490 --> 58:59.530 until they are destroyed. And he will deliver their kings in your hand and you will destroy 58:59.530 --> 59:04.730 their name and in other words it's going to be a clean, a clean slate. You're going to wipe 59:04.730 --> 59:10.070 them all out. This is describing the deliverance process again. It doesn't happen all at once. 59:10.230 --> 59:16.270 It goes slowly. These things that are represented by their kings, their kingdoms, their hierarchy of 59:16.270 --> 59:21.610 command, everything that the whole works has to be destroyed. Anything associated with what that 59:22.330 --> 59:28.070 that demonic force represented has to be destroyed in our life. This is not something 59:28.070 --> 59:33.570 we can play with, compromise, or make covenants with. God will drive them out little by little, 59:34.150 --> 59:38.570 but here is the concept I refer to as peeling the onion. It's generally a process 59:38.570 --> 59:44.770 because we have to grow in and become stronger to deal with our land and we're going to see 59:44.770 --> 59:51.310 that in picture form in Judges here probably next week. We have to grow and become stronger. 59:51.470 --> 59:56.230 Page 19, according to Jesus, the beasts of the field are picturing other demons that are 59:56.230 --> 01:00:02.370 worse than the original demon.
