This morning I want 02:07.330 --> 02:13.970 to talk a little bit about praying the Word and then we're going to do a little of that. 02:15.510 --> 02:20.830 Praying the Word or praying the Scripture, that falls into three categories. You've got the written Word, 02:22.530 --> 02:28.870 you have the written Word that has become Ramah to you, or the written Word that's spoken to us, 02:29.810 --> 02:35.990 and then you also have the Word that, or words that God has specifically, or the Holy Spirit 02:35.990 --> 02:42.530 has specifically spoken to you. Maybe not Scripture, maybe not out of the Word, but 02:42.530 --> 02:48.970 there are Ramah words he spoke to you. We include those when we're praying because those are specific 02:48.970 --> 02:57.230 promises made to us personally by God. But obviously the Word is supreme here. So I want to 02:57.230 --> 03:03.930 look at some examples of this. One of the best intercessors that you find in Scripture 03:04.830 --> 03:11.790 to show us, even in the Old Testament he knew this principle, is Moses. And I want to go there 03:11.790 --> 03:23.670 and read this to you. Exodus 32, we're going to start at verse number seven. And go down through 03:23.670 --> 03:33.770 verse 14, and I'm in the New King James Version. So Moses is on the mountain with God. The 40 days 03:33.770 --> 03:39.250 he was up there. And the Lord said to Moses, verse seven, Go get down, for your people 03:39.250 --> 03:45.170 whom you brought out of the land of Egypt have corrupted themselves. They have turned aside quickly 03:45.170 --> 03:51.230 out of the way which I commanded them. They have made themselves a molded calf, and worshiped it, 03:51.350 --> 03:56.310 and sacrificed to it, and said, this is your God, O Israel, that brought you up out of the 03:56.310 --> 04:01.990 land of Egypt. So there's the setting. There's God's clueing Moses into what's going on down 04:01.990 --> 04:07.070 below. And the Lord said to Moses, I've seen this people, and indeed it is a stiff-necked 04:07.070 --> 04:15.310 people. In other words, stubborn, stubborn bunch. Now therefore, let me alone that my wrath may burn 04:15.310 --> 04:22.350 hot against them, and I may consume them, and I will make of you a great nation. And this is a 04:22.350 --> 04:31.270 side thought from praying the word. But he said, now let me alone. Apparently there was good 04:31.270 --> 04:40.270 communication going on between Moses and God. And Moses was an interceder kind of person. We're 04:40.270 --> 04:49.790 going to see that here in a bit. The thing that many times people can miss here is God offered 04:49.790 --> 04:57.810 something to Moses that really could appeal to his flesh. Pride. Let me get rid of them, 04:57.810 --> 05:04.590 and let's start over with you. Wow. So God is actually contemplating that. 05:05.570 --> 05:12.330 Then Moses pleaded with the Lord his God. So many times we plead with God, but we don't 05:12.330 --> 05:20.530 do it in a way that is productive. The thing we have to remember is we have no standing with 05:20.530 --> 05:32.470 God whatsoever outside of covenant. Outside of covenant, his word, his will, I'm going to say 05:32.470 --> 05:37.330 his will, but will doesn't mean what he wants. Will, I'm referring to, if you go to some of 05:37.330 --> 05:43.110 the old Bibles, it has the, in front of the Old Testament, it has the old will in 05:43.110 --> 05:50.070 Testament, and then you go to the new one. It goes to the new will in Testament. It's 05:50.070 --> 05:59.170 a legal document, the scripture. And when we come to God, we have to come on a legal basis. 06:00.890 --> 06:08.290 This isn't just a emotional experience, an emotional thing that God decided to do. 06:08.670 --> 06:13.150 Everything that God did in the redemption and in the salvation of man and so forth 06:13.150 --> 06:22.650 is a very legal thing that is carried out in that realm, so that you don't have 06:23.430 --> 06:29.950 the prosecuting attorney, the accuser of the brethren, able to go before the throne and 06:29.950 --> 06:38.410 say this isn't legal. Our attorney, Jesus, our advocate goes before the throne to defend us. 06:39.070 --> 06:44.490 So this, the whole scriptural thing is a very legal document from God's perspective. 06:46.110 --> 06:52.650 So we have no standing. It's like, it's like you're a child and your parents died 06:53.190 --> 07:00.090 and the lawyers opening the will. If you're not in the will, you have no standing. 07:01.330 --> 07:05.590 Now you can sue, you can go to court, you can do, I was one of the kids, I was the favorite, 07:05.590 --> 07:12.410 blah blah blah. It's what's in the legal document that gives you your standing. 07:13.230 --> 07:20.630 When we go before the throne, it's what's in the legal document that gives us our standing. 07:21.910 --> 07:28.350 Otherwise, we have no standing. So Moses pleaded with the Lord his God. A lot of Christians 07:28.350 --> 07:32.970 do that, but they don't get anywhere because we don't come on the basis of our legal standing. 07:33.570 --> 07:37.290 And he said, Lord, why does your wrath burn hot against your people whom you have brought out 07:37.290 --> 07:42.070 of the land of Egypt with great power and a mighty hand? Why should the Egyptians speak and say 07:42.630 --> 07:46.730 he brought them out to harm them, to kill them in the mountains, to consume them from 07:46.730 --> 07:52.050 the face of the earth? Turn from your fierce wrath and relent from this harm to your people. 07:53.490 --> 08:00.590 So there's his plea. What gives him right to even speak to God about that? Next verse. 08:00.590 --> 08:07.910 Now he's going back to the word. Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, or Israel. Your 08:07.910 --> 08:16.330 servants to whom you swore by your own self and said to them. So he's bringing his plea 08:16.330 --> 08:26.650 before the Father on the basis of what the Father has already said. He is now praying the word. 08:27.830 --> 08:35.270 The word of God. You said, I will multiply your descendants as the stars of heaven and all 08:35.270 --> 08:40.530 this land that I've spoken of. I give to your descendants and they shall inherit it forever. 08:42.450 --> 08:48.610 So the Lord relented from the harm which he said he would do to his people. Why? Because 08:48.610 --> 08:58.810 Moses reminded him of his word. That is our legal standing. That is what gives us the right to, 08:59.270 --> 09:18.590 how would you say, get in front of God and change things up. Go with me to Matthew. Let's 09:18.590 --> 09:23.910 when they're praying, the scriptures they're using are not New Testament scriptures because 09:23.910 --> 09:29.830 those haven't been written yet. They're coming out of the Old Testament scriptures and what 09:29.830 --> 09:38.250 those scriptures had to say about God. So Jesus, Matthew 6 verse 9. He's talking about prayer. 09:39.110 --> 09:45.890 He says, after this manner, therefore pray. Our Father in heaven, hell would be your name. 09:47.630 --> 09:53.730 He's quoting word. Now, he's not saying, well, and do it around me three, blah, blah, blah, 09:53.910 --> 09:56.850 blah, but he's quoting word. Our Father. What does the word Father mean? 09:58.870 --> 10:12.510 What does the word Father mean? Nope, not Daddy, not there. Generator, originator, source. 10:14.710 --> 10:23.970 The word Father almost all the way through Scripture means generator, originator, source. 10:25.050 --> 10:28.970 Now, if you throw Abba in front of it, you can end up with more of an intimate term. 10:30.610 --> 10:40.910 So Jesus is saying, when you pray, start by acknowledging who is the originator of this 10:40.910 --> 10:49.090 whole thing. Where does that come out of? Genesis 1. So right from the beginning he's saying, Genesis 10:49.090 --> 10:56.210 1, our Father, which art in heaven. Well, he clarifies that later. There is another Father 10:56.210 --> 11:02.470 who is not of heaven. He's of this earth. He's the Father of lies. Hallowed be your name. 11:02.750 --> 11:07.510 Well, we know that he's quoting Scripture there because when Satan came to tempt him, 11:08.000 --> 11:14.310 he said, there's only one you're supposed to worship. It is written. You shall worship 11:15.070 --> 11:21.750 God and him only. Well, hallowed, making holy hallowed reverence worshiping his name. 11:22.030 --> 11:28.850 So he starts right out of the gate saying, start with Scripture in your mouth. Pray the word. 11:30.190 --> 11:34.790 Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. 11:37.510 --> 11:41.390 The concept of God having a kingdom comes, does come out of the Old Testament. 11:48.520 --> 11:54.440 I'm going to let you think on that one. You find it. Give us this day our daily bread. Well, 11:54.460 --> 11:59.200 why would he say that? Because every good thing comes from the Father of light. 12:00.640 --> 12:08.100 Why? Because he's the originator. He's the generator. He's the one it begins from. 12:09.280 --> 12:14.520 Forgive us our sins as we forgive our debtors. Forgiveness was spoken of all through the Old 12:14.520 --> 12:20.620 Testament. I mean, that one, that one's easy to find. And do not lead us in temptation, 12:20.880 --> 12:29.320 but deliver us from the evil one. So the concept of following God, he asked the 12:29.320 --> 12:36.420 children of Israel to follow him. Numerous ways, the cloud, the fire, the kings, 12:36.420 --> 12:44.600 the judges, numerous ways, follow. So that's an Old Testament concept. He's praying the word. 12:45.080 --> 12:55.260 He's praying what the Father already wanted. Lead me. Deliver us from evil evil. We could 12:55.260 --> 13:00.300 take it apart piece by piece. Not going to do that. For yours is the kingdom, the power, 13:00.380 --> 13:04.920 and the glory forever. Amen. Paul said it this way. Jesus will submit himself back to 13:04.920 --> 13:10.220 the Father so that God may be all in all. Where does that concept come from? The Father being all 13:10.220 --> 13:16.620 in all. I mean, he is all encompassing of all. It's absolutely Old Testament. 13:17.700 --> 13:34.900 So Jesus laid out a prayer for us based on the word. Go to Paul with me. Ephesians 13:34.900 --> 13:45.420 I believe it's verse 15. Yes. Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus 13:45.420 --> 13:52.520 and your love for all the saints. So he heard there's new born Christians in Ephesus. 13:53.800 --> 14:02.820 I do not cease to give thanks for you and making not end. I do not cease to give 14:02.820 --> 14:09.940 thanks for you making mention of you in my prayers. So what was Paul praying for these 14:09.940 --> 14:20.300 new Christians? That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ. So we're talking Father, Son, 14:21.660 --> 14:28.600 the Father of glory may give you the spirit of wisdom. New King James has that small there. 14:29.180 --> 14:33.440 If you look in your Bible, it's at least in mine. It's a small s. That should be a capital s. 14:33.560 --> 14:38.600 He's not talking about some new age spirit that's going to float out there. He's talking about 14:38.600 --> 14:46.080 the Holy Spirit. So that the Father, Son, Holy Spirit. So already he's talking three, 14:47.020 --> 14:52.240 the Trinity. Where does that come from? Comes from the Old Testament name Elohim. 14:53.800 --> 14:59.520 The Trinity. That is the God of creation. You find it right away in Genesis 1. 15:01.060 --> 15:07.340 So right from the beginning he's saying, I'm praying a scriptural concept here. 15:07.680 --> 15:10.880 We're dealing with the three who are one. 15:13.120 --> 15:20.300 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory. So it's the Father may give you 15:20.300 --> 15:24.320 the spirit of wisdom and revelation. Why the Father give that? Why not Jesus? 15:25.720 --> 15:30.700 I already answered that earlier. Think back. The name Father is the originator. 15:31.900 --> 15:39.320 Everything comes from the Father. Through Jesus and the Holy Spirit takes it and makes it alive 15:39.320 --> 15:45.160 and applies it to us as he lives with us in an everyday basis. What is he praying for? 15:45.160 --> 15:49.300 Wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of the Father, him. 15:51.800 --> 15:56.420 Why knowledge of him? Well, my, what doesn't it say some place in the Old Testament? My people 15:56.420 --> 16:03.820 perish for lack of knowledge. And what does Proverbs say over and over? Wisdom and revelation. 16:04.100 --> 16:15.140 I pray you get wisdom, revelation, understanding, prudence, insight. So Paul is taking, remember 16:15.140 --> 16:24.520 the word and praying it over these people. He isn't just getting emotional and saying these things. 16:25.340 --> 16:32.000 He's praying the word. The eyes of your understanding being enlightened. Again, 16:32.120 --> 16:37.280 Proverbs talks about that, that you may know the hope of his calling, the Father's calling, 16:37.670 --> 16:44.400 that you may know the hope of his calling. What are the riches of the glory of the glory of 16:44.400 --> 16:53.820 his inheritance in the saints? Now Paul had received, I'm going to take that verse and I'm 16:53.820 --> 17:02.060 going to tie it to Galatians two when after Paul was saved, he immediately began preaching. 17:02.600 --> 17:09.460 So he saw some things, but we don't know what he began preaching. Was it accurate? Was it not? 17:09.780 --> 17:17.660 Because you're taking someone who was a legalist of legalists in the Pharisee realm and you're 17:17.660 --> 17:23.840 bringing them over to grace. And he was last week trying to kill the Christians. This week 17:23.840 --> 17:31.200 he's, he's touting Jesus as the way. Where did he get the correct information to make that 17:31.200 --> 17:40.080 shift? Okay, so I'm going to tie what he says, a few of these things to Galatians two. After Paul 17:40.080 --> 17:45.440 was saved, he began preaching. And then God took him into the desert of Arabia 17:47.400 --> 17:50.240 for I believe it was three and a half years, I didn't look it up. 17:51.760 --> 17:59.660 Three and a half years to be taught by Jesus. This is in Galatians two. 18:00.780 --> 18:09.580 Then he came out and met with the leaders of the church and so forth. Paul was given a, 18:09.720 --> 18:15.980 it's called the Pauline revelation, if you want to get technical, Paul was given a huge revelation 18:16.620 --> 18:21.600 of grace and what Jesus had done and how that applies to the church. He had an immense 18:21.600 --> 18:26.380 understanding of the Old Testament. So Jesus just showed him all the pictures and types and 18:26.380 --> 18:32.260 said, here's where we're going. Well, if this is where we're going, verse 18, I'm praying that the 18:32.260 --> 18:36.860 eyes of your understanding would be enlightened that you may know the hope of this calling, 18:37.060 --> 18:42.360 or his calling. What are the riches of his and glory, of his inheritance in the saints? 18:42.760 --> 18:46.260 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power toward us who believe 18:46.260 --> 18:53.660 according to his mighty power, according to his mighty dunamis? Where did Paul learn all that? 18:54.680 --> 19:02.820 He learned that in the desert of Arabia. This was Jesus speaking to him, giving him the revelation 19:02.820 --> 19:08.720 of what is happening, where are we going, and this is what you have to reveal to the church. 19:10.760 --> 19:16.240 So here we're dealing with, I mean, there's elements of that you can find in the Old 19:16.240 --> 19:21.820 Testament, but some of that is brand new. You don't find it in the Old Testament. 19:22.820 --> 19:26.820 Well, where did Paul get it? He got it straight from Jesus' mouth. 19:28.400 --> 19:39.660 So he's praying what Jesus revealed to him and told him. That is quick application. When we're praying 19:39.660 --> 19:48.000 and we see a vision, we see a picture, we hear something from God, deal with this, pray this, 19:48.000 --> 19:56.680 whatever. There is the format for us to pray because that is hearing from God by the Spirit. 19:58.520 --> 20:01.020 Well, can you pray that? Absolutely. He just spoke to you. 20:05.850 --> 20:09.510 You still following me? You're still tracking? Am I going too fast for you? 20:11.890 --> 20:15.810 When he speaks to you, you're going down a prayer line, you get a word of knowledge. You're 20:15.810 --> 20:20.110 going through Walmart and God says, there, that person go talk to him. I need you to pray 20:20.110 --> 20:24.050 for them. I can see if he can get an opening. You just heard from the Spirit. 20:25.730 --> 20:31.370 That is a spoken word of God. Now, it's not on the same level as the written word of God. I mean, 20:31.390 --> 20:35.710 don't put it there. It's not the same level. But the Holy Spirit is guiding and directing. He's 20:35.710 --> 20:41.470 speaking to you. If you keep listening, he'll tell you what to pray. He'll tell you what to say. 20:44.470 --> 20:48.650 That's what Paul's doing right here. Verse 20, 20:48.930 --> 20:52.910 which he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at the right hand 20:52.910 --> 20:57.730 in heavenly places, far above all principality, power, might, dominion, every name that is named, 20:57.890 --> 21:02.690 not only in this age, but the age that is to come, putting all things under his feet, 21:02.910 --> 21:07.010 gave him to be the head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fullness of 21:07.010 --> 21:17.170 him who fills it all in all. You can find elements of that, sprinklings of that in the Old Testament. 21:19.310 --> 21:27.910 But you don't find a lot. Why? Because this is the shift of the New Covenant. This is the 21:27.910 --> 21:36.310 shift of the New Testament. Paul is praying the Word. He's praying the Word that was spoken 21:36.310 --> 21:49.360 to him. So when God speaks something to you, you pray it. You speak it. You call it because 21:49.360 --> 21:58.400 it's a personal promise to you. You have the right to go before the throne with that. It's 21:58.400 --> 22:04.300 what gives you the authority to do it. The thing we have to remember is without the Word, there 22:04.300 --> 22:12.980 is no faith. I mean, you've heard different ministers say no Word, no faith. See, the Word 22:12.980 --> 22:21.660 is what gives us the authority to come before the throne. It is the legal document that gives 22:21.660 --> 22:31.700 us the right to stand before God and address him. It is also, you know, Romans 10, 17, 22:31.700 --> 22:40.000 faith cometh by hearing the Word that's dealing with the reima. So if we don't have the reima, 22:40.120 --> 22:47.740 if we don't have the words of God, the spoken Word of God, he said something to us, we have no faith. 22:49.240 --> 22:56.140 Because faith comes by getting that spoken Word to you. So if we go before the throne, 22:56.140 --> 23:04.520 we're praying for something without any Word. We're standing there without faith. 23:07.590 --> 23:11.790 So what are we praying on? Is it our emotion? We might be praying out of emotion. 23:12.810 --> 23:17.770 Emotion doesn't move God. Or he would be doing a lot on this earth. 23:20.530 --> 23:23.850 Are we praying out of our need? Maybe we're just that needy. 23:24.650 --> 23:31.470 Need doesn't move God either. Or again, he would be doing mega things on this earth, 23:31.510 --> 23:38.130 because there is a lot of need. Well, we're praying because we're a child of God. On what basis are 23:38.130 --> 23:49.000 you a child of God? It's on the basis of the Word. Are you in the will? Are you in the Word? 23:49.000 --> 23:50.120 Are you there? 23:52.840 --> 23:59.160 So to pray without the Word is to pray outside of faith. The only thing that moves God is faith. 24:00.720 --> 24:05.100 And how is faith activated? The Word of faith is 24:07.480 --> 24:14.660 nigh thee, even in your mouth. Faith is activated the most by what we say. 24:15.740 --> 24:23.880 Now, James said, show me your faith and I'll show you works, because faith and how you live life 24:23.880 --> 24:36.760 go together. So yes, it's more than that. But the thing that I am positive sets us apart from 24:36.760 --> 24:43.680 all the rest of creation as human beings, being made in the image and likeness of God. 24:44.660 --> 24:53.880 Is our ability to create with our mouth. That is God. Our ability to create with our mouth. 24:55.000 --> 25:07.480 Faith is near you, even in your mouth. Faith comes by the Word. So the Word has to be in our 25:07.480 --> 25:19.830 mouth. Or it's not faith. So God, we're just asking you help us because we need you. We need you. 25:20.430 --> 25:26.950 I don't know if I can do this. I feel like quitting. God, if there's anything you can 25:26.950 --> 25:32.570 possibly do, please help us. How high do you think that prayer goes? 25:34.410 --> 25:39.370 If you're a really baby, baby Christian, that'll go all the way to the throne. 25:40.730 --> 25:44.730 If you've lived for God any length of time at all, it probably didn't make it past the 25:44.730 --> 25:52.440 ceiling. It's not a scriptural prayer. You're coming to God as a beggar. 25:54.020 --> 25:57.740 So first of all, we're not even realizing we're not beggars. 25:59.660 --> 26:08.320 We are inheritors. We are children. We are sons. The covenant, which is the legal 26:08.880 --> 26:19.100 document which gives us legal standing, was given to us. So we have to include faith of the Word 26:19.100 --> 26:24.840 in all of our life, but specifically when we pray. Without the Word, there's very few 26:24.840 --> 26:30.040 confirmations, signs and wonders from God. Because what did God say? Mark 16, 17, 20, 26:30.040 --> 26:40.100 Acts 14, 3, Hebrews 2, 3, and 4, he confirms the Word with signs that follow. So how do we pray the 26:40.100 --> 26:43.820 Word? We're going to take a little bit here and we're going to pray the Word. And I've asked a 26:43.820 --> 26:47.880 couple of guys who I... there's numerous ones I could ask, but I just asked a couple of the 26:47.880 --> 26:54.300 board members to help me with this and have them pray about something that's on their heart 26:54.720 --> 26:58.140 and show us how they pray the Word because I've heard them pray the Word. 26:58.140 --> 27:06.020 And remember, you can pray the written Word. You can pray the written Word that has been spoken to 27:06.020 --> 27:14.080 you, which is rama. And sometimes when I get praying, this is my experience. If I will start 27:14.080 --> 27:22.420 praying the written Word, the rama will come on the spot. And it's like the Holy Spirit will 27:22.420 --> 27:28.620 grab it and say, pray that. That's a rama. He just spoke to me and gives me something right 27:28.620 --> 27:31.160 on the spot. So you've got the written Word. You've got the written Word, which has been 27:31.160 --> 27:36.140 spoken to us. And then you've got the things that have been spoken to us, not even in the Word. 27:37.500 --> 27:41.820 Like for instance, old example, you've heard it many times, but just a refresher, 27:42.300 --> 27:50.520 Mary will be as Jacks. It's what gives us our standing.
