And verse 20 it says, 13:58.280 --> 14:01.480 this water was poisoned and it left things barren. 14:01.800 --> 14:05.800 He said, bring me a new jar and put salt in it so they brought it to him. 14:06.280 --> 14:12.180 This is Elisha. Then Elisha went to the spring of water and threw the salt in it and said, 14:12.340 --> 14:15.360 thus sayeth the Lord, ooh, this is speaking on God's behalf. 14:16.160 --> 14:17.120 I not the Lord, but the Lord said, bring me a new jar and put salt in it so they brought it to him. 14:17.120 --> 14:20.360 Not the salt have purified and healed these waters. 14:21.360 --> 14:26.040 There shall no longer be death or barrenness because of it. 14:26.760 --> 14:31.800 So the waters have been purified to this day in accordance with the word spoken by Elisha. 14:31.960 --> 14:38.220 So what they had found out in history proves that even the women could not get pregnant 14:38.220 --> 14:42.960 or they'd miscarry and it was a continual, it was like a curse there. 14:42.960 --> 14:45.260 That's what I talked about in chapters before. 14:46.460 --> 14:53.020 And so when he put the salt in it, amplified, make sure that we know it wasn't the salt that healed the water. 14:53.540 --> 14:56.440 It was the Lord that healed the water. 14:57.380 --> 15:03.360 And so it says, not the salt, have purified, the Lord has said this, 15:03.760 --> 15:07.380 and not the salt said this, have purified and healed these waters. 15:07.560 --> 15:11.020 There shall no longer be death or barrenness because of it. 15:11.020 --> 15:17.220 And so his point was, you know, here they're trying to do all this work of hauling water in 15:17.800 --> 15:21.340 and the Lord's saying, you know, you need to become an artesian well. 15:21.460 --> 15:27.840 You need to become that water so full of me that wherever you go, it just springs up and it's pure. 15:28.540 --> 15:34.760 But then it led him to know that there's barrenness all through the Red Lake area. 15:35.060 --> 15:38.880 There's barrenness for the people and it's gone on for generations 15:38.880 --> 15:42.360 and the Lord is about to purify the water. 15:43.020 --> 15:47.220 And it was a very powerful moment to have that connection. 15:47.680 --> 15:53.480 We can have these same problems here in our own personal lives and things like that. 15:53.600 --> 16:01.160 So then, you know, I looked up, of course, the thought of salt is purification. 16:03.100 --> 16:09.560 The miracle performed by Elisha is rich in symbolic meaning and theological implications. 16:09.960 --> 16:18.060 Salt in the ancient Near Eastern context was a symbol of purification, preservation, and covenant. 16:19.220 --> 16:23.760 All three of those things are huge.
