But it's also 00:35.800 --> 00:39.220 kind of a little bit of my own personal journey to get there, because I think it's important 00:39.220 --> 00:45.160 to share with all of you sometimes how the Lord works in different ways, specifically 00:45.160 --> 00:51.660 when you're not a pastor. Because I think a lot of us that don't preach every Sunday 00:51.660 --> 00:55.460 or don't have that accountability, we kind of think, oh, pastors only work this way 00:55.460 --> 01:00.100 and it doesn't work that way for me. So I thought it'd be insightful to share some of 01:00.100 --> 01:04.760 that with you as we get to where, like I said, the emphasis I think the Lord wanted to put 01:04.760 --> 01:09.520 on this morning. So I'm going to kind of weave that in throughout the little bit of 01:09.520 --> 01:16.640 time here we have this morning. But it started even before I knew we were doing prayer. 01:16.740 --> 01:22.280 I was doing prayer this morning, and I was having lunch with a friend, and he kind 01:22.280 --> 01:25.840 of looked at me and asked me the question. He's like, what is the fear of the Lord? 01:25.920 --> 01:30.360 What does that mean? What does that look like? How do you get that? And almost 01:30.360 --> 01:37.000 instantly I gave an answer, and my answer was something along the lines of 01:37.720 --> 01:45.200 it's intimacy with Jesus. It's knowing Him. It's knowing who He is. And out of 01:45.200 --> 01:50.900 that stems all these things that we think about as fear, reverence, awe, 01:51.460 --> 01:56.600 the trembling, etc. And kind of stepped back and like, huh, that had to 01:56.600 --> 01:59.360 been the Lord because I never thought about it like that before, and it just 01:59.360 --> 02:02.600 kind of came. So I'm like, that's pretty good, but that wasn't, definitely wasn't 02:02.600 --> 02:06.720 me. And so it kind of just stuck with me then for a few weeks, right? I just, I 02:06.720 --> 02:09.240 kept thinking about that, like what is the fear of the Lord? What is the fear 02:09.240 --> 02:13.540 of the Lord? And then, and then Pastor Mary texted and said, hey, would you 02:13.540 --> 02:17.460 want to do, you know, prayer one of these days that we're gone? Sure. And 02:17.460 --> 02:20.420 I'm sitting there thinking, I'm like, what am I gonna, what am I gonna 02:20.420 --> 02:24.900 share about what Lord, what do you want to share? And I kept thinking 02:24.900 --> 02:28.480 about the fear of the Lord conversation. I'm like, all right, I think 02:28.480 --> 02:30.680 that's what it's like, because I couldn't shake it. I couldn't shake it. 02:30.780 --> 02:35.500 But at the same time, for some reason, it was very important to me 02:35.500 --> 02:42.260 that I had to, I needed the Holy Spirit to tie that topic in with 02:42.260 --> 02:45.260 what pastors have been speaking, with what Pastor Eager has been 02:45.260 --> 02:49.000 talking about, what revival is, and pastor of our identity. And I 02:49.000 --> 02:52.380 don't know why that was, because I'm like, part of me in the natural 02:52.380 --> 02:55.160 is like, I don't want to just come in and share this topic that's 02:55.160 --> 02:57.340 kind of left field. And then we go back into, it was very 02:57.340 --> 02:59.760 important this time around to kind of share something that fit 02:59.760 --> 03:03.780 together. And so that does, that just kind of stuck with me. 03:03.900 --> 03:10.160 So as I started preparing for today, I had kind of a thought 03:10.160 --> 03:11.920 that I thought it was going to be, I thought it was going 03:11.920 --> 03:14.960 to be something along the lines of, look, we hear the fear 03:14.960 --> 03:17.940 of the Lord and everybody thinks, oh, we're scared of God, 03:17.940 --> 03:21.700 he sits on this throne and he's ready to just smite us down 03:21.700 --> 03:25.340 when we do something wrong. And there's all those things that 03:25.340 --> 03:29.000 you think about, you think of the fear of the Lord. And so 03:29.000 --> 03:32.120 like, I'm going to kind of, I wanted to share, I wanted to 03:32.120 --> 03:36.680 share, you know, what really the fear of the Lord is. That's 03:36.680 --> 03:40.660 where I was coming at it from. And I had my vision of what 03:40.660 --> 03:43.520 I thought that that looked like, like I just shared. And 03:43.520 --> 03:46.420 what I felt impressed to do was to actually go through 03:46.420 --> 03:49.560 and read all the scriptures that talk about the fear of the 03:49.560 --> 03:53.720 Lord. And I don't know if I've never actually done that with 03:53.720 --> 03:55.920 one single word before. I've never gone through and said, 03:55.960 --> 03:58.980 all right, every single verse that talks about this, let me 03:58.980 --> 04:02.760 go through and read it. And does anybody have any idea 04:02.760 --> 04:06.240 how many scriptures there are that talk about the fear of 04:06.240 --> 04:10.460 the Lord or in that same vein? Because it's a lot. There's 04:10.460 --> 04:15.460 over 300 of them. So that's a lot of pages. I'm 04:15.460 --> 04:18.920 like, oh man, there's a lot in there. And so I'm like, all 04:18.920 --> 04:22.480 right, let's start. So I started going through it. And I 04:22.480 --> 04:28.260 worked my way from Genesis to Revelation. And for the 04:28.260 --> 04:32.280 record, the interesting thing was most of those verses are 04:32.280 --> 04:35.620 in the Old Testament. There's over 250 of those are in the 04:35.620 --> 04:38.420 Old Testament. The New Testament has only about 50-ish 04:38.420 --> 04:42.560 around there, right? It's a vein, right? So that was 04:42.560 --> 04:45.820 interesting to me. But what stood out as I was going 04:45.820 --> 04:49.840 through them in the beginning part of the week was 04:49.840 --> 04:54.620 there's a lot of, I'll say, promises or results or things 04:54.620 --> 04:58.820 tied to what comes with the fear of the Lord. And I'm 04:58.820 --> 05:01.500 going to read them because it's important, not all of 05:01.500 --> 05:04.980 them, but I think it's important because if you 05:04.980 --> 05:07.440 think about what my response was when I was asked 05:07.440 --> 05:09.540 that question about the intimacy with the Lord and 05:09.540 --> 05:11.760 what does that look like and what that's what the fear 05:11.760 --> 05:13.300 of the Lord is, I'm like, well, I got to find that in 05:13.300 --> 05:17.200 Scripture. So these are some of the things that are 05:17.200 --> 05:19.260 tied with the fear of the Lord, literally in the same 05:19.260 --> 05:24.160 verse, okay? Tithing, humility, the blessing, 05:25.820 --> 05:30.320 worship, obedience, long life, wisdom, it causes us 05:30.320 --> 05:33.420 to praise Him, safety, riches, honor, salvation, 05:34.600 --> 05:39.940 mercy, the secrets of the Lord, confidence, no 05:39.940 --> 05:44.240 lack, His goodness, the Lord's goodness, it allows 05:44.240 --> 05:50.980 Him to hear us. It gives Him pleasure. And the 05:50.980 --> 05:54.320 other interesting thing was, and I don't know if 05:54.320 --> 05:57.140 this was a one-time thing or not, but it also talks 05:57.140 --> 05:59.900 about that there's a book of remembrance for those 05:59.900 --> 06:02.540 who fear the Lord. It talks about the Namalekai. 06:03.100 --> 06:05.340 I was like, well, that's interesting. Is that still 06:05.340 --> 06:08.540 going on? I don't know. That's an interesting 06:08.540 --> 06:12.520 thing to think about. So I'm kind of going through 06:12.520 --> 06:16.000 that and I'm like, that's a lot of things tied to 06:16.000 --> 06:20.620 the fear of the Lord, especially when you start 06:20.620 --> 06:22.480 thinking about that. That's all Old Testament. 06:23.840 --> 06:26.580 And so going through the week, I got about, you 06:26.580 --> 06:29.680 know, I got about to maybe Daniel or so like that. 06:29.780 --> 06:32.640 And then we go to, I accompanied Pastor Igor 06:32.640 --> 06:35.020 to the youth camp this last week to kind of, 06:35.020 --> 06:37.580 to help him and serve him there and the kids 06:37.580 --> 06:41.000 there, which was phenomenal, by the way, the message 06:41.000 --> 06:43.940 that the kids were getting throughout the week 06:43.940 --> 06:45.900 and what Pastor Igor had to share and just 06:45.900 --> 06:48.660 the reaction, it was awesome. But who knows, 06:48.820 --> 06:51.340 that youth camp, like, adults can receive as 06:51.340 --> 06:54.240 well. It's not just the kids. So that was the 06:54.240 --> 06:56.920 nice thing about that. And I'm sitting there 06:57.680 --> 07:00.460 and I don't remember, you must have said 07:00.460 --> 07:03.600 this, Pastor, but I wrote it down immediately 07:03.600 --> 07:06.040 because I felt the Holy Spirit and it was 07:06.040 --> 07:08.300 the fear of the Lord is walking in first love. 07:08.900 --> 07:11.720 It's like, huh, because he mentioned first love 07:11.720 --> 07:13.880 and then that ran through me. Like, that's the 07:13.880 --> 07:16.060 fear of the Lord. Like, another aspect of it. 07:16.940 --> 07:20.700 And that was Wednesday. And from Wednesday night 07:20.700 --> 07:23.840 to Thursday night to Friday night, my whole 07:23.840 --> 07:25.780 perspective with the Holy Spirit was showing me 07:25.780 --> 07:27.640 of, well, what's the fear of the Lord was 07:27.640 --> 07:31.860 completely changed. So I'm going to read 07:31.860 --> 07:33.160 a couple of scriptures now moving to the 07:33.160 --> 07:35.080 New Testament because what I, what you're 07:35.080 --> 07:38.460 going to see here is the Old Testament 07:38.460 --> 07:41.420 language talks about the fear of the Lord, 07:41.500 --> 07:43.660 which is reverence. It's awe. It is, there's 07:43.660 --> 07:45.880 the fear aspect of it, knowing who he is 07:46.540 --> 07:51.980 and who we are, pre Jesus, pre what he did 07:51.980 --> 07:55.080 on the cross for us. But if you look at 07:55.080 --> 07:58.960 Matthew 22 and, you know, I won't, if you 07:58.960 --> 08:00.180 want to flip to you, but we'll have 08:00.180 --> 08:05.040 them up on the screen. There's just a 08:05.820 --> 08:09.120 22 verse 34 starting there. So, but when 08:09.120 --> 08:10.520 the Pharisees heard that he had 08:10.520 --> 08:12.060 silenced the Sadducees, they gathered 08:12.060 --> 08:15.500 together, then one of them, a lawyer, a 08:15.500 --> 08:17.860 lawyer, asked him a question, him being 08:17.860 --> 08:19.060 Jesus, testing him and saying, 08:19.400 --> 08:21.020 teacher, what is the greatest commandment 08:21.640 --> 08:24.400 in the law? And Jesus said, you shall 08:24.400 --> 08:26.360 love the Lord your God with all your 08:26.360 --> 08:28.380 heart, all your soul, and all your 08:28.380 --> 08:30.020 mind. This is the first and great 08:30.020 --> 08:31.940 commandment. And the second is like 08:31.940 --> 08:33.520 it, you shall love the neighbor as 08:33.520 --> 08:36.060 yourself. On these two commandments hang 08:36.060 --> 08:38.220 all the law and the prophets. It's like, 08:38.300 --> 08:40.980 huh, somebody, all right, now I'm 08:40.980 --> 08:43.720 starting to see, all right, so when we 08:43.720 --> 08:46.200 look at Old Testament, the fear of the 08:46.200 --> 08:47.260 Lord, because they didn't have the 08:47.260 --> 08:49.820 Holy Spirit, right? But there's 08:49.820 --> 08:52.000 still that intimacy that the people 08:52.000 --> 08:55.800 that knew God, that others that didn't 08:55.800 --> 08:57.240 know him, like some of them that were 08:57.240 --> 08:59.340 more intimate with him, they 08:59.340 --> 09:01.460 recognized it. And you see that with 09:01.460 --> 09:05.400 Moses in the book of Exodus. And it's 09:05.400 --> 09:07.100 interesting, the reaction of the people 09:07.100 --> 09:09.740 that didn't have that intimacy with him, 09:10.380 --> 09:12.920 then those that did like Moses or 09:12.920 --> 09:16.380 David or Daniel. But if we read Exodus 09:16.380 --> 09:20.300 20, starting at verse 18, now all the 09:20.300 --> 09:21.680 people, and this is right after Moses 09:21.680 --> 09:24.280 gets the Ten Commandments. So Moses is 09:24.280 --> 09:25.820 up there, he's getting the Ten Commandments 09:25.820 --> 09:27.540 from the Lord. So now all the people 09:27.540 --> 09:28.780 witnessed the thunderings, the 09:28.780 --> 09:30.380 lightnings, the flashes, the sound of 09:30.380 --> 09:31.760 the trumpet, and the mountain smoking. 09:32.340 --> 09:33.640 And when the people saw it, they 09:33.640 --> 09:36.160 stood or they trembled and stood a far 09:36.160 --> 09:38.180 off. So they saw it, they saw the 09:38.180 --> 09:39.140 presence of the Lord and they were 09:39.140 --> 09:41.620 scared. The people saw that. They were 09:41.620 --> 09:43.000 like, oh man, what is happening? 09:43.620 --> 09:46.080 Like, God's gonna smite me, right? 09:46.680 --> 09:49.000 Like, he is blowing up this mountain, 09:49.420 --> 09:52.080 everything's happening. Moses, they 09:52.080 --> 09:53.660 said, they said to Moses, you speak 09:53.660 --> 09:55.620 with us and we will hear. But don't 09:55.620 --> 09:57.120 let God speak with us. We're gonna 09:57.120 --> 10:00.000 die. So they recognized it. 10:00.000 --> 10:02.200 Okay, they recognize it. And so Moses 10:02.200 --> 10:03.460 said to the people, don't fear. 10:04.200 --> 10:05.480 God has just come to test you, that 10:05.480 --> 10:07.020 his fear may be before you so that 10:07.020 --> 10:07.720 you may not sin. 10:08.220 --> 10:10.740 And so the people stood a far off, but 10:10.740 --> 10:13.260 Moses drew near the thick darkness 10:13.260 --> 10:16.920 where God was. So Moses, who had been 10:16.920 --> 10:18.220 with God, spent time with God, 10:19.700 --> 10:22.240 recognized his presence. He wasn't 10:22.240 --> 10:23.580 scared of him. He was, he was 10:23.580 --> 10:25.100 fearful of him and who he was. 10:25.980 --> 10:27.960 But Moses also knew the promise and 10:27.960 --> 10:30.120 the covenant that he had with God. And 10:30.120 --> 10:31.780 he wasn't afraid to step into that 10:31.780 --> 10:33.580 presence, where those that didn't know 10:33.580 --> 10:34.240 that were. 10:36.560 --> 10:39.120 So that is, it's all starting to click 10:39.120 --> 10:41.740 as we go throughout there. And so like 10:41.740 --> 10:42.840 I said, I was really trying to figure 10:42.840 --> 10:45.960 out, you know, the revival is, and I'm 10:45.960 --> 10:47.440 starting to see the identity component 10:47.440 --> 10:48.780 because you can see it there with 10:48.780 --> 10:50.920 Moses. He, he knows who he is, where 10:50.920 --> 10:51.680 he stands with God. 10:52.020 --> 10:54.000 Okay, and then, and then you get to, 10:54.220 --> 10:56.980 you get to the book of Luke. There's 10:56.980 --> 10:58.360 other parts too, but you go to Luke and 10:58.360 --> 11:00.400 you see the thieves on the cross. And 11:00.400 --> 11:02.740 this one, this one hit me, you know, 11:03.180 --> 11:05.460 the S'moran actually, as you think 11:05.460 --> 11:07.980 about it. But Luke 23, starting at 11:07.980 --> 11:09.740 verse 39, then one of the criminals 11:09.740 --> 11:12.900 who were hanged, my Bible doesn't 11:12.900 --> 11:15.300 open that far, hanged blasphemed 11:15.300 --> 11:16.920 him saying, if you are the Christ, 11:17.320 --> 11:19.680 save yourself and us. So you got one 11:19.680 --> 11:21.540 man sitting there mocking God. 11:22.180 --> 11:25.500 He's seeing Jesus naked on the cross, 11:25.500 --> 11:28.300 beaten, and he's like, your God, really? 11:28.580 --> 11:31.940 Not recognizing him, okay? But then the 11:31.940 --> 11:33.600 other, the other thief 11:34.320 --> 11:37.000 answered, rebuked him saying, do you 11:37.000 --> 11:40.140 not even fear God? Seeing you are 11:40.140 --> 11:42.400 under the same condemnation.
