So the first church, right? 00:38.660 --> 00:50.480 So that's what we're going to dig into. So when I was praying and I was reading the scripture, now there's many ways that we can describe corporate prayer. 00:50.480 --> 01:00.660 But the two words that were brought up to me was actually in the scripture. It's being with one accord in prayer with supplication. 01:01.200 --> 01:04.540 So being with one accord in one accord with supplication. 01:05.940 --> 01:18.860 So, and what those actually mean. So accord means agreement or harmony. And harmony means simultaneous combinations of tones. 01:19.720 --> 01:24.620 And I think that's pretty beautiful. If you have an imagination, you can understand that with people now. 01:25.340 --> 01:30.580 Supplication means humble petition and earnest petition. 01:31.740 --> 01:42.580 So as I was reading Acts from verse 4 all the way pretty much to verse 2, verse 4. 01:43.120 --> 01:54.500 When I was reading that, the Lord started to reveal to me how to get corporate prayer, things that arise that can distract corporate prayer. 01:55.420 --> 02:00.780 And so there was four things that he revealed to me through the scripture. We're going to break that down. 02:01.060 --> 02:08.200 The first one is just distraction less. The second one is the state of your mind and your heart. 02:08.960 --> 02:13.220 The third one is being in one vein. And the fourth one is action. 02:14.320 --> 02:17.180 So we're going to start with distraction less. 02:18.700 --> 02:27.620 So we're going to read a little bit of scripture. It says in verse, Acts chapter 1, verse 4. 02:47.180 --> 02:53.640 When they had come together, they asked him, saying, Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel? 02:54.060 --> 03:01.380 And he said to them, it is not for you to know times or seasons, which the Father has put in his own authority. 03:02.120 --> 03:13.260 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you and you shall be witness to me in Jerusalem and in Judea and Samaria and to the end of the earth. 03:13.980 --> 03:22.440 Now, when he had spoken these things while they watched, he was taken up and a cloud received him out of their sight. 03:22.760 --> 03:29.600 And while they were looking steadfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel. 03:30.300 --> 03:35.500 Who also said, men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? 03:35.500 --> 03:44.100 This same Jesus who is taken up from you in heaven will come in like manner as you saw him go into heaven. 03:44.620 --> 03:48.160 So there is two distractions that the Lord revealed to me here. 03:48.840 --> 03:52.260 The first thing he said, he gave them the promise. 03:52.540 --> 03:57.080 He gave them the purpose of staying in Jerusalem. 03:57.080 --> 04:03.820 He gave them, another word I'm trying to think of, he gave them directions. 04:04.620 --> 04:06.260 Instructions on what they're supposed to do. 04:06.720 --> 04:07.760 Almost like a vision. 04:07.960 --> 04:10.440 This is what I want you to fulfill right now. 04:11.860 --> 04:22.060 And in that, the first distraction, as soon as he finished telling them what their instruction was, they get distracted by asking him a completely different question. 04:22.060 --> 04:32.600 So Jesus spoke to them about the precious Holy Spirit was to come upon them, which is a Jeremiah or a New Testament covenant that was prophesied by Jeremiah. 04:33.560 --> 04:41.060 And they are distracted with physical happenings by asking Jesus about the physical kingdom of Israel, right? 04:41.620 --> 04:45.560 And they said, Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom of Israel? 04:46.080 --> 04:48.980 And I can imagine Jesus like, are you kidding me? 04:48.980 --> 04:51.760 Like, I've suffered with you for three and a half years. 04:52.180 --> 04:56.780 I've resurrected. I've not only died, but I've resurrected. I've been with you for 40 days. 04:57.260 --> 05:02.000 And now you're asking me if we're restoring the physical, you know, Israel, like the kingdom of Israel. 05:03.300 --> 05:08.140 But instead of sarcasm, the Lord chose mercy and grace. 05:08.980 --> 05:16.000 Because how I feel all the time and how I say, I feel like we're just toddlers waddling around trying to serve Jesus. 05:16.000 --> 05:19.160 And we stumble and we fall and we don't make the right thing. 05:19.320 --> 05:22.660 And he just, as we see toddlers, it's not our first reaction. 05:22.880 --> 05:25.340 It's like, oh, why can't you get it and you're angry? 05:25.880 --> 05:31.100 No, you just want to like pick them up and cuddle them and just teach them gently, right? 05:32.020 --> 05:38.980 And so what he does is he counters their question by redirecting them to the true kingdom of God, 05:39.500 --> 05:42.700 which he says later on is power and witness. 05:43.380 --> 05:48.960 That is the kingdom of God, to have the power of the Holy Spirit and to witness Jesus. 05:50.700 --> 06:00.240 And the interesting thing is as we go in that scripture, it says you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you 06:00.240 --> 06:07.260 and you shall be witnessed to mean Jerusalem and Judea and Samaria and to the end of the earth. 06:07.260 --> 06:15.440 So the Lord was telling them, hey, I'm giving you power and the ability to witness with the Holy Spirit in His power, 06:15.580 --> 06:18.720 not your power, in His power, but I'm giving you jurisdictions. 06:19.620 --> 06:25.840 First in Jerusalem. For them, Jerusalem was their home. That's their brothers and sisters. 06:26.400 --> 06:29.140 Those are their family. That's where they grew up, right? 06:29.780 --> 06:34.660 The next is Judea. Now, not only is it their, I would say intimate family, 06:34.660 --> 06:39.060 now they're taking a step back and broadening. Now, those are people that are around them. 06:39.140 --> 06:43.160 They're still brothers and sisters, relatives, people close to you, friendships. 06:44.020 --> 06:46.340 You have that jurisdiction because you have that relationship. 06:47.120 --> 06:56.760 And then, wider out is Samaria. Now, if you guys remember or know Samaritans are Jews that married Gentiles 06:56.760 --> 07:02.540 and so they became outcasts of Israel, but they are still in the bloodline. 07:02.540 --> 07:08.480 They still have a tie to Jerusalem. They still have a tie to Judea. 07:09.260 --> 07:12.840 And then, to the ends of the earth. That means everyone else. 07:13.420 --> 07:19.320 And so Holy Spirit gave or Jesus was giving us a word of, hey, you're going to have power, 07:19.600 --> 07:22.000 but not your power. It's only Holy Spirit's power. 07:22.540 --> 07:29.160 And you're going to be able to witness, but I'm giving you a jurisdiction on who and where you can witness to. 07:29.160 --> 07:35.920 Because if we witness to our families first, like, let's say, for example, sorry, 07:36.040 --> 07:40.560 if we witness to the ends of the earth first, but we're not witnessing to our family, 07:41.120 --> 07:43.720 that's not the heart of the Father, right? 07:46.840 --> 07:53.040 So then, the next distraction, Jesus counters them, redirecting them, hey, 07:53.540 --> 07:56.940 it's not about this physical kingdom. 07:56.940 --> 08:02.240 It's about this new kingdom I've been telling you months and years about, right? 08:02.760 --> 08:08.780 So then the next distraction, it says, Jesus ascends into the clouds, or a cloud takes him up. 08:09.100 --> 08:15.280 He ascends and the cloud takes him up. And they continue to look steadfastly towards heaven, right? 08:18.020 --> 08:23.740 And so they're distracted with the spiritual happenings around them. 08:23.740 --> 08:29.680 So not only is it the physical things, but now they're distracted with the spiritual things. 08:30.540 --> 08:36.060 Because this is something that I've never experienced, and I'm guessing most of you haven't either, 08:36.620 --> 08:41.720 of someone ascending to the heavens and then not seeing them anymore. 08:42.580 --> 08:46.880 That is like, that's like a miracle, just like Jesus resurrecting from the dead. 08:47.440 --> 08:50.480 That is like, no one's done that before, right? 08:51.900 --> 08:56.380 So they are now distracted and earnestly looking up to heaven. 08:56.940 --> 09:00.420 And I don't know, maybe in awe, as we can imagine. 09:00.960 --> 09:05.900 Maybe I'm thinking like, what's going in their brains that they're frozen still looking at the sky thinking, 09:06.480 --> 09:10.720 okay, maybe he's coming back now. He said he's going to come back, you know? 09:11.060 --> 09:15.580 And so they're distracted with the actual miracle of Jesus leaving. 09:16.000 --> 09:19.320 Instead of remembering, hey, Jesus told us we need to do something. 09:19.800 --> 09:24.740 They were like, no, but this, this is the cool thing. This is what I want, right? 09:26.180 --> 09:33.900 So then there were two angels that are two men that were in white right next to them, two angels. 09:36.160 --> 09:40.900 And they say, men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? 09:41.980 --> 09:46.060 Which is kind of, for me, it's like, what do you mean? Did you not see Jesus go up? 09:46.060 --> 09:53.820 Like, that's amazing. But they said this same Jesus who has taken up from you into heaven 09:53.820 --> 09:57.420 will come in a like manner as you saw him go into heaven. 09:57.900 --> 10:02.780 They're redirecting the disciples, they're countering the disciples 10:02.780 --> 10:06.500 and redirecting them to the real person of Jesus who is God. 10:07.160 --> 10:12.700 He is fully man, and maybe that was a concept for them, even though he resurrected from the dead 10:12.700 --> 10:19.320 and, you know, Philip touched, I believe it was Philip, he touched, oh, Thomas, thank you. 10:19.980 --> 10:23.900 Thomas touched the whole and, you know, all of these things. 10:24.020 --> 10:26.040 And he was walking through walls and visiting people. 10:26.840 --> 10:30.260 But they still kind of like, oh, but he's still a body, he's a human. 10:30.440 --> 10:32.900 It's hard for us to grasp some of the spiritual things. 10:33.640 --> 10:37.800 And so then now he resurrects and they're like, wait a second, you know? 10:37.800 --> 10:46.740 But the angels redirected them saying, hey, it's not about the miracle of Jesus of ascending into heaven. 10:47.140 --> 10:50.740 Even though that's good and it's important, it builds our faith. 10:51.220 --> 10:53.260 But he said it's about Jesus. 10:54.220 --> 10:58.660 You know, it's not about the miracle of healing, it's about the healer, right? 10:58.780 --> 11:01.880 We've heard that, we've meditated on that. 11:01.880 --> 11:11.300 And so they're just redirecting the attention of the disciples from this, you know, from the miracle to back to Jesus. 11:11.860 --> 11:14.320 And then I'm guessing they snapped out of it. 11:14.740 --> 11:18.280 And we keep on going to the next, where they go back home. 11:18.920 --> 11:24.460 So the next thing the Holy Spirit showed me is in order to be in corporate prayer, 11:24.700 --> 11:27.580 it has to be a state of mind and heart. 11:28.120 --> 11:29.980 And that can also distract us. 11:30.940 --> 11:40.960 So it says, then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day's journey. 11:41.280 --> 11:47.620 And when they had entered, they went up into the upper room where they were staying. 11:49.180 --> 11:58.940 So as you enter, or as they enter the building, you got to make sure you always go up to the place you're supposed to be staying in. 11:58.940 --> 12:00.420 Which is Jesus. 12:02.020 --> 12:07.040 So building means anything that is built or constructed. 12:08.040 --> 12:11.900 So for an example, what have you built or constructed in your life? 12:12.620 --> 12:19.920 It can be a lifestyle that you've built or constructed, relationships, a routine or a schedule. 12:20.480 --> 12:27.420 And all of those things are good, they're needed, we are needing to build the kingdom of God, we need to construct things. 12:28.500 --> 12:38.960 However, when these are constructed, when these constructs that you guys have, when you enter, you should always be staying in the upper room. 12:39.860 --> 12:48.740 So that's what it says in the word, it says, as they entered, they automatically went up into the upper room where they were staying. 12:48.900 --> 12:54.320 It's a state of mind of always, no matter what you're doing, you're always in the upper room with Jesus. 12:55.260 --> 13:00.640 And so when I think of the upper room, I think about the story of Acts 1. 13:01.140 --> 13:05.940 When I think of upper room, I'm thinking of intimacy, right? 13:06.080 --> 13:11.620 A husband and a wife, when they have intimacy, then it's closeness, then it's love. 13:12.540 --> 13:18.380 If you're married to a spouse and you don't have any intimacy, that's not even a marriage. 13:20.340 --> 13:30.360 So up here, he says they entered their construct, this building, the thing that they have built, but they automatically went up into the upper room. 13:33.010 --> 13:34.870 So the upper room is intimacy. 13:35.690 --> 13:42.210 And when you have intimacy, you're abiding with that person in every construct. 13:42.990 --> 13:46.710 I can be intimate with my husband if he's at work and I'm at home. 13:46.710 --> 13:51.090 But when we jump on a phone call, it's like we're connected as one, right?
