WEBVTT 00:00.000 --> 00:04.620 We have been in a series, for those that are not aware, we have been in a series now for a few weeks. 00:05.180 --> 00:07.340 And that series is Lowliness of Mind. 00:07.940 --> 00:10.280 And we are coming across part five today. 00:11.340 --> 00:17.560 Last Sunday, Pastor took a little bit of a detour to address some of the things that was happening in our nation. 00:18.140 --> 00:26.320 But even that, what was being addressed last week, is very applicable to lowliness of mind. 00:27.020 --> 00:29.220 To be a martyr for the Lord is a very lowly thing. 00:29.220 --> 00:32.360 It's a very unpopular thing, if you really think about it. 00:32.840 --> 00:39.620 So I want to give just a really quick overview from part four, which was not last Sunday, but the Sunday before. 00:40.600 --> 00:46.140 And the emphasis that was made that Sunday was out of Matthew 20. 00:46.240 --> 00:49.020 I'm not going to read it, but I'll just quickly paraphrase that story. 00:49.160 --> 00:55.020 In Matthew 20, we see the mother of the Zebedee sons, which is James and John. 00:55.620 --> 01:00.500 We see the mother coming to Jesus, kneeling before Jesus, and she's basically... 01:00.500 --> 01:07.900 What I talked about that Sunday, she literally signed her sons up for death, is what she basically did. 01:08.500 --> 01:15.100 She came up and she said, would you allow one of my sons to sit at your right, the other of my sons to sit on your left side? 01:15.160 --> 01:18.280 And she's basically signing them up to be martyrs for death. 01:18.420 --> 01:21.780 She's basically signing their death certificate, is literally what she did. 01:21.780 --> 01:33.240 And the emphasis in that was that, where I was coming out of in part four, is that a lowly life, or a life that is of a lowly mind, 01:34.800 --> 01:39.240 naturally produces a friendship with the Lord. Do you guys remember that? 01:40.520 --> 01:50.260 When we live in a lowliness of mind and when we live lowly, friends, it naturally produces us to walk in a friendship with the Lord. 01:51.300 --> 02:02.080 And I said this that Sunday, I said there is a small percentage, listen to me, listen, a small percentage of people that are actually friends of Jesus. 02:03.760 --> 02:12.480 And I'm talking about within the body of Christ. I'm talking about take all the churches, put them together, the body, the bride of Christ, 02:12.480 --> 02:21.060 the whole world that is born again, spirit filled, believers in Jesus, amongst that group of people. 02:21.700 --> 02:26.460 There is a fraction of them that are actually friends of Jesus. 02:27.700 --> 02:30.940 And you would say, well, how can you make a statement like that? How do you know that? 02:31.620 --> 02:41.380 First of all, I've been around enough, though I'm young, but I've had the privilege and the honor to be around enough pastors and leaders in the body of Christ. 02:41.380 --> 02:50.480 And I've learned that when you're around people that are even famous, that literally even have a celebrity title to them in the church world. 02:50.580 --> 02:59.260 I've been around many of those people. And I've learned by being around these people and reading the scriptures, obviously first and foremost, 02:59.260 --> 03:11.280 I've learned that people that are friends of Jesus, there is a certain characteristic and principles that they live in and live by that naturally manifests. 03:12.780 --> 03:22.820 And more than that, more than that, I've sat in under services of people that were friends of Jesus and people that were friends of Jesus. 03:24.100 --> 03:32.480 And I've learned something that when you are a friend of the Lord and you come up to a pulpit to speak, the Lord shows up. 03:35.610 --> 03:44.390 The Lord shows up if you're his friend. You know, we can run all day, all night and say, I'm a friend of Jesus. I'm a friend of Jesus. 03:44.670 --> 03:49.610 But does he call you a friend? But does the Lord call you a friend? 03:50.550 --> 03:59.570 Does the Lord show up and manifest himself in your workplaces? Does the Lord show up and manifest when you're ministering? 03:59.850 --> 04:04.870 Does the Lord show up and manifest himself in your own home with your children? 04:07.430 --> 04:10.850 I mean, we're always going for the public stuff. You know, well, does he show up? 04:10.930 --> 04:15.330 But what about does the Lord show up at your house when you're disciplining your kids? 04:16.450 --> 04:22.430 Does the Lord show up in your house when you're interacting with your wife or when you're interacting with your husband? 04:24.030 --> 04:33.030 We're quick to jump to the public, but to be a friend of the Lord doesn't just mean that he shows up when I'm preaching or when somebody else is preaching. 04:33.950 --> 04:41.620 Does he actually show up when you're at home? Does the Lord meet you there? 04:43.900 --> 04:51.220 So there is a fraction of people that I believe are actually friends of the Lord, a fraction of people. 04:52.100 --> 05:01.820 But the reason why we're on this series, there is many reasons of why we're on this series of lowliness of mind, first and foremost, because our Lord was lowly. 05:02.860 --> 05:10.020 Jesus was lowly. After I come back and we get into the series, my plan is to literally walk us for a few Sundays, 05:10.020 --> 05:22.860 to walk us through the life of Jesus to show you how much lowliness of mind was literally abiding in the Lord and everything that the Lord did was of a lowly mind. 05:25.040 --> 05:34.360 So we're in these series because our Lord was lowly. We're also in these series because I believe, and if time is not against me today, towards the end of my notes, 05:34.880 --> 05:42.540 I'll touch in a little more, but I believe that lowliness of mind is the blueprint for the end time revival. I believe that. 05:43.240 --> 05:50.340 I am convinced that it is a blueprint of how the great outpouring of the Holy Spirit is to come. 05:51.120 --> 06:00.740 On people that are desperate, on people that are dependent on the Lord, on people that are hungry and nothing satisfies them but the Lord. 06:00.740 --> 06:09.040 This is all lowliness of mind. And we have a whole nother culture and thing preached off pulpits and churches these days. 06:10.640 --> 06:17.300 We do. I'm telling you, we do. You don't believe me? Go visit some churches. Go visit some churches. 06:18.120 --> 06:22.980 There is very few people that will hit something like this because it's unpopular. 06:24.880 --> 06:32.220 People are excited to come to church to be encouraged and to be padded on the back and say you're doing great and those are good aspects of a church. 06:32.520 --> 06:41.340 But if we're not being told the truth of things and we leave here unchanged or any church, if we go and we leave unchanged, we don't feel provoked. 06:41.600 --> 06:51.080 We don't feel challenged. You know how me and my wife always measure churches? We traveled for many, many years and we would measure churches this way. 06:51.080 --> 06:57.640 I would go to a church or I should say we would go to a church. We would sit in the service. We would listen to the sermon. 06:57.820 --> 07:07.640 And at the end of the sermon when church was done, everybody's leaving. If that word or if that two hours or hour and a half, well now it's 60 minutes. 07:07.780 --> 07:19.280 So you got to keep it under 60 minutes now. If that 60 minutes did not provoke me to go after the Lord more in private, then I think the preacher missed it. 07:22.480 --> 07:32.800 That's how I measure myself when I preach. If I'm preaching and it's not causing you to go after the Lord more in private, then I'm missing it. 07:35.100 --> 07:42.160 I consider all day long and tell you how beautiful you are and you guys are. You guys are very pretty by the way. I don't know if anybody's told you that. 07:43.300 --> 07:47.580 Very pretty. Very. Yeah, I'm telling you. Your mom and dad did great. 07:52.770 --> 07:58.330 But I also want to make sure that when I'm preaching as your pastor, I want to make sure that I'm preaching and you're going after the Lord more. 08:00.230 --> 08:09.890 So a lowly life coming out of Matthew 20, a lowly life naturally produces a friendship with the Lord. 08:11.430 --> 08:26.890 How exciting is that? How exciting is it that not only we are calling the Lord Jesus, you're my friend, but he makes it known just like he made it known about John the Baptist. 08:28.850 --> 08:37.050 Jesus said that John the Baptist is the greatest prophet born of women and then he says an even more. 08:37.050 --> 08:43.050 Do you know what the Lord is regarding to there? He's saying that that right there is a primary example of what it means to be my friend. 08:45.050 --> 08:56.190 You still with me? Open up your Bibles to Luke chapter one verse 48. Yeah, Luke chapter one and I'll tell you what verse here in just a little bit. 09:00.530 --> 09:08.370 We'll start at verse 46. I'm going to pray before we get in. Father, we thank you. 09:09.610 --> 09:18.650 We thank you for your word. We thank you for your spirit that brings the word alive, Lord, as we read it, as we look at it, as we preach it. 09:19.550 --> 09:33.130 Holy Spirit, I'm asking you this morning that you would unveil our eyes, that you would cause the scales that are on our eyes to fall off, that we would see Jesus once again through the Scriptures. 09:33.830 --> 09:40.550 That we would see our risen Lord and Savior, that we would see the importance of this, my God. 09:41.370 --> 09:55.090 Holy Spirit, convince us. Convince us just how important this is. Cause our hearts to see, Lord. Cause our hearts to see. Move on our hearts this morning, Holy Spirit. I'm asking you. 09:56.570 --> 10:07.490 Move on our hearts. Sear our hearts with your word this morning as it is preached. Cause us to leave this place changed and never the same. 10:07.490 --> 10:10.830 Looking at Jesus like we've never looked at him before. 10:13.990 --> 10:18.970 Holy Spirit, I'm praying that you would simply bless the people this morning. 10:20.630 --> 10:31.430 Bless them, Lord. Bless them, Lord, with your presence. Bless them, Lord, with your presence. 10:33.710 --> 10:43.790 Let your presence move on their heart, Lord. Let the presence of the living God just move on their hearts, Lord, on the good ground. 10:45.150 --> 10:52.930 On the seeds that have been sown, Lord. Let the water of the Spirit of God water those seeds today. And may you grow them, Lord. May you grow them. 10:56.560 --> 10:59.880 I'm asking you in Jesus' name. Amen. 11:01.640 --> 11:08.400 How many of you have your physical Bibles this morning? Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. 11:09.040 --> 11:19.460 Luke chapter one verse 46. This is a song of Mary and there's things here. This is Mary the mother of Jesus. 11:19.880 --> 11:25.300 And there's things here that Mary, you could say, sings. It's a song is what the scriptures say. 11:25.940 --> 11:31.040 But there's things here that she says that talk about the Lord that I want to emphasize and point out. 11:31.540 --> 11:36.640 And then I want to talk a little bit about Mary's life. But let me start at verse 46. 11:36.640 --> 11:46.990 It says in Mary said, My soul magnifies the Lord and my spirit has rejoiced in God my savior. 11:48.200 --> 12:00.060 For he, this is the Lord, has regarded the lowly state of his maid servant. Catch that. This is verse 48. You guys got to catch that. 12:00.060 --> 12:13.520 For he has regarded the lowly state of his maid servant. For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed. 12:14.600 --> 12:27.520 For he who is mighty has done great things for me. And holy is his name. And his mercy is on those who fear him from generation to generation. 12:27.520 --> 12:36.500 He has shown strength with his arm. He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. 12:37.220 --> 12:43.940 He has put down the mighty from their thrones and exalted the lowly. 12:45.880 --> 12:58.920 If you look at the life of Mary and you begin to study her life or even just read her life in the scriptures, you will find that Mary was a very, very lowly girl. 12:59.060 --> 13:13.580 And I'm saying at that time, girl, she remained lowly her whole life. But specifically in the time, because what's happening here, the song that Mary is singing is after the visitation that she had of the angel. 13:13.940 --> 13:24.580 The angel of the Lord comes to her and he basically says, you're going to conceive the son of God, the savior of the world, Emmanuel, God with us. 13:24.800 --> 13:35.600 He's basically saying, hey, the prophecies and the scriptures spoken about a savior coming to save Israel, you get to be the woman that gets to hold them in your womb. 13:37.820 --> 13:39.680 Talk about being a friend of the Lord. 13:41.580 --> 13:43.720 I mean, seriously, think about it. 13:44.420 --> 13:51.640 Talk about being a friend of the Lord when the angel of God comes to you and says, blessed are you woman? 13:52.800 --> 13:57.140 And I think scholars say she was like 14, 15, she was young, man. 13:57.880 --> 13:59.080 She was young. 14:00.840 --> 14:04.820 She was betrothed onto Joseph, but they weren't married yet. They were in the process. 14:06.100 --> 14:14.040 And an angel of the Lord comes and says, blessed are you woman, you're going to carry the son of God, the savior of the world. 14:14.360 --> 14:24.440 The prophecies that have been spoken of old for hundreds and hundreds of years now that prophecy gets to come in you, in your belly, and you get to carry him for nine months. 14:26.560 --> 14:27.780 Now here's the question. 14:30.040 --> 14:33.040 Why did the Lord choose Mary out of everybody else? 14:36.400 --> 14:44.200 According to what Mary says, she says you have regarded the lowly state of your maid servant. 14:46.520 --> 14:59.260 In other words, if we can live in a lowly mine, not only will it produce a friendship with the Lord, but the scriptures say that God regards the lowly in mine. 15:01.980 --> 15:08.300 There is something there that actually attracts the Lord when somebody is living in lowliness of mind. 15:09.920 --> 15:16.600 We're talking about the Genesis 1 God here. Remember, we're talking about the God that created the heavens and the earth. 15:16.840 --> 15:20.840 We're talking about the God that spoke and breathed life into us. 15:20.840 --> 15:31.300 This God that sits enthroned in heaven forever, this God regards and is actually attracted to those who are lowly. 15:33.680 --> 15:36.300 Talk about having an honor from the Lord. 15:38.320 --> 15:40.700 Mary lived such a lowly life. 15:41.840 --> 15:46.860 Yes, she was low in society, all these things, but it's the internal being of Mary. 15:46.860 --> 15:49.420 Remember part one of lowliness of mind. 15:49.980 --> 15:56.020 Lowliness of mind has to do more with the internal state of a person than the external. 15:57.020 --> 15:59.940 You can be riding a Bentley, yet still be lowly. 16:00.740 --> 16:03.640 You can have a mansion, yet still be lowly. 16:04.520 --> 16:10.240 Lowliness of mind has very little to do with the external, but everything to do with the internal. 16:11.240 --> 16:16.480 So here Mary lives such a lowly life that God would choose this. 16:16.760 --> 16:18.240 Let's say she was 14 years old. 16:18.420 --> 16:28.180 God would choose a 14 year old girl and say, you are going to carry for nine months, you're going to carry the son of God Emmanuel within you. 16:28.740 --> 16:32.720 And all generations, all generations will call you blessed. 16:33.760 --> 16:39.240 And then later we read and we find out that he exalts those who are lowly. 16:40.240 --> 16:42.340 He's all coming out of Philippians 2 as well. 16:42.480 --> 16:43.720 Philippians 2 talks about it. 16:44.400 --> 16:49.180 If we humble ourselves in due time, God will exalt us. 16:49.320 --> 16:56.160 Look guys, it's been over 2,000 years now and we're still talking about Mary and how blessed she was. 16:57.020 --> 17:01.460 To the measure that we have a denomination that prays to her. 17:03.020 --> 17:05.820 Do you see what lowliness of mind produces? 17:05.820 --> 17:15.140 Do you see what a lowly state of a person actually produces in the effect that it plays, not just on one individual, 17:15.560 --> 17:19.980 but the effect that it plays on a generation and even more generations? 17:21.060 --> 17:21.580 Yes. 17:22.980 --> 17:25.260 We got a whole denomination praying to Mary. 17:26.620 --> 17:28.320 Oh Mother Mary, da da da da da da. 17:29.380 --> 17:29.900 Why? 17:29.900 --> 17:37.340 Because a woman was found lowly and was entrusted to carry the Son of God. 17:38.520 --> 17:40.240 Can I tell you something today? 17:40.980 --> 17:44.040 You have the opportunity to be regarded by the Lord. 17:44.460 --> 17:52.420 Yes, you won't be carrying Jesus in your womb, but you can be carrying the Spirit of God and a Word of God within you that then would produce a thing. 17:54.820 --> 17:57.580 Because does not the Scripture say that he is the Word? 17:58.820 --> 18:02.140 So you could carry the Word of God within you. 18:02.660 --> 18:14.060 If you are lowly, if you could live in a lowly state and live in a lowly mind, God could entrust you and more than that he would be captivated and he would be attracted to you. 18:16.880 --> 18:20.800 Has anybody ever heard of the saying, the favor of the Lord? Has anybody ever heard that? 18:21.980 --> 18:25.180 Have you guys heard that? How many of you actually know what that means? 18:27.100 --> 18:29.820 Pastor, can you enlighten them quick because I might elaborate on what you are saying. 18:30.080 --> 18:31.560 What does it mean to have the favor of the Lord? 18:33.300 --> 18:36.360 The word favor in the New Testament is the same word as grace. 18:37.280 --> 18:41.220 And when the favor is on us, it is the same as having his grace on us. 18:41.480 --> 18:44.800 And everything we receive in salvation comes by grace. 18:45.280 --> 18:53.620 So when he does something in our life, he is putting grace on us or he is favoring us with who he is and what he wants for us. 18:54.220 --> 19:01.260 And I had one more thought. If we will acknowledge that was the favor of God that did that in me, he will do more and more. 19:03.100 --> 19:09.660 That's good. In other words, you could say this because it's really good. It's really good. 19:10.800 --> 19:16.160 You could say this when he gives you the grace, you've caught his attention. Would you say that? 19:17.940 --> 19:22.920 You see when we talk about, that was a really great description, when we talk about the favor of the Lord, 19:23.620 --> 19:30.160 oftentimes people are like, what does that mean? Does that mean that God likes Sabrina more than he likes me? 19:30.320 --> 19:35.980 No, that's not the favor of God. Does that mean that God loves somebody else more than he loves me? 19:36.060 --> 19:41.240 No, that's not the favor of God. The favor of God is when you've caught the attention of God. 19:42.980 --> 19:47.760 Can I give you a quick example to make it more practical? I have three boys. I have three boys. 19:48.260 --> 19:53.460 All are awesome. I love them all the same. People have asked me, they said, Igor, who do you love more out of all your boys? 19:53.740 --> 19:58.980 I said, what kind of question are you asking me? They're like, it's probably James, right? It's James. 19:59.180 --> 20:05.040 I'm like, no, yes, he's mostly like me, but I can't say I love him more. But let me give you this example. 20:05.460 --> 20:10.480 When three of my boys, when we're at home, and I say boys, go clean your room. 20:12.200 --> 20:15.160 I'm just giving you one example here of many. I say boys, go clean your room. 20:15.160 --> 20:17.580 And all of them say, yes, dad, we're going to go clean our room. 20:17.780 --> 20:25.660 But all of a sudden I walk away and I come back and out of all three of them, let's say Noah is the only one that's cleaning the room. 20:27.140 --> 20:34.740 Does that mean because I've paid attention to Noah more because Noah is obeying what I'm saying, does that mean that I love him more? 20:35.500 --> 20:42.600 It doesn't. It simply means that he's caught my attention because I asked him to do something 20:42.600 --> 20:47.080 and he's actually following through with it. He's caught my attention. 20:47.640 --> 20:53.220 Do I still see the other two? I most definitely do. I most definitely do. 20:53.900 --> 21:01.400 But my son that obeyed me and is following through with what I've asked him to do, he will catch my attention. 21:03.220 --> 21:08.440 He will catch my attention. See, the scriptures say that God looks to and fro. 21:08.440 --> 21:17.940 He is seeking. He is seeking. But in Isaiah 66, and we're going to read that here shortly, God says on this one, I will look. 21:18.800 --> 21:25.020 That's the favor of God. The favor of God is when you've caught the attention of God. 21:25.520 --> 21:31.440 And now God is paying attention to you a little bit more than he's paying attention to maybe your neighbor. 21:31.440 --> 21:41.020 Not because your neighbor is any less. It's simply because your neighbor is choosing, is choosing not to follow through with the things of God. 21:41.180 --> 21:46.800 That's it. And we have the opportunity to walk in a favor of the Lord. 21:47.120 --> 21:54.220 We have the opportunity to catch the attention of God, the attraction of God and walk with it every day of our life. 21:55.160 --> 21:57.820 How do we do that? We live in a lowly life. 21:59.900 --> 22:03.020 We live in a lowly life. Let's open up to Isaiah 66. 22:05.780 --> 22:07.580 I want to read this to you here real quick. 22:10.980 --> 22:16.080 Isaiah 66 verses 1 and 2. 22:24.380 --> 22:32.460 This is actually literally this scripture right here, Isaiah 66 verses 1 and 2 has been a prayer of mine for years. 22:33.560 --> 22:38.660 This has been a prayer of mine that I've prayed to the Lord for years. And I'll even show you briefly how I do it. 22:38.920 --> 22:41.280 But let's start with verse 1. 22:42.220 --> 22:49.060 He says, heaven is my throne and earth is my footstool. Where is the house that you will build me? 22:49.660 --> 22:57.940 And where is the place of my rest? For all those things my hand has made and all those things exist, says the Lord. 22:58.520 --> 23:05.300 Now towards the end there are verse 2. Catch this. He says, but on this one will I look? 23:07.440 --> 23:10.640 God is saying, on this one will I look? 23:11.400 --> 23:15.360 In other words, God sees us all. He's looking at all of us right now. 23:16.400 --> 23:25.280 But the favor of the Lord comes on this one. And let me read you some of the things of what causes God to look at somebody. 23:25.280 --> 23:35.360 And say, on this one I will look. There's three things here. And all three of these things literally describe lowliness of mind and living a life that's lowly. 23:35.580 --> 23:46.580 Listen to this. On him who is poor, end of a contrite spirit and who trembles at my word. 23:47.860 --> 23:52.520 Those are three things that catch and attract the attention of God. 23:54.100 --> 23:59.320 God says, yes, I see everybody. I see what man does. I see what women do. I see it. 23:59.600 --> 24:05.700 But on this one I will look who is poor of a contrite spirit and trembles at my word. 24:07.280 --> 24:13.120 Now let me explain real quick what it means to be poor. This is not necessarily talking about being poor in society. 24:13.320 --> 24:21.180 In your financial aspect. Of well, okay, I'm poor. You know, if I'm a millionaire, oh man, my pastor said I can't be a millionaire anymore because God's not going to look at me. 24:21.180 --> 24:30.200 That's not what he's talking about being poor. What the, what the prophet is regarding to here or what I should say, the Lord is speaking through the prophet Isaiah. 24:30.760 --> 24:39.060 What he's saying is, if you are poor in spirit, if you are poor in spirit, do you know what it means to be poor in spirit? 24:39.940 --> 24:47.120 Is to have a dependency on the Lord like no other. Let me take it even more further. Let me take it even more further. 24:47.120 --> 24:59.010 It is to be only satisfied by him. That's what it means to be poor in spirit. Lord, there is nothing that's going to satisfy me. 25:00.990 --> 25:05.830 There is nothing that's going to satisfy me, God, unless you meet with me. 25:11.100 --> 25:22.400 There is nothing that will quench my thirst, Lord. There is nothing that will fill me, Lord, the way that you fill me, Lord. I need. I need. It's not just a want. It's a need. 25:23.920 --> 25:36.080 Do you know that God supplies needs? We sometimes ask for things thinking that it's a need, but actually if you step back and you look at it, it's a want more than a need. 25:36.080 --> 25:44.920 And then we question, well, why didn't you answer me, Lord? Why didn't you give me this, Lord? Because you were not in need of it. You wanted it. 25:46.880 --> 25:57.100 God will supply a need. So someone who is poor in spirit, if they are actually poor in spirit, they say in their heart, God, there is nothing that will satisfy me. 25:58.340 --> 26:02.400 There is nothing that will satisfy this hunger, Lord, but you. 26:05.520 --> 26:17.780 Ever been so hungry and you've desired or you've had an appetite, let's say, for sushi? Ever been so hungry that you've desired to eat sushi 26:18.400 --> 26:24.460 and the week goes by and the wife says, we're not going to sushi this week and you're like, man, I'm eating, I'm eating, but I'm not satisfied. 26:25.800 --> 26:39.340 I have a hunger and a craving for sushi. Another week goes by. The wife says, we're not going. It's too far. We live in North Branch now. It's like, okay, I heard you, Lord. We're not going to sushi. 26:40.960 --> 26:45.160 A third week goes by and finally you convince your wife and you say, can we go to sushi? 26:45.160 --> 26:55.100 And when you eat that sushi, all of a sudden, not only are you fed in full, but there is this satisfaction that fills your belly. 26:57.520 --> 27:10.660 You understand what I'm saying? That's what it means to be poor in spirit. It's to be so dependent on the Lord that, Lord, unless you touch me, unless you move on my heart, I won't be satisfied. 27:12.700 --> 27:22.980 Unless your spirit comes and breathes on me and breathes on the scriptures that I would understand them, that I would behold the Lord, unless that happens, Lord, I won't be satisfied. 27:24.240 --> 27:27.980 I won't be satisfied, Lord. That's what it means to be poor in spirit. 27:29.240 --> 27:36.320 Now you want to hear the reality and the truth? A lot of us leave thinking we're satisfied when we really aren't. 27:38.360 --> 27:48.380 A lot of us think that we are poor in spirit, but in reality we are satisfied by things outside of the Lord and thinking that's good. 27:48.660 --> 27:54.940 And we've compromised, we've come to complacency, we've come to a place of comfort, and it's okay. That's fine. 27:54.940 --> 27:58.340 Next time. Next time. 27:59.920 --> 28:09.000 But what if we could be a Christian people? What if we could be a house that would remain here until the Lord actually came and moved on our hearts? 28:09.420 --> 28:19.580 What if we could be that kind of house? What if we could be a people that would remain in private with God until the Lord met us and moved on our hearts? 28:21.460 --> 28:30.000 What if we could sit in stillness and wait and say, my God, ain't nothing going to satisfy me, Lord, unless you come and you meet me? 28:33.440 --> 28:41.160 But we give ourselves excuses, and we say next time. I'm sorry friends, that's not living poor in spirit. 28:42.280 --> 28:46.020 According to what the scriptures say, that's not living poor in spirit. 28:47.680 --> 28:55.740 And if we want to capture the attraction and the attention of God, we must, we must develop a poor spirit. 28:56.740 --> 29:04.020 My prayer for years have been, cause me God. Cause me God to be poor in spirit. 29:05.980 --> 29:10.420 For years I've prayed that and I still pray it. Say God, cause me. 29:11.460 --> 29:23.870 I don't want to leave this place until you touch me. See, that's lowly. See, that's lowly. 29:25.530 --> 29:32.470 That's living a life of lowliness. Because the majority of people will leave and they won't even wait for the Lord. 29:33.050 --> 29:36.830 Where the scriptures say, wait on the Lord and he will strengthen you. 29:41.550 --> 29:44.750 The second thing that it says is to have a contrite spirit. 29:46.550 --> 29:53.950 That means to be humble. It refers to a feeling of deep remorse and sorrow for wrongdoing. 29:57.670 --> 30:05.330 Often, often, my goodness, I can't read that word, accompanied by a desire of making amends. 30:05.330 --> 30:12.350 It's a state of humility and repentance, recognizing one's fault and seeking forgiveness. 30:13.390 --> 30:19.410 Let me elaborate on a contrite spirit. I want us as a body to think deeper. 30:20.030 --> 30:26.390 I want us to have a renewed mind to think deeper, to go past the shallow and swim in some deeper waters. 30:26.770 --> 30:34.050 That's what I'm after. Listen, to have a contrite spirit is to have great remorse and sorrow. 30:34.630 --> 30:42.910 And right away we can apply that to sin. Can I tell you how majority of Christians think when it comes to sin? 30:42.990 --> 30:47.890 You ready for this? This is how majority of Christians think when they cost sin in their life. 30:48.250 --> 30:54.530 Oh man, I'm not going to make heaven. Oh snap, I just sinned. I just cost. I just did something. 30:54.810 --> 31:01.750 Oh man, I'm not going to make heaven. What if a contrite spirit could think a little bit deeper? 31:01.750 --> 31:11.250 What if having a contrite spirit means that if you do a wrong thing, the great sorrow and the great remorse is not even just about you, 31:11.390 --> 31:18.810 but it's the fact that you hurt the Lord? What if we could think of sin that way? 31:19.390 --> 31:23.110 What if we could look at sin and not worry, are we going to make heaven or not? 31:23.310 --> 31:28.570 But what if we could look at sin and say, if I do that thing, it's going to hurt my Lord and Savior? 31:31.630 --> 31:36.550 It's going to hurt him. Do you know how I battle temptation in my life? 31:37.050 --> 31:44.910 When temptation comes my way, do you know how I battle it? I look at the Lord and I say, Lord, I know if I do this, it's going to hurt you. Help me. 31:46.250 --> 31:48.290 Help me Lord, I don't want to hurt you. 31:50.490 --> 31:54.530 There is a deep remorse in us of having a contrite spirit. 31:55.210 --> 32:02.990 And it's looking at him. It's not looking at, oh, man, I just sinned and then we get into this cycle. We get into this routine of things. 32:03.250 --> 32:07.310 What if we could look at it and say, God, I don't want to do this because it's going to hurt you? 32:07.910 --> 32:10.190 And I don't want to hurt you, Lord, because I love you. 32:13.570 --> 32:15.650 What if we could look at our marriages that way? 32:17.190 --> 32:24.050 What if we could look at our marriages and the way that we respond to our spouses, we would think before we said something 32:24.530 --> 32:28.490 because knowing that if I said this thing, I know how it's going to make my wife feel. 32:31.310 --> 32:32.990 I'm talking to marriages, friends. 32:36.030 --> 32:44.850 To have a contrite spirit is to have deep remorse. Paul writes in Corinthians. He says, Godly sorrow brings about repentance. 32:45.910 --> 32:49.810 So a contrite spirit, it's okay to have sorrow. Did you know that? 32:51.650 --> 32:54.710 We always pin sorrow to a negative thing. That's demonic. 32:55.850 --> 33:04.470 Sorrow is actually a godly thing too because Apostle Paul writes, Godly sorrow brings about repentance. That's a contrite spirit. 33:05.710 --> 33:13.170 That's a contrite spirit. That's me being remorse inside. It's being sorrowful. Lord, why did I respond to that? 33:13.710 --> 33:18.430 That way. Lord, why did I say that? Lord, why did I act that way? 33:18.430 --> 33:26.050 Lord, forgive me. I don't want to hurt you. I don't want to hurt you. Repentance is not just me saying, oh, forgive me, Lord. 33:26.670 --> 33:34.170 Repentance is making a choice and changing the way that I view and do things. That is biblical repentance. 33:35.950 --> 33:40.570 People ask me questions. They say, well, how come people always are repenting and nothing's changing? 33:40.850 --> 33:44.770 I say because true repentance is when somebody actually makes a choice. 33:45.610 --> 33:52.530 You can come up to the altar and you can be prayed for hundreds of times. Ain't nothing going to change until you choose. 33:53.930 --> 33:56.750 I said, ain't nothing going to change until you choose. 33:58.830 --> 34:03.670 You can have Billy Cram. You can have Benny Hinn. You can have Ray Harbonke lay hands on you. 34:03.950 --> 34:13.910 You can have the Lord himself lay hands on you unless, unless you have a contrite spirit and you are repenting of it and choosing ain't nothing going to change, my friends. 34:14.770 --> 34:16.070 I said ain't nothing going to change. 34:18.630 --> 34:22.210 A contrite spirit. Deep remorse, Lord, I don't want to hurt you. 34:23.690 --> 34:25.490 That's how I battle temptation in my life. 34:27.010 --> 34:31.270 When I'm tempted with different things and the realness be it, we're all tempted with things. 34:31.550 --> 34:36.550 Don't you sit here and tell me, I'm not tempted, Igor. Dude, I'm perfect. Yeah, right. Stop lying to yourself. 34:37.610 --> 34:40.770 You were just tempted yesterday not to cut somebody off on the highway, huh? 34:42.650 --> 34:43.970 I'm talking to somebody. 34:47.290 --> 34:51.910 And then we do Minnesota nice. I'm going to cut you off. God bless you, brother. 34:59.670 --> 35:04.750 So when I pray this to the Lord, I say, Lord, cause me to be poor in spirit. 35:05.850 --> 35:11.390 I say, Lord, cause me to have a contrite spirit. Cause me, Holy Spirit, supernaturally. 35:12.490 --> 35:19.170 It's not just a want. I am desperately in need to walk in these. Why? 35:19.750 --> 35:26.750 Because if I can do this, that means that the Lord will pay attention. He will look on me according to the scriptures. 35:27.830 --> 35:35.870 That's what he says. He says, on this one, I'll look who is poor in spirit, contrite spirit and trembles at my word. 35:36.330 --> 35:38.470 He makes a promise and says, I'll look at that one. 35:39.730 --> 35:46.010 He'll catch my attention and I'll give him favor, not just with me, but I'll even give him favor with man. 35:48.210 --> 35:54.770 Can I tell you something? You can't have the favor of God without the favor of man. Did you know that? 35:56.090 --> 35:59.990 If you have a favor of man, but don't have a favor of God, you know what that tells me? 36:00.570 --> 36:02.070 That you're pleasing man, not God. 36:03.350 --> 36:07.190 But if you have the favor of the Lord, you have the favor of man. 36:07.590 --> 36:09.130 And we can find that through the scriptures. 36:11.650 --> 36:15.450 All of a sudden we see one person, doors are opening in their life. 36:16.290 --> 36:21.430 God is doing things in their life. And somebody else is like, well, how come that's not happening to me? 36:22.190 --> 36:24.010 They must be doing something that you're not doing. 36:25.550 --> 36:31.030 There must be something happening that God is looking at them and doors are opening in their life. 36:32.070 --> 36:33.250 You still with me? 36:34.850 --> 36:37.130 The third one is trembling at his word. 36:39.350 --> 36:48.850 Signifies a profound awe and reverence for God's teaching, leading to obedience and a humble contrite spirit. 36:49.750 --> 37:00.390 It is not merely a physical trembling, but a spiritual response characterized by humility, fear of disobeying God 37:00.390 --> 37:02.930 and a desire to be led by his word. 37:05.150 --> 37:15.230 To tremble at the word of God, though I've had moments where you read the scriptures and there's a scripture that comes out in such a way that you're physically shaking. 37:16.350 --> 37:17.630 Has anybody ever had that before? 37:18.750 --> 37:21.330 Were you reading the scriptures and you're physically shaking? 37:23.190 --> 37:31.530 To tremble at the word of God is to have such a love for the scriptures. 37:32.530 --> 37:33.510 Follow me here. 37:34.370 --> 37:42.690 To tremble at the word of God is to have such a love for the scriptures that you take it with you even when you go to the bathroom. 37:44.770 --> 37:45.850 You're laughing at me. 37:46.450 --> 37:47.590 You're laughing at me. 37:50.130 --> 37:55.850 To tremble at the word of God is to have such a love for the scriptures. 37:57.050 --> 38:03.170 And anything that you read and that you feel the Lord emphasizing, you're saying, I have to obey that. 38:03.750 --> 38:07.550 There is a fear of disobeying what a scripture says. 38:09.210 --> 38:16.690 To tremble at the word of God is to do exactly what James writes, is to be a doer of the word. 38:17.590 --> 38:19.010 Not just a hearer. 38:20.430 --> 38:22.270 Add a conversation with somebody. 38:22.610 --> 38:23.490 It's a while ago. 38:24.810 --> 38:30.690 And we were talking about some of the things that are going on in the church, not just our church, in the church as a whole. 38:32.830 --> 38:43.310 And I said, you know, for decades now, for decades now, we have great sermons preached out of pulpits, fiery sermons, the spirit of God moves, things are done. 38:43.310 --> 38:50.410 Yet there is a people that leave. They felt and they experienced the Lord, yet when they leave, they're still the same. 38:50.690 --> 38:51.510 Do you know why? 38:52.530 --> 38:57.070 Because what is preached from these pulpits are not applied to your lives. 38:58.030 --> 39:04.110 To tremble at the word of God is to apply the scriptures to your life. 39:05.190 --> 39:12.190 To tremble at the word of God is to literally embody the scriptures and live what it says. 39:12.190 --> 39:13.990 That's what it means to tremble at His word. 39:15.710 --> 39:22.130 To tremble at His word is to have such a high awe and honor towards it that you can't put it down. 39:22.850 --> 39:27.310 To tremble at His word is to open it up and cry when you read it. 39:28.030 --> 39:31.730 Friends, when is the last time that we cried when we read the scriptures? 39:33.090 --> 39:36.570 You're saying, Igor, why are you hanging on crying? Why does it have to be crying? 39:36.850 --> 39:41.550 Because when we cry, it's an emotion of love towards something. 39:43.210 --> 39:46.050 We look at reading our scriptures as a chore. 39:47.750 --> 39:51.970 We look at this as a chore. Well, Pastor said, I have to read it. 39:52.250 --> 39:54.930 That other televangelist said, I have to read my scriptures. 39:55.310 --> 40:00.570 If we could renew our minds and not look at this holy word as a chore, 40:00.910 --> 40:05.330 but look at this as a love letter of what God is speaking to us. 40:05.650 --> 40:09.250 If we could look at it that way, we would change our perspective on the scriptures. 40:09.930 --> 40:14.710 There would be a trembling and a love for the word of God once again. 40:16.250 --> 40:21.670 I've said this before, if we could read the scriptures and stop looking for ourselves. 40:22.410 --> 40:27.970 If we could look for Jesus in these scriptures, I promise you it won't be a chore for you. 40:29.790 --> 40:33.530 We read the scriptures and we're like, well, where do I fit in there? Nowhere. 40:34.230 --> 40:37.670 Stop looking for yourself. You're simply part of the storyline. 40:37.670 --> 40:41.470 It ain't about you. The gospel is not about you. 40:41.730 --> 40:50.250 You simply fall into the storyline of the gospel, of a God that has loved the world so much that he gave his one and only son. 40:50.750 --> 40:53.290 For who? For us. That's where we fall into it. 40:54.430 --> 40:59.010 If we could look at the scriptures and we could say, Lord, show me yourself. 41:00.130 --> 41:04.010 If we could look at the scriptures more than just good morals to live by. 41:04.010 --> 41:11.670 If we could look at them knowing that this is Jesus, the word that dwelt among us. 41:12.070 --> 41:16.430 He came in the flesh. He walked among us. We beheld his beauty. 41:16.750 --> 41:22.950 If we could look at the Bible that way, friends, it would change your perspective in how you read your Bibles. 41:23.650 --> 41:30.410 It would change you. It would change the way that you would approach the holy word of God. 41:30.410 --> 41:33.450 You would develop a trembling at his word. 41:36.670 --> 41:40.110 That's what it means to tremble at the word of God. 41:41.690 --> 41:43.430 I told my wife the other day. 41:44.270 --> 41:48.610 I said, I said, thank you so much for loving Jesus. 41:49.990 --> 41:54.090 I said, thank you so much for loving Jesus in the way that you do. 41:54.550 --> 42:00.850 I said, thank you so much for having such a love for the word that it sharpens me. 42:02.450 --> 42:07.090 When I look at my wife and how much she loves the word, oh man, it provokes me. 42:07.130 --> 42:10.510 I said, my God, I want to love the word the way that my wife loves the word. 42:12.150 --> 42:16.810 For over 10 years that we have been married, not once, friends, I'm not over exaggerating. 42:16.950 --> 42:20.790 Not once has my wife gone to bed before reading the Bible. 42:20.910 --> 42:22.530 It's been over 10 years that we've been married. 42:25.090 --> 42:30.030 Not once that I ever see my wife go to bed until she read the scriptures. 42:30.610 --> 42:33.650 And more than half the time, she's falling asleep reading them. 42:33.950 --> 42:37.110 I said, my God, I want that Lord. 42:38.190 --> 42:39.170 I want that Lord. 42:40.250 --> 42:42.290 See, that's what it means to tremble at his word. 42:42.490 --> 42:46.110 It's to have a love and a yearning, knowing that right here. 42:46.550 --> 42:50.330 In this is life. He says, but I need you to be with me. 47:33.020 --> 47:35.460 But I'm in the middle of something. God, I'll do it later. 47:35.980 --> 47:39.040 I'll do it in the morning. Morning rolls around, you don't even do it. 47:42.400 --> 47:45.860 We've deceived ourselves in America by our own speech. 47:47.580 --> 47:50.420 We're calling he and she and the other false prophets. 47:50.640 --> 47:56.080 Do you not realize that you can become a false prophet unto yourself with your own lips? 47:58.280 --> 48:00.180 We're calling other people wolves. 48:00.720 --> 48:03.020 Look at that. That's a wolf in a sheep clothing. 48:03.440 --> 48:07.400 Look at that. Friend, do you not realize that you yourself are a wolf? 48:07.600 --> 48:08.440 You're deceiving yourself. 48:10.700 --> 48:15.500 We got people that think they're called to, oh, let's identify who's a false prophet. 48:15.500 --> 48:18.440 People believe that's an actual calling on their life. 48:18.780 --> 48:23.960 And they will spend decades and years trying to figure out who's a false prophet. 48:24.160 --> 48:26.140 Who's the real prophet? Who is of the Lord? 48:26.260 --> 48:28.380 And they'll spend their whole life, yet miss the mark. 48:28.980 --> 48:32.420 They miss the Lord. They miss him. 48:34.800 --> 48:38.880 How about we stop deceiving ourselves by saying I need God? 48:39.120 --> 48:43.520 How about we stop deceiving ourselves by saying we want more of you God? 48:43.520 --> 48:46.300 Monday rolls around and nothing happens in our life. 48:46.740 --> 48:48.720 We continue on as mundane. 48:49.600 --> 48:54.080 We continue on doing what we think is best, what's convenient for us. 48:55.300 --> 48:58.860 Can I encourage you to start with the small things? 49:00.240 --> 49:03.960 Can I encourage you to start with the small things? 49:05.280 --> 49:07.920 Don't go home today feeling condemned. 49:08.280 --> 49:10.420 Oh my goodness, I got to change my whole life around. 49:10.420 --> 49:14.120 Don't worry about that. Don't worry about the big picture. 49:14.840 --> 49:18.280 For many years I used to stress and I used to look at the big picture. 49:18.800 --> 49:21.240 God, that's where you want me to go. How am I going to get there? 49:21.480 --> 49:24.500 Do you know what he told me? He said, son, just do the small things. 49:26.280 --> 49:27.500 Choose the small things. 49:29.000 --> 49:32.180 It's like a puzzle. It's like a thousand piece puzzle. 49:32.640 --> 49:36.680 You look at it before you open it and you're like, dude, how am I going to get that done? 49:38.180 --> 49:39.660 How am I going to get that done, Lord? 49:40.420 --> 49:43.660 How am I going to organize this ministry? How am I going to do this conference, Lord? 49:43.900 --> 49:47.240 How am I going to lead my family, God? I know I need to change, Lord. 49:47.520 --> 49:48.400 How am I going to change? 49:49.340 --> 49:53.360 Think of it as putting together a thousand piece puzzle. How do you do it? 49:53.740 --> 49:55.140 Piece by piece. 49:56.220 --> 50:01.560 Sometimes it takes you a week and if you're my wife's family, her and her sisters can get a puzzle done in like two days. 50:03.180 --> 50:05.080 When we have family gatherings, they get together. 50:05.220 --> 50:09.080 My mother-in-law, Tanya and her sisters, they get together and that's all they do around the table. 50:09.080 --> 50:12.360 And they talk and they're doing a puzzle. I said, how can you do that? That's not even fun. 50:15.080 --> 50:16.400 And you're looking at me, Natasha. 50:21.000 --> 50:25.880 The Lord is not expecting you to do everything and this and that. 50:26.200 --> 50:29.140 Start with the small things. Make a choice. 50:29.640 --> 50:36.160 Lord, today I want to start not ending my day until I read your scriptures. 50:37.000 --> 50:37.600 Start there. 50:39.080 --> 50:39.760 Read a few verses. 50:41.540 --> 50:44.660 Don't take a big piece of the pie. Don't bite into it. You're going to choke. 50:46.040 --> 50:48.400 You're going to choke. I've tried. It's not fun. 50:50.200 --> 50:53.720 Psalms 34, verse 18. Let me read that again. 50:53.900 --> 51:02.400 The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart and saves such as have a contrite spirit. 51:04.400 --> 51:08.180 What David is saying, there is the same thing that the prophet writes in Isaiah 66. 51:10.420 --> 51:13.520 Let's open up to Psalms 51. I'm going to give you more biblical evidence here. 51:14.040 --> 51:19.080 Psalms 51, verse 17. 51:19.860 --> 51:31.960 Psalms 51, verse 17. Let's start at verse 16. 51:32.980 --> 51:35.460 Can you put verse 16 on the screen there for me? 51:36.680 --> 51:41.900 For you do not desire sacrifice or else I would give it to you. 51:43.040 --> 51:48.760 That reminds me of Hebrews where the scriptures talk about Jesus, 51:49.480 --> 51:55.060 bull offerings, goat offerings, you were not satisfied in, but a body you have prepared for me. 51:56.580 --> 52:04.700 A body you have prepared for me. In other words, to be lowly and to be willing to listen to you and to obey you. 52:06.120 --> 52:11.340 Do you know that the Lord loves obedience over sacrifice? 52:14.660 --> 52:18.640 The Lord would rather have you listen to him than to give a million dollars. 52:22.940 --> 52:27.940 For you do not desire sacrifice or else I would give it. 52:29.160 --> 52:31.640 You do not delight in burnt offering. 52:32.880 --> 52:43.020 Verse 17. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart. 52:43.780 --> 52:46.240 These, O God, you will not despise. 52:50.440 --> 52:59.600 The sacrifices of God, in other words, when you read the Old Testament, when they would bring lambs and put them on the altar, what happened? 53:00.760 --> 53:02.800 A fire would come down, right? And it would eat up the lamb. 53:04.100 --> 53:07.620 You could look at that and you could say they caught the attention of God. 53:08.900 --> 53:12.180 Because if you didn't bring the right sacrifice, the fire didn't come down and eat it up. 53:13.660 --> 53:18.400 So a sacrifice of God is to be what? Let's read it here. 53:18.920 --> 53:20.480 A broken and contrite heart. 53:22.400 --> 53:28.740 That's a sacrifice of God. We actually catch the attention of God and the fire of God can come on our lives. 53:29.940 --> 53:39.300 And we can walk in the fullness of the Lord if we could live lowly, if we could tremble at his word, if we could be contrite and broken. 53:42.180 --> 53:43.400 God says on this one, I'll look. 53:45.460 --> 53:50.600 You see, to live a life of lowliness is a different way of thinking. 53:52.340 --> 53:53.120 It's different. 53:54.260 --> 53:59.660 To live a life of lowliness is a different, even perspective, the way that you perceive things. 54:00.960 --> 54:10.240 You got a majority of people that are looking at a situation this way, but when you are lowly in mind, you look at situations differently. 54:12.700 --> 54:13.520 You do. 54:14.600 --> 54:17.480 Because you have a renewed mind when you are lowly. 54:18.380 --> 54:19.240 You still following me? 54:21.800 --> 54:23.200 Let me go into this quick. 54:24.300 --> 54:25.180 And then we're going to pray. 54:26.020 --> 54:32.300 First Corinthians chapter 1 verse 26 and 31. 54:33.440 --> 54:34.440 First Corinthians. 54:37.820 --> 54:39.920 Let me say this here before I read this. 54:40.000 --> 54:42.540 First Corinthians chapter 1 verse 26. 54:46.100 --> 54:48.900 Let me come back because I feel like I need to say this. 54:50.340 --> 54:55.140 I said that trembling at the word of God is to actually be a doer of the word. 54:55.500 --> 54:59.560 It is to apply the very scriptures and live by them. 54:59.660 --> 55:00.940 It is to embody the scriptures. 55:01.160 --> 55:02.500 That's what it means to tremble at his word. 55:02.640 --> 55:03.260 You guys remember that. 55:03.720 --> 55:04.820 Now let me tell you something. 55:05.540 --> 55:09.900 You can have all the best preachers and all the best speakers. 55:10.440 --> 55:14.020 But unless you choose to apply that ain't nothing going to happen. 55:14.460 --> 55:15.640 Let me give you an example. 55:16.040 --> 55:17.100 Let me give you an example. 55:17.680 --> 55:21.440 In the book of Revelation, we read the seven churches that Jesus addresses. 55:22.280 --> 55:25.500 One of the churches, the Ephesus church, was the Loveless church. 55:27.000 --> 55:30.480 Do you know who established that church? 55:32.000 --> 55:34.560 Bible scholars, and I've heard other pastors say this. 55:34.620 --> 55:35.420 This is where I learned it. 55:35.780 --> 55:37.200 Do you know who established that church? 55:37.200 --> 55:39.260 Some of the high-ranking people. 55:39.400 --> 55:41.260 We're talking about John the Beloved. 55:41.680 --> 55:43.500 We're talking about the Apostle Paul. 55:43.780 --> 55:45.360 We're talking about Mary Magdalene. 55:45.600 --> 55:47.460 We're talking about Mary the Mother of Jesus. 55:47.740 --> 55:54.320 And all the other apostles played in to the factor of establishing that church, the Ephesus church. 55:55.240 --> 55:58.660 Yet it's to them that God said you're Loveless. 56:01.870 --> 56:03.810 You would think, but they had all the people. 56:04.130 --> 56:05.310 How could they be Loveless? 56:06.190 --> 56:11.890 Because you can be preaching and have some of the highest people up here walking closely with the Lord, 56:12.170 --> 56:15.930 giving you a message, yet God will still call you Loveless, 56:16.050 --> 56:18.470 because you're not applying what's being preached and taught. 56:20.410 --> 56:25.410 He addresses the church as we would think, these are like the people, man. 56:25.750 --> 56:28.990 This is the Beloved. This is John the Revelator. 56:29.110 --> 56:31.510 He wrote the book of Revelation, all these things. 56:31.730 --> 56:33.290 And you're telling me his church? 56:33.290 --> 56:35.890 God called a Loveless church? Yes. 56:37.050 --> 56:39.930 It's his church that God called you are Loveless. 56:42.570 --> 56:46.370 To tremble at his word is to be doers of that word. 56:47.410 --> 56:48.890 It's to not be satisfied. 56:50.550 --> 56:55.730 It's to have deep remorse and a thinking of the Lord. 56:55.910 --> 56:56.830 Lord, I don't want to hurt you. 56:57.450 --> 56:58.510 That's lowly, friends. 56:58.510 --> 57:03.890 Now watch this, Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 26, chapter 1 verse 26. 57:04.770 --> 57:07.050 Let me read it here and then we'll come to a wrap. 57:09.610 --> 57:14.610 For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, 57:15.130 --> 57:19.270 not many mighty, not many noble are called. 57:19.810 --> 57:21.110 Pay attention to what he's writing here. 57:21.890 --> 57:22.730 Verse 27. 57:23.490 --> 57:30.810 But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise. 57:31.410 --> 57:38.310 And God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty. 57:39.430 --> 57:45.190 And the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen. 57:45.730 --> 57:49.890 And the things which are not to bring to nothing the things that are. 57:49.890 --> 57:53.030 That no flesh should glory in his presence. 57:53.910 --> 58:01.830 But of him you are in Christ Jesus who became for us wisdom from God and righteousness and sanctification and redemption. 58:02.570 --> 58:06.390 That as it is written he who glories let him glory in the Lord. 58:06.770 --> 58:11.090 Do you remember I said that lowliness of mind is the blueprint of the end time revival? 58:11.650 --> 58:12.490 Do you know why? 58:13.350 --> 58:16.250 Because God chooses the low things of this world. 58:18.550 --> 58:23.690 I said God chooses the things that are low to bring about his glory. 58:25.130 --> 58:27.390 God chooses the foolish things. 58:28.770 --> 58:34.910 God would choose a man from Ukraine that's a dropout out of high school. 58:35.090 --> 58:37.110 Never went to no Bible college. 58:37.350 --> 58:40.490 God would choose me to come and speak at pulpits. 58:43.830 --> 58:47.730 God would choose me who actually as a baby was sold. 58:48.210 --> 58:50.970 You want to hear my story I can tell you my story. 58:52.730 --> 58:56.490 We think that people that are preachers they come from these high places. 58:56.730 --> 59:00.210 God chooses the foolish things the things that are low. 59:00.450 --> 59:06.450 He regards them the things that are in a contrite spirit trembling at his word and our poor in spirit. 59:06.630 --> 59:11.810 He chooses those things he pulls them up and he brings them to places to lead a people. 59:12.730 --> 59:14.430 That's what the Apostle Paul is writing. 59:15.730 --> 59:18.010 I said that's what the Apostle Paul is writing. 59:19.450 --> 59:20.950 It's the things that are weak. 59:21.970 --> 59:29.770 That's why in 2 Corinthians when Apostle Paul is writing when God spoke to the Apostle Paul and he said my grace is sufficient for you. 59:30.110 --> 59:34.290 So the Apostle Paul says I will more so boast in my weakness. 59:34.970 --> 59:37.390 I will boast in my infirmities. 59:37.470 --> 59:39.890 The word that's used there is actually infirmities. 59:39.890 --> 59:42.410 Now let me quickly debunk an argument. 59:42.950 --> 59:48.770 People say that in 2 Corinthians that the Apostle Paul the thorn in his side was a disease or infirmity. 59:49.050 --> 59:52.690 Can I tell you something? It was not a disease. It was not an infirmity. 59:52.910 --> 59:56.230 Do you know what it was? It was the weakness of the Apostle Paul. 59:56.490 --> 59:59.870 Because in that scripture Apostle Paul says infirmity. 01:00:00.090 --> 01:00:02.810 In the Greek do you know what that word infirmity translates? 01:00:03.090 --> 01:00:04.990 It's only in that place that it translates that way. 01:00:05.310 --> 01:00:09.590 That word in the Greek infirmity in 2 Corinthians translates as weakness. 01:00:10.670 --> 01:00:15.270 Other times it translates as diseases and other things, sicknesses. 01:00:15.490 --> 01:00:21.190 But in that specific place where the Apostle Paul is saying I will boast in my infirmities. 01:00:21.450 --> 01:00:23.810 He's not talking about I'm going to boast in my cancer. 01:00:24.190 --> 01:00:28.170 He's talking about I'm going to boast in the weakness of this flesh. 01:00:28.210 --> 01:00:33.110 Because when I do that then the glory and the power of God manifests. 01:00:34.130 --> 01:00:38.030 When I talk about my weaknesses then God will step in. 01:00:38.030 --> 01:00:41.570 When I live a life that's lowly then God will step in. 01:00:41.910 --> 01:00:47.590 Then a measure of power is accessible on to me when I'm lowly. 01:00:48.490 --> 01:00:50.730 Can I tell you the truth and we'll pray here soon. 01:00:51.410 --> 01:00:57.350 There is a realm of God's power that we as a church have not yet accessed. 01:00:57.630 --> 01:00:59.330 Because we haven't got lowly yet. 01:01:01.350 --> 01:01:06.010 I long for that day. You're going to hear me say this for years until it happens. 01:01:06.010 --> 01:01:11.810 I long for the day that I can walk in such lowliness before the Lord. 01:01:11.990 --> 01:01:18.830 And I would attract the face of God in such a measure that when I preach people would get up out of wheelchairs. 01:01:19.050 --> 01:01:19.970 I long for that day. 01:01:20.490 --> 01:01:25.250 Because my hands won't even be laid which means no credit be done on to me. 01:01:25.370 --> 01:01:26.630 But I'll be done on to him. 01:01:27.290 --> 01:01:28.790 I long for that day. 01:01:29.190 --> 01:01:33.070 I long to see people delivered coming into services. 01:01:33.070 --> 01:01:38.850 I long to see people baptized and healed without even laying hands on them. 01:01:39.130 --> 01:01:40.390 I long for that day. 01:01:40.870 --> 01:01:42.530 And I'm going to boast in my weakness. 01:01:42.910 --> 01:01:48.130 I'm going to boast in my shortcomings and say Lord I know that your grace is sufficient for me. 01:01:48.450 --> 01:01:51.430 I know God that I may not be grammarly proper. 01:01:51.830 --> 01:01:53.730 I may not even use the correct words. 01:01:54.030 --> 01:02:00.790 But Lord in that, in that I am not showing my eloquent speech but simply demonstrating the power of God. 01:02:02.430 --> 01:02:07.290 We have people that go for years to Bible colleges and they learn the proper English. 01:02:07.510 --> 01:02:08.970 I'm sorry I don't have that. 01:02:09.470 --> 01:02:10.290 I don't have it cool. 01:02:10.870 --> 01:02:12.410 See I can't even pronounce that word. 01:02:13.110 --> 01:02:14.270 I don't have it. 01:02:14.590 --> 01:02:15.870 And I'm fine with it. 01:02:16.230 --> 01:02:20.670 Lord as long as you're showing up and your power is coming I'm satisfied my God. 01:02:21.090 --> 01:02:22.590 I'm satisfied my God. 01:02:23.090 --> 01:02:24.650 I'm satisfied my God. 01:02:25.950 --> 01:02:31.810 God regards the lowly and he says he says that he will use the lowly. 01:02:32.370 --> 01:02:37.070 He says he will use the lowly in the time even now and the time that's to come. 01:02:37.370 --> 01:02:39.650 This is the blueprint of the end time revival. 01:02:41.410 --> 01:02:44.510 We say come Lord but are we actually meaning it? 01:02:45.170 --> 01:02:49.450 We say come Lord we want you but are we actually wanting him? 01:02:51.290 --> 01:02:52.810 This is Jesus speaking. 01:02:52.810 --> 01:02:57.630 He said I have made myself vulnerable to you. 01:02:59.570 --> 01:03:04.430 You know what's interesting I think many times we don't understand that Jesus has feelings too. 01:03:06.170 --> 01:03:10.930 And he comes and offers and he says I've got something for you and we reject him. 01:03:11.630 --> 01:03:14.390 And we reject him and we reject him. 01:03:16.010 --> 01:03:18.290 That could be part of what he's saying here. 01:03:18.570 --> 01:03:20.350 Hey I'm making myself vulnerable here. 01:03:21.330 --> 01:03:22.470 Don't reject me. 01:03:22.810 --> 01:03:23.470 I've got feelings too. 01:03:24.990 --> 01:03:30.350 I have come here seeking you and your acceptance. 01:03:32.110 --> 01:03:36.110 You can accept or reject. 01:03:38.630 --> 01:03:40.190 Isn't that interesting? 01:03:41.610 --> 01:03:46.590 Because many times we come from the perspective we want to be accepted by God which we do. 01:03:47.590 --> 01:03:50.170 But God wants to be accepted by us. 01:03:50.170 --> 01:03:53.590 Or this relationship never establishes. 01:03:54.490 --> 01:03:58.150 I've come here seeking you and your acceptance. 01:03:58.430 --> 01:03:59.930 You can either accept or reject. 01:04:01.910 --> 01:04:07.630 For you to have more of me you must decrease. 01:04:10.070 --> 01:04:13.950 Only one of us can inhabit this space. 01:04:16.030 --> 01:04:19.950 And I am presuming the space he's talking about there is our temple. 01:04:20.170 --> 01:04:21.570 We're living in. 01:04:24.330 --> 01:04:30.430 Increase only comes by decrease or with decrease. 01:04:31.070 --> 01:04:33.570 So he's on a theme here. 01:04:35.510 --> 01:04:39.850 You cannot do this only by you cannot do this. 01:04:40.070 --> 01:04:45.230 Only by me can things or this be done. 01:04:46.210 --> 01:04:49.250 You must present your bodies a living sacrifice. 01:04:50.170 --> 01:04:57.410 There's a theme flowing through this whole thing which is to not reject him but to accept him. 01:04:58.210 --> 01:05:05.630 There's things in our lives that need to decrease or become less and less and less. 01:05:07.290 --> 01:05:10.010 Can't do it on our own we can only do it by him. 01:05:10.270 --> 01:05:15.850 But we have to present our bodies a living sacrifice for him to increase. 01:05:16.990 --> 01:05:18.410 So the question is simple. 01:05:19.550 --> 01:05:22.530 What is he talking to you about that needs to go? 01:05:24.250 --> 01:05:29.690 He's been talking to us this morning about things in our life that need to decrease until they're gone. 01:05:30.510 --> 01:05:31.430 What is it? 01:05:32.130 --> 01:05:35.130 Because we say okay I got I want more more more. 01:05:36.410 --> 01:05:40.230 Well to get more more more of him we have to be less less less of us. 01:05:44.020 --> 01:05:48.120 So I think this is a personal question for all of you myself included. 01:05:49.880 --> 01:05:55.440 If we want him to increase what is he talking to us about that needs to decrease? 01:05:57.320 --> 01:06:04.260 Because until that thing goes he said this space can only be occupied by one of us. 01:06:04.420 --> 01:06:11.080 So there's areas in our life we are occupying and he's just standing back going well I can't occupy that you're in that spot. 01:06:11.800 --> 01:06:14.700 Now if you'll get out and let it go I'll move in. 01:06:15.520 --> 01:06:17.300 That's what I hear them saying here. 01:06:19.280 --> 01:06:20.480 Lord we love you. 01:06:25.870 --> 01:06:29.590 We want to be a house Lord that is lowly. 01:06:37.690 --> 01:06:39.770 We want to be a house Lord that is lowly. 01:06:40.830 --> 01:06:42.310 That attracts you. 01:06:49.900 --> 01:06:52.800 We want to be a house Lord that attracts you. 01:06:54.920 --> 01:06:56.320 That you would look at us. 01:06:57.940 --> 01:07:00.060 And you would say on this one I look. 01:07:04.060 --> 01:07:07.800 Cause us as individuals and as a corporate house Lord. 01:07:09.100 --> 01:07:11.360 To be poor in our spirit. 01:07:12.760 --> 01:07:16.940 To have a contrite spirit and trembling at your word. 01:07:22.940 --> 01:07:24.440 Don't pass us by Lord. 01:07:28.390 --> 01:07:30.610 Son of David don't pass us by. 01:07:34.850 --> 01:07:37.290 Son of David don't pass us by. 01:07:42.300 --> 01:07:49.700 Let us not be ones that are distracted by the things around us that we miss when you walk by Lord. 01:07:53.670 --> 01:08:01.890 But may we hear the cry of John the Baptist as you cried and said behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. 01:08:02.870 --> 01:08:07.150 May we be a people that would forever hear that cry of John the Baptist. 01:08:07.150 --> 01:08:13.230 And we would look on to Jesus the author and the perfecter of our faith. 01:08:14.430 --> 01:08:16.450 The finisher of our faith. 01:08:17.570 --> 01:08:19.630 Son of David don't pass us by. 01:08:25.200 --> 01:08:27.640 Son of David don't pass us by. 01:08:29.020 --> 01:08:32.640 Let us forever hear the echo of the cry of John the Baptist. 01:08:36.690 --> 01:08:40.730 May we not be caught up in the signs and the wonders when they come. 01:08:40.730 --> 01:08:43.530 But may we always be caught up with you Lord. 01:08:44.490 --> 01:08:46.670 Looking on to you the Lamb of God. 01:08:49.110 --> 01:08:52.570 The Word of God who became flesh. 01:08:55.090 --> 01:08:58.510 May we thank you for the outpour and the signs and the wonders. 01:08:58.910 --> 01:09:03.850 But may our attention and attraction always be caught up and locked in with you Lord. 01:09:05.390 --> 01:09:08.830 May we not be like Peter when we step out of our boats. 01:09:09.690 --> 01:09:12.750 And are distracted by everything and begin to sink. 01:09:13.070 --> 01:09:16.710 But we would be those that would be caught up with the eyes of Jesus. 01:09:24.160 --> 01:09:26.600 Let the love of God captivate us. 01:09:29.180 --> 01:09:30.080 Embrace us. 01:09:30.980 --> 01:09:31.780 Sear our hearts. 01:09:32.080 --> 01:09:32.700 Mark us. 01:09:33.700 --> 01:09:34.700 Never the same. 01:09:34.860 --> 01:09:37.920 Let the love of God cause us to be never the same. 01:09:38.860 --> 01:09:39.740 The Word of God.
