So kind of continuing on the, on what the Holy Spirit's been speaking all weekend. 00:27.060 --> 00:42.920 So John 21, okay. So John 21 says this, after these things, it says after these things, Jesus showed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberius. 00:43.320 --> 00:50.880 And in his way, he showed himself. So in other words, Jesus rose again from the dead and then started appearing. 00:50.880 --> 00:58.540 And there's a number of times the Scripture names them. Mark 16 names, all three times he named, he appeared. 00:58.940 --> 01:09.300 This is another time that he appeared. And so it says, Simon Peter, Thomas called the twin, Nathaniel, Kenan of Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and the two other the disciples were together. 01:10.000 --> 01:14.360 Simon Peter answered and said, I'm going fishing. And they said, we are going with you also. 01:15.360 --> 01:17.820 And they went out and immediately got into the boat. 01:17.820 --> 01:26.180 And that night they caught nothing. And when the morning had now come, Jesus stood on the shore. 01:27.300 --> 01:34.080 And yet the disciples didn't know that it was Jesus. And he said to them, cast the net on the right side of the boat. 01:41.120 --> 01:48.300 And you'll find some. And so they cast. Terrible joke. 02:48.980 --> 02:55.180 So it was as a multitude pressed about him to hear the word of God. 02:55.340 --> 03:02.620 He stood by the lake of Geneseret and he saw two boats standing by the lake and the fishermen had gone out of them and they were washing their nets. 03:02.840 --> 03:08.660 And he got into one of the boats, which was Simon's, and asked him to put him out a little from the land. 03:08.720 --> 03:11.360 And he sat down and he taught the multisuits from the boat. 03:11.860 --> 03:17.640 And when he had stopped speaking, he said to Simon, launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch. 03:18.160 --> 03:24.400 Simon answered and said, Master, we have toiled all night, right? 03:24.960 --> 03:28.360 And we've caught, what again? Nothing, right? 03:29.000 --> 03:31.480 Nevertheless, at your word, I'll let down the net. 03:31.580 --> 03:38.020 When they had done this, they caught a great multitude of fish so that they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. 03:38.020 --> 03:42.740 And filled both the boats with fish and they began to sink, right? 03:43.940 --> 03:54.100 So here in these two different occurrences, we see in the ministry of Jesus appearing here in John 21. 03:54.840 --> 03:58.100 And he says to them, go to the other side of the boat. 03:58.220 --> 04:03.020 Now, can you imagine how foolish that is? How many of you people have a boat? Anyone got a boat in here? 04:03.020 --> 04:09.460 All right. So can you imagine, you are... now, we're not talking about rod and reel fishing. 04:09.680 --> 04:11.920 We're talking about net fishing, okay? 04:12.280 --> 04:21.160 So with net fishing, often in Israel, they would throw this net out and it would cover an area and then they would draw it. 04:21.540 --> 04:26.660 And so they had been going at this a long time and they had caught nothing. 04:27.100 --> 04:31.680 And so here this crazy preacher from the shore, they don't even know it's Jesus. 04:32.300 --> 04:35.960 And they, he says, throw it on the other side of the boat. 04:36.100 --> 04:40.960 Now, can you imagine how stupid does that sound? I mean, what is the width of the boat? 04:41.340 --> 04:43.660 I mean, we're talking a matter of a few feet. 04:44.240 --> 04:47.060 And Jesus says, no, no, just throw it on the other side. 04:47.120 --> 04:51.920 And the Bible says it was a net breaking boat sinking catch. Is that right? 04:52.740 --> 04:59.180 And so this is what God began to speak to my heart about for this morning is living on the other side of the boat. 05:00.120 --> 05:03.400 Come on, push your neighbors say, live on the other side of the boat. 05:05.300 --> 05:10.340 Jesus was pushing them out of their comfort zone as Pastor Mary was saying earlier. 05:11.040 --> 05:19.180 And he was pushing them get on the other side, break your pattern, get over and get on the other side of the boat. 05:19.340 --> 05:19.880 Come on, right? 05:20.840 --> 05:28.540 And, you know, many times in Christendom, even amongst us Pentecostal Charismatics, we can get into patterns. 05:29.760 --> 05:34.620 Even Minnesota people. Come on, talk to me, Minnesota people. Is that right? 05:35.240 --> 05:37.260 And we can get into patterns, right? 05:37.740 --> 05:44.420 Maybe not Princeton people, maybe the rest of Minnesota, but we can get into patterns. Is that right? 07:41.720 --> 07:51.420 So, you know, whether it's praying in the spirit or whether it's where you sit or whether it's standing or I remember when I first got saved 07:51.420 --> 07:56.800 and I went to a Holy Ghost church with my friends and got filled with the spirit and they were all lifting their hands. 07:56.840 --> 08:05.360 And the moment they lifted their hands in worship, the freedom they had, man, it just instantly brought tears to my eyes. 08:05.520 --> 08:10.540 I'd never seen it before. I was a good Lutheran boy. Nobody raised their hands unless you had a question. 08:10.540 --> 08:13.560 Okay? Not in the Lutheran church, alright? 08:14.200 --> 08:21.060 And so, when I saw them lifting hands during worship, I mean, tears began to fill my eyes. Why? 08:21.460 --> 08:26.200 Because they were living on the other side of the boat. Come on, somebody, right? 08:27.000 --> 08:33.740 Or even other times, the Lord began to speak to me about other times about just responding to the spirit in an altar call. 08:33.740 --> 08:41.940 I remember in Bible school and there was a time, there was a message that was preached in chapel 08:41.940 --> 08:47.840 and it was so powerful and so convicting and God didn't tell me to do it, I just did it. 08:47.920 --> 08:52.580 I just responded to the spirit and I just ran to the altar. I was the only one. I didn't care. 08:52.960 --> 08:56.880 And I was just bawling my eyes out in the altar. What was I doing? 08:57.420 --> 08:59.840 Breaking the pattern and going to the other side of the boat. 09:01.740 --> 09:02.340 Amen. 09:03.360 --> 09:11.540 So whether it's spiritual gifts, whether it's outreach and evangelism, whether it's prayer, whatever it might be, 09:11.780 --> 09:15.120 God wants to get you to the other side of the boat. 09:15.260 --> 09:18.700 So prophesied to your neighbor, say, get on the other side of the boat. 09:20.380 --> 09:20.980 Okay. 09:21.700 --> 09:25.380 So there's something about moving to that other side. 09:25.540 --> 09:27.740 And I could give you hundreds of examples. 09:27.740 --> 09:30.700 So it was funny, Pastor Gary was here last night. 09:31.340 --> 09:36.860 And so I started as a pastor when I was very young. 09:36.940 --> 09:41.200 I was 20 years old and I was a youth pastor, then an associate pastor. 09:41.320 --> 09:47.220 And by the time I was 24, I started my church, my first church in New Jersey. 09:48.520 --> 09:55.800 And so as I did that, God was constantly speaking to me about stretching out of my comfort zone. 09:55.800 --> 09:57.820 Be willing to fail. 09:58.580 --> 10:00.220 In fact, God spoke to me one time. 10:00.360 --> 10:01.900 He said, if you're going to fail, fail big. 10:04.760 --> 10:05.600 Are you with me? 10:05.880 --> 10:07.800 Some people are like, ooh, I almost failed. 10:08.040 --> 10:08.640 You know, who cares? 10:09.000 --> 10:10.700 If you're going to fail, man, do it. 10:10.880 --> 10:11.220 You understand? 10:11.840 --> 10:14.680 And so that's what God began to just speak to me about. 10:14.820 --> 10:17.680 Just be willing to get to that other side of the boat. 10:18.640 --> 10:22.860 And then when I went to the traveling ministry, I'll never forget. 10:22.860 --> 10:26.480 I was ministering in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. 10:28.140 --> 10:34.960 And a Minnesota pastor from Marshall told me that, hey, I have a pastor friend I want you to preach for in Gettysburg. 10:35.180 --> 10:36.940 So I went to the East Coast. 10:37.160 --> 10:39.760 I was ministering all over New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania. 10:40.440 --> 10:42.180 And so I went to Gettysburg. 10:42.460 --> 10:45.700 But during that time, God was speaking to me about the word of knowledge. 10:45.700 --> 10:49.980 Because I had dipped into the word of knowledge a little bit, but very, very little. 10:50.760 --> 10:56.640 And so God started to speak to me and he said, you have to have this in your spiritual life. 10:57.380 --> 10:59.520 And you have to be willing to fail. 11:01.540 --> 11:01.760 Right? 11:02.200 --> 11:03.780 And so in other words, what was he saying? 11:04.260 --> 11:06.020 Tom, just get to the other side of the boat. 11:06.580 --> 11:07.620 Let down your nets. 11:07.800 --> 11:10.440 Just stretch your faith in this other way. 11:10.620 --> 11:14.160 So I'm in this church and it's hard to describe. 11:14.160 --> 11:22.480 But this church, it was a Wisconsin boy who went to Raymond and started a church there. 11:23.760 --> 11:29.440 And so on the back side of the stage, it was an apartment. 11:29.720 --> 11:31.360 They just called it a prophet's chamber. 11:32.000 --> 11:40.320 And so instead of a hotel, it was just literally like an extra room over there for the guest speakers. 11:41.260 --> 11:42.660 So I was back there. 11:42.660 --> 11:45.540 I'll never forget it was late in the night and I couldn't sleep. 11:45.680 --> 11:51.060 And so I just got up and I'm walking around the sanctuary praying in the spirit and just praying over the chairs. 11:51.700 --> 11:57.260 And when I did, they're sitting on one of the chairs is a sermon the pastor did. 11:57.440 --> 11:59.600 And it's called the word of knowledge. 12:00.800 --> 12:03.660 I picked that up, man. The hair in my neck stood up. 12:04.320 --> 12:09.860 And so I began to listen to that cassette again and again and again and again and again. 12:09.860 --> 12:14.780 So I started stretching my faith out there in this one area of the word of knowledge. 12:14.860 --> 12:19.380 And I just began to start to push myself and I minister down in Faribault. 12:19.600 --> 12:24.260 And I'll never forget the Lord just spoke to me and said, there's 22 people here with arthritis. 12:24.680 --> 12:27.260 Tell them to stand up and they'll be healed when they stand up. 12:27.920 --> 12:31.520 And I'm like, can I just say there's people here with arthritis? 12:31.800 --> 12:35.720 He said, no, there's 22 people. You've got to say 22 people. 12:36.360 --> 12:40.240 So I said, there's 22 people here with arthritis. This is in Faribault. 12:42.280 --> 12:45.040 And so 20 people stood up. 12:45.260 --> 12:48.660 And I'm like, no, there's two more people. And the Lord said, this is 1997, 1997. 13:41.980 --> 13:46.140 He says, there's someone here with an infected tongue. 13:46.340 --> 13:50.720 And I'm like, oh God, no. Come on, you have an infected tongue. 14:29.880 --> 14:33.140 And this girl starts bawling her eyes out in the back of the church. 14:33.260 --> 14:37.200 She runs down to the front and she was 19 years old. 14:37.280 --> 14:41.400 Her mother told her not to get her tongue pierced and she went and got her tongue pierced. 14:42.480 --> 14:48.820 And when she got her tongue pierced, the way that she had her tongue pierced went wrong 14:48.820 --> 14:52.660 and she got an infection and her tongue was twice this normal size. 14:52.660 --> 14:57.180 It looked like a cow tongue in her mouth. I'm like, how do you put all that in your mouth? 14:57.300 --> 14:58.100 Oh my gosh, you know? 14:59.620 --> 15:01.720 And she's bawling her eyes out. 15:02.700 --> 15:06.880 And so she said, nobody knows about this and its pus is coming. 15:07.300 --> 15:08.620 It was a terrible scene. 15:09.520 --> 15:13.220 And she hadn't gone to the doctor or anything. She didn't know what to do. 15:14.360 --> 15:17.580 And so I wasn't like, stick your tongue out here. 15:17.680 --> 15:21.280 You know, I wasn't going to do that, but I just put my hand on her face. 15:21.280 --> 15:25.420 And I said, in the name of Jesus, I command that thing be healed. 15:25.720 --> 15:31.420 And God's honest truth right there in front of everybody in that church that night, 15:31.820 --> 15:35.860 God healed her tongue and sealed that thing up and it was completely covered. 15:36.060 --> 15:37.300 Come on, give the Lord a hand, amen. 15:39.060 --> 15:42.520 But I had to step on the other side of the boat. Come on, amen. 15:43.580 --> 15:46.620 I remember, you know, I shared some of my story. 15:46.620 --> 15:51.660 When I was in high school, I broke my neck in a wrestling accident. 15:52.720 --> 15:59.920 And from that time, gifts of healings began to operate in my life when I got saved after I got healed. 16:01.120 --> 16:04.380 And everywhere we would go, people would get healed of back injuries. 16:05.040 --> 16:07.260 It wouldn't matter what we were praying for. 16:07.380 --> 16:10.060 We could call people up for marriage, healing in their marriage. 16:10.420 --> 16:13.080 And people would be like, oh, my back just popped, you know. 16:13.080 --> 16:16.680 And so Susie and I would kind of laugh about it and stuff. 16:18.700 --> 16:24.840 But in 2003, we heard of an evangelist, a very controversial guy, 16:25.680 --> 16:30.220 that had a lot of people with deafness healed in his ministry. 16:31.200 --> 16:34.660 And so Susie and I met him and had dinner with him and stuff. 16:35.360 --> 16:37.900 And I said, tell me the story about this. 16:38.100 --> 16:40.520 How come you have so many deaf people here? 16:40.520 --> 16:47.200 And he began to tear up and he said, my mother, my mother was deaf her whole life. 16:48.140 --> 16:56.560 And he said, when we buried my mother, he said, I declared war on deafness at her grave. 16:57.300 --> 16:58.380 Come on, somebody. 16:59.120 --> 17:03.200 And he said it was just like an eruption of miracles for deafness. 17:03.260 --> 17:04.780 He said ever since that time. 17:05.020 --> 17:08.740 So Susie and I began to say, we're going to fast every Wednesday 17:08.740 --> 17:14.560 for revival in that church and for miracles, especially for deafness. 17:15.520 --> 17:20.720 And I think we laid hands on everyone with hearing problems in 2003 17:20.720 --> 17:22.280 and I think they got more deaf. 17:24.960 --> 17:29.220 And it wasn't until the latter part of 2003, 2004, whatever it was, 17:29.540 --> 17:32.280 that boom, all of the Sunday began to erupt. 17:32.560 --> 17:36.520 And we began to see just a flurry of people get healed of that. 17:36.520 --> 17:39.960 What was it? Isn't that nuts? 18:31.180 --> 18:36.240 And, but part of it is, is because living on the other side of the boat, 18:36.360 --> 18:37.720 it's so comfortable and dry. 18:39.380 --> 18:42.220 It's so safe over there.
