We've got a, that is hard. And Paul deals with that 01:34.400 --> 01:39.200 a couple of places in scripture. 1 Corinthians 7 is one of them. Well, first of all, if this thing becomes law, that 01:48.880 --> 01:54.920 parent's going to lose their voice because you can no longer say no. If you say no, they'll take 01:54.920 --> 02:03.120 the child away from you because you're an abuser. You know, my favorite scripture, it's becoming, 02:03.300 --> 02:08.320 it's becoming my favorite scripture. Romans 1. Paul does give us some reason for hope there. 02:49.400 --> 02:52.640 And I'm going to go and take it there because that's a very good question and it's probably 02:52.640 --> 03:00.860 going to come up numerous places. So go with me to 1st Corinthians 7, I believe it is. 03:02.620 --> 03:09.380 And let's read about it. I'm going to get out of the amplified. I'll go to New King James. 03:09.960 --> 03:19.200 It's for the fun of it. Let me find it. 03:20.820 --> 03:28.080 We'll start reading about the verse 12. He's talking about putting away in 03:28.760 --> 03:35.740 that realm, divorce, putting away, etc. Verse 12, he's saying don't do it because 03:36.740 --> 03:45.120 he says, now, this is interesting. Now, let's start at verse 10. Now, to the married I command, 03:46.440 --> 03:51.620 yet not I, but the Lord. So there's some things here that Paul has been giving his opinion, 03:51.880 --> 03:58.600 and he usually says it. A wife is not to depart from her husband, but even if she does depart, 03:58.780 --> 04:02.260 let her remain unmarried or be reconciled, her husband and her husband not to divorce, 04:02.260 --> 04:06.560 that were divorced, there's put away. It is not giving the bill of divorce. It's putting away. 04:06.740 --> 04:13.580 A husband is not to put away his wife. But to the rest, I, not the Lord, say. Oh, 04:13.860 --> 04:18.780 so this is Paul talking now. If any brother has a wife who does not believe and she is willing 04:18.780 --> 04:22.280 to live with him, let him not divorce her or put her away. That's what it means there. 04:22.760 --> 04:27.900 And a woman who has a husband who does not believe, if he is willing to live with her, 04:27.900 --> 04:35.140 let her not divorce him. Now notice how Paul says this. And he's not saying God is saying this. He's 04:35.140 --> 04:42.640 saying, from my understanding of how God operates, this is my advice to you. If you have a wife 04:42.640 --> 04:50.140 who is not a believer, but she's willing to live with you. So who's leading here? 04:52.000 --> 05:01.160 The believer. If she's willing to let you serve God and live with you, don't divorce her. 05:02.840 --> 05:08.420 Let him not divorce her. End of verse 12. And then he flips it. And if a woman who has a 05:08.420 --> 05:12.900 husband who's not a believer, if he's willing to live with her, why do you always go to church 05:12.900 --> 05:16.060 on Sundays? Why do you always take the kids? Why are you always reading your Bible? 05:16.060 --> 05:20.740 I get so tired of it. His daughters were saved because of his righteousness. 06:46.600 --> 06:51.760 So there are scriptural examples of if there is a believer in the family and the rest of the 06:51.760 --> 07:00.740 family is willing to live with that person, there is a covering, a protection, a surrounding 07:00.740 --> 07:07.500 with righteousness. Acts 16 31. Again, let's just, I'll just go there and read it. 07:08.520 --> 07:13.440 I quoted it earlier tonight, but I might be good for you to actually see it. Back up, let's back up to verse 28. 07:24.530 --> 07:28.510 We're in prison here now and I believe the earthquake has happened and the prison 07:28.510 --> 07:34.430 doors have opened and so forth. Verse 28. The jailer was about to kill himself at the end of verse 27, 07:34.690 --> 07:40.090 verse 28. But Paul called out in a loud voice saying, do not do yourself no harm for we are all here. 07:40.530 --> 07:45.810 So don't kill yourself. Then he called for a light, ran in and fell down. The jailer called 07:45.810 --> 07:49.810 for a light, ran in and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas because they just came 07:49.810 --> 07:54.990 through a very traumatic thing. And he brought them out and said, Sirs, what must I do to 07:54.990 --> 08:04.450 be saved? They said, what you need to do is believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved, 08:05.710 --> 08:15.450 you and your household. So if there is a believer in a household, stay with it as long as you can. 08:16.190 --> 08:19.890 Now, if they're willing to leave, they want to leave, well, let them go. But stay with it 08:19.890 --> 08:24.470 because there's a realm of sanctification or righteousness that will spread to the rest 08:24.470 --> 08:29.250 of the family. So let's take that concept and apply it to the question. You've got one parent who wants 08:29.250 --> 08:34.810 the child to get the sex change and you've got another one who does not. Stay in there and fight 08:36.430 --> 08:42.110 for that child and for the spouse, but stay in there and fight because if you leave, 08:42.410 --> 08:48.790 now we know they're doomed. If you stay in there, we don't know how much God can accomplish, 08:48.910 --> 08:53.350 but he will accomplish a whole lot more, even maybe to the point of, in the end, 08:53.350 --> 08:59.850 they will be saved because of your righteousness. That is in Scripture and it is a family thing. 09:00.370 --> 09:09.550 It is not a town thing or a county thing or whatever, it's a family thing. It worked that way with Noah, worked that way with Lot. It works that way in Acts 16-31. 12:07.190 --> 12:13.330 It works that way in 1 Corinthians 7. It's the parent to the spouse and the children. It goes 12:13.330 --> 12:20.470 that way. I don't know of any evidence where it goes otherwise. They're trying to 13:11.630 --> 13:20.870 keep something going awry. But I don't believe it. I don't think that's God. I don't think 13:20.870 --> 13:24.850 it has anything to do with God. You say, why not? Well, I'll tell you what I told them. I said, 13:24.870 --> 13:31.770 here's the problem I have with it. If God doesn't want me to pray for someone of the opposite sex, 13:32.430 --> 13:36.570 why does he give me a word of knowledge? Why does he give me a hunger, a desire, 13:36.870 --> 13:41.810 a burden? Why does he put it on my heart? Get over there, talk to them, and if you can 13:41.810 --> 13:46.390 lay hands on them, pray for them. Sometimes people, I've had this in the past 20:29.230 --> 20:35.150 and they thought it was demons and it wasn't demons.
