WEBVTT 00:00.000 --> 00:02.720 Um, good morning. Sorry, again. 00:03.080 --> 00:06.680 I hope everyone's doing well. It's a beautiful morning. 00:07.000 --> 00:10.100 Another day we get to know our Lord Jesus. 00:10.680 --> 00:12.760 Another day we get to spend with Him. 00:13.380 --> 00:16.360 Another day we get to depend on Him, to cling on Him. 00:16.640 --> 00:17.660 It's an honor, honestly. 00:18.420 --> 00:20.780 And I thank God every morning I wake up, 00:20.880 --> 00:23.640 I'll thank you Jesus, that I get to know you today 00:23.640 --> 00:24.520 in a deeper way. 00:25.220 --> 00:28.520 So today in prayer, I was actually praying about this 00:28.520 --> 00:29.460 a couple of weeks ago. 00:30.660 --> 00:32.940 And God started talking to me out of Genesis 00:34.900 --> 00:35.720 about Jacob. 00:36.520 --> 00:38.960 And the phrase that came to me was, 00:39.120 --> 00:40.660 come, wrestle with us and win. 00:41.200 --> 00:43.180 And I think as you hear that, 00:43.320 --> 00:45.000 you kind of know what scripture I'm talking about. 00:45.500 --> 00:46.860 But we're going to be talking about Jacob. 00:47.140 --> 00:49.800 And when Jacob was wrestling with God, 00:50.600 --> 00:51.920 and then he got the blessing. 00:52.840 --> 00:54.460 So we're going to jump right into it 00:54.460 --> 00:56.280 because I really want to pray today. 00:56.840 --> 00:59.140 And I have double the notes that I did last time. 00:59.400 --> 01:01.160 So I was praying to the Lord, I'm like, please, 01:01.340 --> 01:03.380 can you just either slow down time 01:03.380 --> 01:06.260 or speed up my speaking so that everyone gets in 01:06.260 --> 01:07.380 and we can go right to prayer. 01:08.080 --> 01:10.340 Because last time we only had 10 minutes of prayer 01:10.340 --> 01:11.620 and I'm like, not enough. 01:13.660 --> 01:16.660 So we're going to read Genesis 32, 01:17.200 --> 01:18.300 24 through 31. 01:19.080 --> 01:20.080 We're just going to read over 01:20.080 --> 01:21.120 and then we're going to dive in. 01:21.120 --> 01:24.140 So at 24, 01:26.860 --> 01:27.580 it says, 01:27.880 --> 01:29.180 Then Jacob was left alone 01:29.180 --> 01:32.040 and a man wrestled with him 01:32.040 --> 01:33.820 until the breaking of day. 01:34.460 --> 01:36.780 Now when he saw that he did not prevail 01:37.520 --> 01:40.480 against him, he touched the socket of his hip. 01:40.920 --> 01:43.800 And the socket of Jacob's hip was out of joint 01:43.800 --> 01:45.220 as he wrestled with him. 01:45.840 --> 01:49.040 And he said, let me go for the day breaks. 01:49.040 --> 01:52.820 But he said, I will not let you go unless you bless me. 01:53.300 --> 01:55.240 So he said to him, what is your name? 01:55.640 --> 01:56.640 And he said, Jacob. 01:57.220 --> 01:59.980 And he said, your name shall no longer be called Jacob, 02:00.260 --> 02:03.000 but Israel, for you have struggled with God 02:03.000 --> 02:04.720 and with men and have prevailed. 02:05.300 --> 02:08.140 Then Jacob asked, saying, tell me your name, 02:08.200 --> 02:08.560 I pray. 02:08.860 --> 02:12.440 And he said, why is it that you ask about my name? 02:12.580 --> 02:14.000 And he blessed him there. 02:14.600 --> 02:17.520 So Jacob called the name of the place, 02:18.720 --> 02:20.760 Peniel, if I'm not mistaken. 02:21.580 --> 02:23.540 For I have seen God face to face 02:23.540 --> 02:25.700 and my life is preserved. 02:25.980 --> 02:29.520 Just as he crossed over Peniel, 02:30.200 --> 02:32.560 sorry, the sun rose on him 02:32.560 --> 02:34.400 and he limped on his hip. 02:35.720 --> 02:40.260 So this is actually a very mysterious scripture 02:40.260 --> 02:42.420 that a lot of scholars can't decipher, 02:42.960 --> 02:44.420 which is interesting because 02:44.420 --> 02:47.300 even though it's simply laid out, 02:47.480 --> 02:49.020 there's not much detail to it. 02:49.920 --> 02:54.720 And so it is filled with a lot of mystery and depth 02:54.720 --> 02:57.240 and a lot of scholars, like I said, can't decipher it. 02:57.620 --> 02:59.460 And I actually love... 02:59.460 --> 03:01.460 I mean one thing I love about the Word of God 03:01.460 --> 03:02.880 is it's living and it's breathing 03:02.880 --> 03:06.280 and every word and every punctuation 03:06.280 --> 03:09.440 has so much layers and depth to it 03:09.440 --> 03:12.880 that I feel like I know this 03:12.880 --> 03:14.800 and I feel like I still don't understand 03:14.800 --> 03:16.800 how much depth every single word 03:16.800 --> 03:19.200 of the Word of God has to it. 03:19.800 --> 03:23.100 And so I love that we have mystery in the Lord, right? 03:24.080 --> 03:25.840 So Jacob is one of the humans 03:25.840 --> 03:27.400 that we can actually relate to 03:27.400 --> 03:30.420 and we're going to dive into some of his history 03:30.420 --> 03:31.640 to give you an understanding 03:31.640 --> 03:34.460 of how relatable his life is to us 03:34.460 --> 03:36.680 and how much... 03:36.680 --> 03:38.100 Now I'm not going to put this on you, 03:38.120 --> 03:40.300 but I know for me how much I am like him 03:40.300 --> 03:42.220 in the decisions that I've made before. 03:43.340 --> 03:45.100 So, let's go... 03:45.100 --> 03:46.640 So Jacob, the name of Jacob, 03:46.820 --> 03:49.420 actually means a heal follower 03:49.420 --> 03:51.180 or a supplanter. 03:51.900 --> 03:54.620 Which supplanter, if I'm saying that correctly again, 03:54.880 --> 03:56.580 forgive me, supplanter means 03:56.580 --> 03:58.620 it takes a place of another 03:59.200 --> 04:01.880 through force, strategy, or cunning. 04:02.460 --> 04:03.920 Which is interesting 04:03.920 --> 04:05.540 and my thought process is 04:05.540 --> 04:08.320 is that what it meant before 04:08.320 --> 04:09.980 he was named that 04:09.980 --> 04:12.480 or was that already placed to his name 04:12.480 --> 04:14.180 after all the decisions he made? 04:14.540 --> 04:16.360 I don't know, but I just thought 04:16.360 --> 04:17.200 that was really interesting. 04:17.900 --> 04:20.860 So Jacob was a deceiver from the beginning 04:21.760 --> 04:24.160 and he deceived to get what he wants. 04:24.660 --> 04:26.340 And one of the things that he wants 04:26.340 --> 04:27.360 which you see through 04:27.360 --> 04:29.540 is actually a good thing. 04:29.800 --> 04:31.240 He just chose the wrong path. 04:31.360 --> 04:34.360 He wants the Word of God that God gave to Rebecca 04:34.360 --> 04:36.740 about him and about Esau. 04:36.900 --> 04:39.420 And he wanted it to be fulfilled. 04:40.840 --> 04:42.460 So one of the things 04:42.460 --> 04:44.960 I think that really solidified 04:44.960 --> 04:46.960 who Jacob was 04:46.960 --> 04:48.880 was obviously his upbringing. 04:49.840 --> 04:51.880 Now a lot of these issues as adults 04:51.880 --> 04:52.720 that we have 04:52.720 --> 04:54.580 stem from our childhood. 04:55.120 --> 04:56.940 It stems from the way that we grew up, 04:57.040 --> 04:58.140 the way that we were treated, 04:59.000 --> 05:01.600 the way how our parents were 05:01.600 --> 05:04.180 because they are set as an example before us. 05:04.740 --> 05:05.700 And so for me, 05:05.980 --> 05:07.400 I think looking at this 05:07.400 --> 05:09.000 story of Jacob, 05:09.700 --> 05:11.780 I think a lot of it happened between 05:13.000 --> 05:15.940 a lot of the decisions he decided to make 05:15.940 --> 05:17.520 happened because there was 05:17.520 --> 05:18.740 a strain 05:19.450 --> 05:21.100 between Isaac and Rebecca. 05:21.940 --> 05:23.680 And so there were a couple of things 05:23.680 --> 05:25.120 that happened 05:25.120 --> 05:27.360 in the scripture as we break down 05:27.360 --> 05:29.220 like a couple chapters before 05:30.500 --> 05:32.040 about Isaac and Rebecca. 05:33.760 --> 05:35.040 But as you know, 05:35.200 --> 05:36.640 kids receive a lot from their parents. 05:36.740 --> 05:38.140 So when they see their parents 05:38.140 --> 05:40.920 do one thing at church and one thing at home, 05:41.580 --> 05:43.900 that kind of messes with their brain, right? 05:44.320 --> 05:46.480 Or if they see their parent lie to them 05:46.480 --> 05:48.840 and then later on tell them the truth 05:48.840 --> 05:51.280 and not really ask for forgiveness, 05:51.980 --> 05:53.200 it messes with their brain. 05:53.340 --> 05:54.760 So there are certain things that actually 05:54.760 --> 05:57.120 can alternate our brain. 05:57.120 --> 05:59.380 And so one of the first things 05:59.380 --> 06:01.540 that happened as a strain 06:01.540 --> 06:02.980 between Isaac and Rebecca 06:04.000 --> 06:06.420 was that they had no children for 20 years. 06:06.700 --> 06:08.620 It says that Isaac, when he married Rebecca, 06:08.760 --> 06:09.440 he was 40. 06:10.040 --> 06:11.980 And then when Jacob and Esau were born, 06:12.060 --> 06:13.040 he was 60. 06:14.540 --> 06:16.080 Yeah, just wanted to make sure. 06:16.900 --> 06:17.500 But anyways, 06:18.340 --> 06:21.100 that's 20 years of infertility. 06:22.240 --> 06:23.360 And obviously, 06:23.880 --> 06:25.420 we all, most of us, 06:25.420 --> 06:26.800 can experience and understand, 06:27.120 --> 06:28.320 especially as a woman, 06:29.040 --> 06:30.520 when you can't bear children, 06:31.060 --> 06:33.260 it's hard because we feel like 06:33.260 --> 06:35.280 we're destined to do that, right? 06:35.900 --> 06:37.540 And so I'm sure 06:37.540 --> 06:40.140 it brought a strain between Isaac and Rebecca. 06:40.920 --> 06:43.160 And we can already play that out in our minds. 06:43.380 --> 06:45.140 He blamed her, she blamed him. 06:45.720 --> 06:47.420 There was a lot of condemnation, 06:48.060 --> 06:49.680 a lot of hurt. 06:50.680 --> 06:53.680 And so Isaac did plead to God 06:53.680 --> 06:55.380 for the sake of Rebecca. 06:56.140 --> 06:57.620 And God answered his plea 06:57.620 --> 06:58.680 and opened up her womb. 06:59.500 --> 07:01.220 But it took 20 years to get there. 07:01.960 --> 07:03.180 The next thing is 07:03.180 --> 07:06.120 the ability they had to lie to each other. 07:07.060 --> 07:08.740 And one of the scriptures I take out 07:08.740 --> 07:10.560 was when Rebecca was telling Jacob, 07:10.800 --> 07:12.900 hey, lie to your father 07:12.900 --> 07:15.040 and I'll have the curse on me. 07:15.320 --> 07:18.020 Which is a dangerous thing to say. 07:18.760 --> 07:19.940 But as a wife, 07:20.580 --> 07:22.280 I can't imagine telling my children, 07:22.280 --> 07:24.080 hey, just don't tell your dad. 07:24.440 --> 07:26.100 Like, he doesn't need to know. 07:26.820 --> 07:29.860 It's like, no, I'm already trying to lie 07:29.860 --> 07:31.880 and have my children lie to my father. 07:32.120 --> 07:34.080 That messes with the brain. 07:34.280 --> 07:35.980 It says, okay, there's a division there. 07:36.780 --> 07:37.820 The next thing, jealousy. 07:38.860 --> 07:39.980 I think there was jealousy 07:39.980 --> 07:42.140 within their relationship and the kids saw it. 07:43.460 --> 07:45.960 Because though Jacob pleaded with God 07:45.960 --> 07:48.580 to open up Rebecca's womb, 07:49.340 --> 07:51.600 Rebecca actually inquired of God. 07:52.200 --> 07:54.380 That's two ways of approaching God. 07:54.880 --> 07:56.460 One is, God, please answer my quest. 07:56.640 --> 07:58.600 Please answer my quest. Please answer my quest. 07:59.260 --> 08:01.620 And on this side is like, Lord, 08:02.020 --> 08:03.380 why is this happening? 08:03.780 --> 08:04.720 Like, it's a conversation. 08:05.040 --> 08:06.280 I'm inquiring about this. 08:06.340 --> 08:07.980 I'm not asking you to do it for me. 08:08.300 --> 08:11.200 I'm inquiring of what your thoughts are on the situation. 08:11.560 --> 08:14.180 And so Rebecca inquired of God 08:14.180 --> 08:15.860 and she actually received a word. 08:16.700 --> 08:20.280 And that was early on between Isaac, 08:20.600 --> 08:22.700 I mean, sorry, between Jacob and Esau 08:22.700 --> 08:23.880 and their destinies. 08:24.400 --> 08:27.640 And maybe Isaac didn't want to receive that word. 08:27.880 --> 08:30.600 Maybe he was jealous that she got it first and he didn't. 08:30.720 --> 08:32.920 Maybe he was jealous over her relationship with the Lord. 08:33.060 --> 08:34.240 I don't know. I don't know that. 08:34.360 --> 08:36.880 But I know that there was something happening there 08:36.880 --> 08:38.520 that caused strife in their marriage. 08:39.280 --> 08:42.080 The next thing is they were choosing their children 08:42.080 --> 08:43.120 over their spouse. 08:44.240 --> 08:47.380 And unfortunately, this is a big issue even now 08:47.380 --> 08:48.400 through the ages. 08:49.040 --> 08:50.200 It's a big issue. 08:51.380 --> 08:53.560 And so, because it says he loved Esau, 08:53.680 --> 08:54.960 Jacob loved Esau. 08:55.440 --> 08:58.220 But it's interesting because it says he loved Esau 08:59.140 --> 09:00.760 in the scripture one second. 09:01.140 --> 09:02.700 I'm just going to say it with my own words 09:02.700 --> 09:04.200 because it's going to take me a minute 09:04.200 --> 09:05.000 and I really want to pray. 09:05.480 --> 09:13.100 But it says he loved Esau for what he can do. 09:13.100 --> 09:15.100 He made into food for Jacob. 09:16.140 --> 09:18.460 So there was a sense of like, 09:18.600 --> 09:20.560 well, I love you because you do this for me. 09:20.900 --> 09:22.740 You make me game. You make me food. 09:23.160 --> 09:26.700 But then it says, and Rebecca loved Jacob. 09:27.020 --> 09:28.020 And that was it. 09:28.680 --> 09:31.160 So it's interesting that they chose children. 09:32.000 --> 09:35.940 And so we can understand why Jacob loved Esau, 09:36.560 --> 09:38.300 you know, and er, sorry, 09:39.040 --> 09:40.920 why Isaac loved Esau. 09:40.920 --> 09:43.140 And for Rebecca loving Jacob, 09:43.340 --> 09:44.780 it doesn't give us much context. 09:44.940 --> 09:46.500 But I can also understand that 09:46.500 --> 09:48.900 maybe she knew the destiny on Jacob 09:48.900 --> 09:51.740 that he was supposed to be the first, right? 09:51.820 --> 09:53.400 He was supposed to inherit that promise. 09:53.640 --> 09:56.780 Maybe it was seeing that Isaac was ignoring Jacob. 09:57.060 --> 09:58.220 And as a mother, 09:58.980 --> 10:00.860 you want to fulfill that love. 10:01.160 --> 10:02.520 You see when someone is hurting, 10:02.680 --> 10:03.880 you want to give that love. 10:06.120 --> 10:07.740 Or it could be 10:07.740 --> 10:09.680 there was tension in the marriage 10:09.680 --> 10:11.120 and she just wanted to spite Isaac. 10:11.500 --> 10:13.300 It happens to us women, like it does. 10:13.660 --> 10:15.460 And so maybe she was personally doing that 10:15.460 --> 10:17.700 just to her Isaac, her husband. 10:18.780 --> 10:21.960 But it caused, and I think 10:21.960 --> 10:23.900 with the result of all this tension, 10:24.600 --> 10:26.000 I think it caused Rebecca 10:26.500 --> 10:29.200 to share God's promise to Jacob 10:29.200 --> 10:31.700 in a very personal, ambitious way. 10:32.000 --> 10:33.680 Of like, hey, God chose you. 10:34.080 --> 10:35.300 You are the chosen one. 10:35.380 --> 10:37.760 She kind of poured into him a little bit more. 10:37.760 --> 10:39.980 And maybe with all of these issues building up, 10:40.060 --> 10:41.260 it would have caused him 10:41.260 --> 10:45.040 to solidify him into the decisions that he made. 10:45.600 --> 10:48.800 And maybe with Rebecca being in the place that she was at, 10:49.280 --> 10:52.580 she couldn't see 10:52.580 --> 10:54.540 the faithfulness of God, really, 10:55.040 --> 10:56.460 of how this is going to work out 10:56.460 --> 10:59.440 and maybe causing it to take it into my own hands. 10:59.660 --> 11:01.420 Because later on, she said, 11:01.920 --> 11:04.280 lie to Isaac, Jacob. 11:05.400 --> 11:06.260 The curse will be on me. 11:06.260 --> 11:07.640 I will prepare for the food. 11:07.720 --> 11:10.000 She was the one that mentioned it to do it to Jacob, 11:10.340 --> 11:11.720 to lie to his father. 11:12.140 --> 11:14.180 So there is something in her where she's like, 11:14.200 --> 11:15.860 well, we have to fulfill this promise. 11:16.320 --> 11:19.140 Like, for some reason, I don't know how it's going to play out, 11:19.140 --> 11:20.140 but I will make it work. 11:20.260 --> 11:21.500 Like, we are going to make this work. 11:23.120 --> 11:25.680 So there was tension between the brothers. 11:26.580 --> 11:28.600 And I think this might have fueled Jacob 11:28.600 --> 11:32.420 to make his deceptive decisions, right? 11:33.280 --> 11:34.840 So with all this mess, 11:34.840 --> 11:37.200 Jacob decided to take the word of God, 11:37.320 --> 11:39.600 or this destiny, into his own hands by deceiving. 11:40.180 --> 11:42.700 He was deceived, you saw, with a birthright. 11:42.960 --> 11:44.320 He didn't really care for his brother. 11:44.540 --> 11:46.180 He only wanted to secure his destiny. 11:46.660 --> 11:47.980 So he said, hey, I'll give you food 11:47.980 --> 11:49.960 if you give me your birthright, right? 11:50.500 --> 11:52.280 That sounds very selfish to me. 11:53.300 --> 11:55.080 I don't care about your well-being. 11:55.200 --> 11:56.420 I want to feed you, you know, 11:56.540 --> 11:58.320 but give me something in return. 11:58.980 --> 12:00.500 So he didn't rely on God there. 12:01.140 --> 12:02.320 The father's blessing. 12:02.320 --> 12:06.120 He lies to Isaac about who he is 12:06.120 --> 12:07.520 in order to secure the blessing 12:07.520 --> 12:09.960 or the destiny by his mother's order. 12:10.060 --> 12:12.440 So they both didn't trust God in fulfilling his word, 12:12.560 --> 12:15.000 and they did it on their own will. 12:16.360 --> 12:18.180 And he did what was best for him 12:18.180 --> 12:21.020 when he was with Laban, his father-in-law. 12:21.520 --> 12:22.900 There was a time where he said, 12:22.920 --> 12:25.540 okay, I want to establish my own household. 12:26.060 --> 12:29.420 And so he ended up kind of cheating Laban out 12:29.420 --> 12:31.800 in creating a system. 12:35.300 --> 12:37.840 He created a system that gives Laban 12:38.220 --> 12:41.760 the febler sheep while giving him 12:41.760 --> 12:42.820 the stronger sheep. 12:43.220 --> 12:44.680 So he cheated him out there, 12:45.040 --> 12:46.860 and then also fleeing Laban. 12:47.480 --> 12:48.680 He was going to leave, 12:49.160 --> 12:50.740 and he didn't tell his father-in-law 12:50.740 --> 12:51.440 that he was going to leave. 12:51.560 --> 12:53.320 Now, Laban is a whole different story. 12:53.780 --> 12:55.980 Sometimes we can justify and be like, 12:55.980 --> 12:59.380 oh, well, Laban also didn't make the wisest decision. 12:59.560 --> 13:02.080 He was also kind of cheating Jacob out. 13:02.400 --> 13:04.180 But that doesn't matter, right? 13:04.660 --> 13:06.100 If somebody's cheating us out, 13:06.700 --> 13:08.940 that doesn't mean we have the right to cheat them back, right? 13:09.520 --> 13:11.560 And so anyway, so now we're focusing on Jacob. 13:11.820 --> 13:13.600 So he did that. 13:13.880 --> 13:16.320 So Jacob knows that the Lord is with him 13:16.320 --> 13:17.620 by the blessings that follow. 13:18.020 --> 13:20.600 He has wives, his children, the great possessions. 13:21.240 --> 13:23.400 Laban's possessions while he's working for him 13:23.400 --> 13:24.740 increase exponentially. 13:25.220 --> 13:27.080 And even when they decide to leave, 13:27.340 --> 13:30.300 the Lord actually showed up to Jacob in multiple facets. 13:30.840 --> 13:33.720 But yet he still chose to fulfill this will 13:33.720 --> 13:35.880 that God gave him by his own hands 13:35.880 --> 13:37.240 instead of trusting the Lord. 13:38.040 --> 13:39.700 So now we are leading up to the wrestle. 13:40.340 --> 13:43.000 And Jacob is faced with his past trauma 13:43.000 --> 13:43.900 and his choices. 13:44.700 --> 13:46.860 So he now needs to encounter his brother 13:46.860 --> 13:49.200 that he wronged and he has to find reconciliation. 13:50.020 --> 13:51.980 And it's interesting because that happens 13:51.980 --> 13:53.520 after he comes to a place 13:53.520 --> 13:56.720 and he calls it, this is God's camp. 13:57.780 --> 13:59.840 And I think something at that place, 14:00.000 --> 14:01.520 the presence of God touched him 14:01.520 --> 14:04.400 where he's like, I know I'm going to my own country, 14:04.540 --> 14:07.700 my homeland, but man, I gotta reconcile with my brother. 14:08.220 --> 14:10.120 There's something there that caused him to do that. 14:11.160 --> 14:13.820 So he has to face himself with who he is. 14:14.080 --> 14:16.200 He is a deceiver and a proud man 14:16.200 --> 14:18.260 which results in a messy journey. 14:18.960 --> 14:21.000 So God is leading Jacob in a journey 14:21.000 --> 14:22.220 where he needs to correct him 14:22.220 --> 14:25.240 so that Jacob can actually fulfill this promise 14:25.240 --> 14:28.140 that was given to him to fulfill. 14:29.080 --> 14:31.140 So he sends a message to Esau 14:31.880 --> 14:33.340 and the messenger tells Jacob 14:33.340 --> 14:35.440 that his brother is coming with 400 people 14:35.440 --> 14:37.900 and that freaks Jacob out a little bit 14:37.900 --> 14:40.380 and he tries to deal with it again in his own power. 14:41.160 --> 14:43.280 So since he is the promise, 14:43.460 --> 14:45.400 he feels that he's doing the righteous thing. 14:45.540 --> 14:47.380 This is a promise that was given me. 14:47.800 --> 14:49.200 I need to fulfill it. 14:49.200 --> 14:51.640 And how many times have we done that in our lives? 14:51.760 --> 14:53.360 The Lord promised me this promise. 14:53.540 --> 14:56.300 I'm gonna do whatever I can to make sure that it happens. 14:56.920 --> 14:58.640 Now there are steps of faith 14:58.640 --> 15:00.840 that we do have to take in order to fulfill 15:01.600 --> 15:03.260 but that doesn't mean I get to do it 15:03.260 --> 15:05.500 in the way that I want it fulfilled, right? 15:06.780 --> 15:12.220 And so he is trying to do another strategy 15:12.220 --> 15:16.280 to deceive Esau by distracting him 15:16.280 --> 15:18.080 with the groups of people that he has. 15:18.080 --> 15:20.900 So he takes everything he has, he divides it in two. 15:21.280 --> 15:23.120 He's like, this is the gifts. 15:23.320 --> 15:26.080 I'm gonna try to douse him with as much gifts as I can 15:26.080 --> 15:27.620 distract him with all these gifts 15:27.620 --> 15:30.720 so that when my family comes and my children comes, 15:31.020 --> 15:33.700 he'll be like, oh, well, he got me so many gifts. 15:34.060 --> 15:35.600 I won't be as mad or whatever. 15:36.180 --> 15:37.860 But it's interesting how he does that 15:37.860 --> 15:41.680 because, again, he's putting himself first. 15:41.900 --> 15:43.120 He's thinking about himself. 15:43.700 --> 15:46.680 He puts the gifts, his wife and children 15:46.680 --> 15:48.240 and then himself. 15:49.000 --> 15:51.600 He's putting his wife and kids in front of him 15:51.600 --> 15:54.660 to walk out to an angry brother that's wanting to kill him. 15:55.120 --> 15:58.400 Like, as a wife, I'd be very upset. 15:59.520 --> 16:03.960 So anyways, so he prays to God 16:03.960 --> 16:06.320 and there's actually something that does happen here 16:06.320 --> 16:08.100 in his prayer to God 16:08.100 --> 16:11.340 that kind of shows a little bit of a shift of character 16:11.340 --> 16:13.500 because now in his prayer, 16:15.000 --> 16:16.620 it's a prayer of vulnerability 16:16.620 --> 16:18.280 and transparency to God. 16:18.780 --> 16:20.040 And you can see in this prayer, 16:20.120 --> 16:21.940 he starts to cling to the Lord a little bit 16:21.940 --> 16:23.600 because he understands he can't do this. 16:24.480 --> 16:26.620 He's already made a huge mess of things. 16:26.780 --> 16:28.600 He's been lying after lie after lie. 16:29.320 --> 16:31.220 And now he has to face his brother 16:32.000 --> 16:34.180 and he's like, he's going to kill me. 16:34.500 --> 16:35.340 Like, I just know it. 16:35.820 --> 16:39.740 And so it's interesting, his prayer, 16:39.740 --> 16:43.580 he said, one second. 16:44.580 --> 16:46.680 Oh, God of my father Abraham, 16:46.920 --> 16:48.280 God of my father Isaac, 16:48.460 --> 16:50.480 the Lord who said to me, 16:50.880 --> 16:52.660 return to your country, to your family 16:52.660 --> 16:54.620 and I will deal well with you. 16:55.200 --> 16:58.440 I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies 16:58.440 --> 17:02.060 and of all the truth which you have shown your servant. 17:02.700 --> 17:05.180 For I crossed over this Jordan with my staff 17:05.600 --> 17:07.400 and now I have become two companies. 17:08.180 --> 17:10.420 Deliver me, I pray, from the hand of my brother, 17:10.680 --> 17:11.760 from the hand of Esau, 17:12.240 --> 17:15.020 for I fear him lest he come and attack me 17:15.020 --> 17:16.660 and the mother with the children. 17:17.400 --> 17:19.920 For you said I will surely treat you well 17:19.920 --> 17:22.500 and make your descendants as the sand of the sea 17:22.500 --> 17:24.500 which cannot be numbered for a multitude. 17:25.400 --> 17:28.020 So he's bringing God's promise back to him 17:28.020 --> 17:30.120 and he's saying, I can't do this. 17:30.280 --> 17:31.620 You are the one who said this 17:31.620 --> 17:32.820 and he brings it back 17:32.820 --> 17:33.600 and it shows vulnerability 17:33.920 --> 17:35.720 and transparency of what's happening. 17:38.100 --> 17:42.320 So, now after that he sends everyone out 17:42.320 --> 17:44.140 and now he's alone. 17:44.900 --> 17:46.540 And this is where the wrestle happens 17:46.540 --> 17:48.980 and this is where a lot of scholars 17:48.980 --> 17:52.320 are very mystified by this event. 17:53.040 --> 17:55.500 And so it's interesting because he sends everyone out 17:55.500 --> 17:57.140 and it says in the scripture 17:57.880 --> 17:59.780 that he was left alone. 18:00.400 --> 18:03.580 And it's interesting because have you ever been left alone? 18:03.580 --> 18:06.300 You feel you're very self-aware. 18:06.620 --> 18:07.960 Let's just put it that way. 18:08.620 --> 18:11.620 You feel who you are 18:11.620 --> 18:14.640 because there's no one to bounce yourself back from. 18:15.360 --> 18:17.380 And when you are left alone 18:17.380 --> 18:20.160 we have a full realization of who we are 18:20.820 --> 18:23.400 and we have a full realization of what we've done 18:23.980 --> 18:25.680 and it really opens our eyes. 18:25.920 --> 18:28.500 So if you notice we as humans don't like to always be alone 18:28.500 --> 18:30.680 and if we are alone especially nowadays 18:30.680 --> 18:32.540 it's easy just to distract ourselves 18:32.540 --> 18:34.960 with a movie or with our phone or something. 18:35.340 --> 18:36.640 We don't want to be alone. 18:36.940 --> 18:39.320 Our flesh doesn't want us to be alone 18:39.320 --> 18:40.540 because it has an understanding 18:40.540 --> 18:42.060 that when we are alone 18:42.060 --> 18:44.740 we're going to understand what we are 18:44.740 --> 18:46.800 to the Lord and what we have done. 18:47.440 --> 18:49.620 So it wants to distract us from that. 18:50.140 --> 18:51.660 So not only is he alone 18:51.660 --> 18:53.420 he is in the dark of night 18:53.420 --> 18:56.180 physically and I think also spiritually 18:56.860 --> 18:58.380 mentally too and emotionally. 18:59.180 --> 19:00.160 He is in the dark of night. 19:00.160 --> 19:01.580 It's night, everyone's there. 19:01.900 --> 19:03.540 He's in this wilderness all alone. 19:03.880 --> 19:06.000 He's also all alone in his thoughts. 19:06.420 --> 19:08.560 He has all of this pressure 19:08.560 --> 19:10.880 of my brother's going to kill me. 19:11.520 --> 19:14.120 Like all of these dark doubts 19:14.120 --> 19:16.360 and thoughts sounds very familiar, huh? 19:17.580 --> 19:19.400 And he's in a dark place. 19:20.300 --> 19:22.340 And also while he wrestles 19:22.340 --> 19:24.120 it's a long period of time. 19:24.520 --> 19:26.520 Has anyone tried staying up all night? 19:27.200 --> 19:27.960 It's long. 19:29.240 --> 19:31.380 Especially if you don't have any entertainment 19:31.380 --> 19:33.080 it is long, right? 19:33.600 --> 19:35.380 And you see your spouse or your children 19:35.380 --> 19:36.840 or someone next to you sleeping 19:36.840 --> 19:39.220 or someone in the other room sleeping. 19:39.480 --> 19:40.240 It's long. 19:41.280 --> 19:44.340 And so as we are going into the wrestling 19:44.340 --> 19:45.560 we're going to go into the word now. 19:46.780 --> 19:48.680 It says then Jacob was left alone 19:48.680 --> 19:51.180 and a man wrestled with him 19:51.180 --> 19:52.500 until the breaking of day. 19:53.040 --> 19:54.920 It's interesting about this wrestling 19:54.920 --> 19:57.260 because their scholars have multiple different theories. 19:57.260 --> 20:00.740 Some say that it was a spiritual battle. 20:01.340 --> 20:02.800 Like it wasn't physical or spiritual. 20:03.360 --> 20:04.840 Some say it was actually a dream 20:04.840 --> 20:05.860 that happened to him. 20:06.180 --> 20:08.560 Some say that he was actually praying earnestly. 20:08.840 --> 20:10.400 Like it wasn't a physical battle 20:10.400 --> 20:11.820 he was just praying earnestly. 20:12.320 --> 20:14.440 But the consensus to most of it 20:14.440 --> 20:16.740 because it's so simply laid out 20:16.740 --> 20:19.160 it's not very detailed, it's simply laid out. 20:19.460 --> 20:20.820 A lot of people tend to go that 20:20.820 --> 20:22.860 it was a physical actual wrestle 20:22.860 --> 20:24.360 because of his hip. 20:24.360 --> 20:27.640 His hip, the socket was out of joint. 20:28.120 --> 20:30.040 And so that's why they believe it was physical. 20:30.700 --> 20:32.920 So the other interesting thing 20:32.920 --> 20:36.300 it wasn't Jacob started wrestling with a man. 20:36.820 --> 20:39.900 It said that the man started wrestling with Jacob. 20:40.480 --> 20:42.100 And so when it talks to the man 20:42.100 --> 20:45.980 it says that scholars believe that this man 20:45.980 --> 20:48.260 some scholars believe it was a messenger 20:48.260 --> 20:51.060 like an angel of God coming on behalf of the Lord. 20:51.060 --> 20:54.180 Most scholars believe that it was actually 20:54.180 --> 20:57.580 the pre-incarnate Jesus in his state 20:57.580 --> 20:59.500 in his pre-incarnate state 20:59.500 --> 21:00.800 that he came down. 21:01.400 --> 21:04.080 And so Jesus 21:04.080 --> 21:05.960 that's what we're gonna go with 21:05.960 --> 21:09.580 Jesus came and he started this wrestle 21:09.580 --> 21:10.880 with Jacob 21:10.880 --> 21:13.180 which I found really intriguing 21:13.180 --> 21:15.820 and we'll understand that a little bit later on. 21:16.660 --> 21:19.480 And so as it goes on 21:19.480 --> 21:22.800 he wrestled with him until the breaking of day 21:22.800 --> 21:23.880 so that's all night. 21:24.400 --> 21:26.640 Now when he saw that he did not prevail 21:26.640 --> 21:29.000 now this is Jesus I'm gonna substitute 21:29.000 --> 21:31.100 the name for he for Jesus. 21:31.440 --> 21:33.560 Now when Jesus saw that Jesus 21:33.560 --> 21:35.660 did not prevail against him 21:36.280 --> 21:37.500 now I'm gonna stop there 21:37.500 --> 21:40.180 and a lot of scholars were also like 21:40.780 --> 21:43.920 that's weird how can a human prevail over God 21:44.480 --> 21:46.860 but when we kind of break down that word 21:47.540 --> 21:48.740 prevail means 21:48.740 --> 21:50.880 in a way not winning 21:50.880 --> 21:52.960 it's more of not 21:52.960 --> 21:55.860 it's more of persevering 21:56.700 --> 21:57.700 and not letting go 21:57.700 --> 22:01.280 so he was prevailing as in he was not giving up 22:01.280 --> 22:02.940 he was wrestling this man 22:02.940 --> 22:04.580 and he was gonna win 22:04.580 --> 22:06.160 like that was his intention 22:07.720 --> 22:08.700 and so 22:09.820 --> 22:12.300 it says he did not prevail against him 22:12.300 --> 22:15.340 so Jesus touched the socket of his hip 22:21.980 --> 22:34.040 So this shows me one thing too. Jesus was in control of this wrestle because he wasn't beating that socket out of joint. He simply touched it. 22:34.880 --> 22:45.320 So even though they are wrestling it, Jesus is in it with Jacob. He is going the same as Jacob is going this measure. Jesus is matching his measure with this. 22:45.320 --> 22:53.740 Jacob is sweating. Jesus is sweating. He is in it with him. He is wrestling with Jacob. He is feeling the same things that Jacob is feeling with. 22:54.400 --> 22:58.820 But he just has to touch his hip in order to get it out of joint. He doesn't have to beat him to it. 22:59.040 --> 23:06.900 So for me, this already shows that this wrestle was on Jesus' side. He had this in his control. 23:10.600 --> 23:22.260 So Jesus, so after all of this, now the conversation happens, right? So now they were physical with each other, the wrestling each other. Now a conversation happens. 23:22.860 --> 23:29.920 And he said, let me go. Jesus, this is Jesus. He says, let me go for the day breaks. 23:31.160 --> 23:41.460 And I think Jesus said this, not for saying, hey, this is the obvious. The day is coming. Let's end this wrestle. 23:42.020 --> 23:52.620 I think he is saying it to pull something out of Jacob, to have Jacob understand the situation, to have Jacob have a realization of what's happening. 23:53.640 --> 24:06.100 And with having the day break, he wanted to show Jacob that this wrestle was for a purpose and to show his ambition of his heart. 24:07.400 --> 24:15.660 So then Jacob says, no, bless me. I'm saying this in my own words. But that's pretty much he says, I will not let you go unless you bless me. 24:16.960 --> 24:26.640 And as reading it just normally, I'm like, yeah, that's right. This guy started a fight with me and now he's telling me to let him go. 24:27.160 --> 24:33.900 No, bless me. Let's break this off even. You tell me you did wrong and then we'll break this off. That's the way that I see it. 24:34.540 --> 24:43.040 But I also see it's a side of pride on Jacob. He said, no, you got to bless me. You are the one that started this. You are the one that has to bless me now. 24:43.040 --> 24:52.880 I didn't start this wrestling with you. You started it with me. And so Jesus said to him, and it's interesting. He says, what is your name? 24:54.200 --> 25:06.840 And I find that so interesting because... I missed something. We'll go back there. I find that interesting because Jacob means, like I said, he'll follow her. 25:06.840 --> 25:20.220 And it means that he's a sub-planter, right? And that means that he does anything he can cutting, sorry, strategizing in order to get his way, in order to force his way into another. 25:20.760 --> 25:32.340 So he's trying to force his way into this promise of God. And so Jesus is saying to Jacob to reveal to himself who Jacob is. 25:32.340 --> 25:41.540 So now he's saying, what's your name? And now Jacob is standing in a place where he has to realize who he is. I am a deceiver. 25:42.800 --> 26:00.560 And he tells him that. He says, I am Jacob. And so Jacob is now faced with who he is. His identity that he created by the choices of his flesh to manifest the word of God that was spoken over him. 26:02.380 --> 26:16.840 And it reminds me of the woman at the well where Jesus tells her, hey, go tell your husband, bring me your husband. It's like, smacks them with the truth. And it's like, yeah, that's who I am, right? 26:18.240 --> 26:26.660 So Jacob responds with his name. Now it's a little interesting, a little bit before that, and talk about this where I feel like this connects a lot of this together. 26:26.660 --> 26:36.200 I was looking up when it says, I will not let you go until you bless me. And I looked up, bless, what it means. Now there's different from the Hebrew and the Greek. 26:36.560 --> 26:53.680 But in the Hebrew, the word they actually use is power. And it says, power means to kneel by executing or implementing, to bless God by adoring him, and to bless man by benefiting the man. 26:53.680 --> 27:06.220 So that's what that meant. And I just find it so interesting because when you kneel before someone, you're not saying, oh, I have dominance over you. What are you doing? 27:07.720 --> 27:21.000 You're being lowly. You're submitting under them. You're allowing yourself to go low, and they have full authority to even hurt you because you're not protecting yourself. 27:21.900 --> 27:32.640 So I just find that so interesting that the word bless in my own interpretation of that is to kneel, in other words, to be lowly. 27:34.320 --> 27:52.190 So as we continue going on, so this blessing, he says, your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel, for you have struggled with God and with men and have prevailed. 27:52.190 --> 28:06.690 So no longer is he Jacob now, the heel follower, the one that follows people. He's no longer Jacob the deceiver that's influenced by his flesh. He is now Israel. 28:08.250 --> 28:20.430 So he no longer has this old nature about him. He no longer has the trauma of family. He no longer has the trauma of sin in his life. 28:20.430 --> 28:26.970 Or the sins that follow and plague every decision that he has made. He now has a new identity, Israel. 28:29.210 --> 28:44.890 He has a new character, a new creation to step into and walk out. Why? Because you persevered. He says, you struggled. You struggled and prevailed. You struggled with God and you struggled with people and you prevailed. 28:45.730 --> 28:56.150 Now, maybe the road that he took was the right of deceiving people. He just made it harder on himself, but he wanted to fulfill the word of God. 28:57.730 --> 29:08.310 And so now, Jacob realizes that this answer is not just any person answer. Nobody can change my name except the Lord. 29:08.910 --> 29:17.490 And so he realizes that, and he's like, that's why he asks this man, Jesus, his name. He says, what's your name? 29:18.030 --> 29:25.430 And Jesus replies. He says, why is it that you ask about my name? It doesn't matter. You already know who I am. 29:26.750 --> 29:35.890 So he crossed over. Oh, sorry. So now we see the importance of this encounter for Jacob because he has revelations on it. 29:35.890 --> 29:43.230 He sees God's face to face and his life is preserved. And Jesus, that was in his heart and he let him live. 29:43.750 --> 29:47.950 And that's what it says in Hosea 12, 3-4. Not gonna go in there. 29:48.530 --> 29:55.290 So anyway, so he crossed over. He was in a new creation, a new identity. It says, the sun rose up. 29:55.430 --> 30:00.050 It says, just as he crossed over, the sun rose on him and he limped with his hip. 30:00.050 --> 30:06.030 So he crossed over as a new creation, a new identity. And the sun rose on him. 30:06.190 --> 30:10.850 It was a new day, a new journey, a new light dawned, a new revelation of Jesus. 30:11.710 --> 30:20.830 And he limped on his hip. It's a reminder of his encounter with the Lord to cling to Jesus now instead of himself. 30:21.210 --> 30:25.990 A sign of submission, humbleness, loneliness, broken, emptied of himself. 30:25.990 --> 30:29.370 And it started the process of loneliness in him. 30:30.870 --> 30:35.790 Jesus was creating a dead company in him so that he fully realized on him. 30:37.250 --> 30:39.910 Now, a little bit later, his nature does pop up again. 30:40.070 --> 30:45.230 Because when his sons go back to Egypt to get more food, he says, 30:45.510 --> 30:51.050 Oh, don't, you know, why did you tell them you should have lied about me having Benjamin, my youngest son? 30:51.630 --> 30:57.270 But then you can see by his response later on, he realizes probably because of his limp that he says, 30:57.290 --> 31:04.470 Hey, get all these gifts, pay back everything that we have to pay him for the other food and now for this food. 31:04.630 --> 31:09.630 Give him more gifts and then let God deal with the rest. He's learned his lesson. 31:10.070 --> 31:15.150 So I'm not saying everything's going to be perfect after we reach this loneliness, this humbleness. 31:16.070 --> 31:19.790 But so we are understanding sometimes our flesh wants to come back up. 31:19.790 --> 31:24.390 But we're like, Nope, I feel the slimp. I'm not going back down that road again. Right? 31:25.910 --> 31:30.130 So the life changing encounter after Jacob meets Esau is different. 31:30.250 --> 31:32.670 And you see it in his response when he meets Esau. 31:32.970 --> 31:37.210 Because no, it's no longer deception, trickery, strategy. 31:37.670 --> 31:40.830 It's just simply coming before his brother and reconcile. 31:41.670 --> 31:43.330 Apologizing, asking for forgiveness. 31:43.330 --> 31:47.770 And of course, we know the answer to that. Everything goes goes well. 31:48.490 --> 31:49.530 Esau forgives him. 31:51.130 --> 31:56.850 So all that ties into the reason why I wanted all of that said and all of that history being out. 31:56.930 --> 32:02.010 Because I want us, we all can pertain to Jacob. I know I can. I can't speak for you. I know I can. 32:02.090 --> 32:05.370 There's many choices in my life that are parallel to Jacob's. 32:06.790 --> 32:10.670 But my thing is I want God, I want you to come and wrestle me in one. 32:11.430 --> 32:13.590 I want you to give me that limp. 32:14.870 --> 32:17.290 And that doesn't mean a physical limp, you know. 32:18.070 --> 32:22.750 Whatever limp he wants to give me, whatever marking he does in my life, 32:23.370 --> 32:27.230 whether it's a physical, an emotional, a mentally spiritual. 32:27.850 --> 32:35.050 I'm asking the Lord for that because I understand the power and the gravity of who he is 32:35.050 --> 32:37.070 and what he wants to fulfill. 32:38.630 --> 32:44.630 There's a destiny on each one of us that we need to fulfill, but we can't get there on our own. 32:45.230 --> 32:47.090 We can't get there on our own at all. 32:47.430 --> 32:52.910 We have to be so emptied of ourselves and so filled with Jesus to even walk out his will. 32:53.610 --> 32:57.110 It's his promise. It's his vision. It's not ours. 32:58.150 --> 33:03.950 And if we do it on our own accord, we're going to be just like Jacob, just messy with our journey. 33:04.850 --> 33:12.310 And see, this is the thing. The Lord will accomplish his will, whether it is with un... 33:12.310 --> 33:14.790 What's the word? Sorry, I want to get this right. 33:20.050 --> 33:21.130 Oh yeah, there we go. 33:21.610 --> 33:28.610 The Lord wants to accomplish his will, whether the tools were cooperative or uncooperative. 33:28.970 --> 33:30.230 It still will be fulfilled. 33:31.710 --> 33:34.750 And I'm praying, Lord, make me a cooperative tool 33:35.450 --> 33:39.010 so that I don't make things harder and messier for you. 33:39.130 --> 33:40.610 I don't want to shame your name. 33:41.450 --> 33:47.310 And I want to make this easier for you so that I don't hurt your heart with my decisions. 33:48.450 --> 33:51.430 Because either way, this will be done. 33:52.330 --> 33:56.910 And I'm just asking for being a cooperative tool instead of an uncooperative tool. 33:58.050 --> 34:00.510 So I'm asking God to wrestle with us. 34:00.830 --> 34:04.550 I want him to come and pick a fight with us of things in our lives. 34:04.550 --> 34:10.390 I want him to pick a fight with our flesh, to fall into true submission, to be bridled. 34:11.510 --> 34:15.170 And we all know what bridled means when you bridle a horse. 34:15.830 --> 34:20.890 And this has no correlation to a bride, but it sounds very similar to a bride. 34:21.830 --> 34:24.730 But as a bride, when she gets married, her identity is gone. 34:25.590 --> 34:31.230 When I got married to Igor, my identity, Tanya Kravitz, who is my father's name, it's gone. 34:31.330 --> 34:33.270 It's erased. I'm no longer that person. 34:33.270 --> 34:35.810 You cannot find me anywhere with that name. 34:35.970 --> 34:41.810 I am now Tanya Kendritchuk. I take the identity of my husband, and now on my face of my husband. 34:42.490 --> 34:44.310 And that's the same thing with bridled. 34:44.530 --> 34:47.050 Bridal is being led, going left and right. 34:47.310 --> 34:51.390 The person who is behind me is controlling me where I'm going and I'm following their whim. 34:51.530 --> 34:55.150 I trust them. I'm not just going to run around and do my own thing. 34:55.190 --> 34:57.010 I trust them enough that they've bridled me. 34:59.390 --> 35:06.870 I'm asking the Lord that He wrestles with us the promises that were given to us by Him, 35:07.430 --> 35:11.570 but that they are not ours to fulfill, but His, because it's from Him. 35:12.690 --> 35:16.770 I'm asking God to wrestle with us and win over past traumas, 35:16.850 --> 35:20.210 that they don't influence our decisions or our direction. 35:20.210 --> 35:29.370 I'm asking God to wrestle with us and win over history of who we once were and what once defined us, 35:29.550 --> 35:31.050 even if it was yesterday. 35:32.110 --> 35:37.290 I'm asking God to wrestle with us and win over situations, obstacles, circumstances, 35:37.830 --> 35:43.650 whether they were spiritual, relational, or physical, that can only be done by or with Him, 35:44.450 --> 35:49.130 by and with Him, not by our own desires or our own outcomes. 35:50.510 --> 35:54.530 Sometimes we're placed in a situation and we think it's demonic. 35:54.910 --> 36:00.130 Oh well, this person is going against me and they're making this all things and maybe it could be right. 36:00.250 --> 36:05.130 Maybe this person is making not wise decisions, but there's a reason why you're placed there. 36:05.970 --> 36:09.590 Sometimes you need to learn the lesson. It's not about that other person. 36:09.710 --> 36:12.350 Sometimes it's about you. You need to learn that lesson. 36:12.490 --> 36:17.170 You need to learn how to go low, how to love them even though they're going against you, 36:17.170 --> 36:19.990 how to love them even though they're hurting your children. 36:20.930 --> 36:22.550 That's a hard thing to do. 36:23.990 --> 36:25.370 Talk about martyrdom. 36:27.230 --> 36:30.790 And at least with physical martyrdom, we're up with Jesus instantly. 36:32.550 --> 36:39.130 But a mental and emotional martyrdom, that's living and death every day. 36:39.190 --> 36:42.010 That's painful. Our flesh does not want to do that. 36:42.510 --> 36:43.690 But that's lowliness. 36:46.150 --> 36:48.570 I'm asking God to wrestle with us. 36:48.870 --> 36:54.290 To mark, wrestle with us and when to leave a mark in our lives to remind us of that wrestle. 36:54.770 --> 36:59.450 To remind us of our submission when our old nature wants to creep in. 37:00.290 --> 37:02.270 And second Corinthians, it says this, 37:02.730 --> 37:09.630 So I am well pleased with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses in my life, with persecutions, 37:09.630 --> 37:15.790 and with difficulties for the sake of Christ for when I am weak and human strength, 37:16.310 --> 37:21.910 then I am strong, truly able, truly powerful, truly drawing from God's strength. 37:23.250 --> 37:26.550 That's what I want that hip socket to be out of place. 37:29.130 --> 37:32.370 So let's go into prayer. We only have about eight minutes. 37:33.030 --> 37:34.610 Maybe you go a little bit longer. 37:35.450 --> 37:36.710 Let's get into prayer. 37:36.710 --> 37:39.810 Asking God to come and wrestle with us. Pick a fight with us. 37:39.930 --> 37:41.990 Over things in our lives that we don't want to give up. 37:42.530 --> 37:45.830 Over things in our lives, I know the Spirit is probably ministering to you, 37:45.930 --> 37:49.110 bringing up certain situations that you don't want to deal with, 37:49.190 --> 37:51.690 that you rather just place in a box underneath the rug. 37:52.070 --> 37:53.810 And he says, no, come up and come out. 37:54.410 --> 37:56.930 He says, come up and come out. I need to deal with that. 37:57.290 --> 38:00.510 If you want to follow this destiny that I have placed you in, 38:00.830 --> 38:02.410 you have to be emptied of yourself. 38:02.830 --> 38:05.390 All these little dust bunnies underneath your rug, 38:05.390 --> 38:07.290 he's like, we need to sweep them out. 38:08.610 --> 38:11.430 So let's ask the Lord to come and wrestle with us.
