WEBVTT 00:00.000 --> 00:04.120 I am going to cover something here that we've had numerous questions come in on. 00:04.780 --> 00:09.240 I am going to go as quickly as I can. Hopefully I don't steal too much of Pastor Igor's time, 00:09.280 --> 00:13.880 but I got to cover it thoroughly enough we understand it because it's starting to cause 00:13.880 --> 00:19.040 some confusion. I don't want any confusion. We just want good things happening. 00:19.880 --> 00:24.880 So if you get questions, please don't sit on them and think them. I wish Pastor would 00:24.880 --> 00:29.200 answer this part of it, this part, because it will start pulling on me. And then Igor, 00:29.200 --> 00:34.240 for sure, won't speak. So just write them down and get them to me. We can do this again. 00:34.340 --> 00:39.240 I am going to try to stick with my notes so I can get through this in an orderly fashion. 00:39.980 --> 00:46.220 But we are going to talk a bit about para-church ministries. And we have had questions come 00:46.220 --> 00:51.860 in several times. It has to do with the difference of how Jim operates his ministry, 00:52.380 --> 00:57.420 which he is a para-church ministry, and how Word of Life and TBO operate and conduct 00:57.420 --> 01:02.860 our services and ministries. And we have a unique situation here because we have a para-church 01:02.860 --> 01:08.520 ministry who the person doing the ministry doesn't just come to the church, but we open 01:08.520 --> 01:15.980 the church for them to do their ministry in the church. Thank God, Kerry says. She was 01:15.980 --> 01:25.120 a recipient of that. So with that unique situation, you have something that is actually 01:25.120 --> 01:30.860 kind of special as congregants. You get to look in and see how God does things differently 01:30.860 --> 01:36.360 through different people. And I want to, you know, as I go through this and explain 01:36.360 --> 01:42.160 some things, I want something very clear right from the beginning. Thank God, Jim 01:42.160 --> 01:52.180 is here. Thank God for his ministry. We are blessed to have him here. And I am 01:52.180 --> 01:57.760 not saying he is doing anything wrong or we're doing anything wrong. What I'm going to try 01:57.760 --> 02:04.240 to show you is God operates differently, not only through different people, but specifically 02:04.240 --> 02:10.880 through para-church ministries versus churches. So you get the option of being able to 02:10.880 --> 02:17.220 actually watch this in action and it's great. But if you don't understand God does 02:17.220 --> 02:23.900 things differently, it can sometimes cause questions and even confusion on what is going 02:23.900 --> 02:30.060 on. So let's hit it briefly. Jim is a para-church ministry. New Life Ministries is the name 02:30.060 --> 02:34.180 of his ministry. He's a para-church ministry. God brought him here. He's part of our 02:34.180 --> 02:39.300 congregation now, but yet he is still running his own ministry. He's not on staff here. 02:39.680 --> 02:45.980 He's running his own ministry and doing his own thing. Para-church ministries are 02:45.980 --> 02:54.380 typically special emphasis ministries. They have a specific emphasis that God has them 02:54.380 --> 03:02.740 dwelling on, and it's a specific focus for the body, for certain people, whatever. For 03:02.740 --> 03:07.440 example, I'll give you four para-church ministries here that you're aware of, if you've come 03:07.440 --> 03:11.540 here any length of time you're aware of. Tom Scorrella. What do you think about 03:11.540 --> 03:16.280 Tom Scorrella when you think he's a para-church ministry? What's his emphasis? 03:19.300 --> 03:28.220 Healing miracles for evangelism. That's Tom Scorrella. He'll lay hands on anybody, 03:28.360 --> 03:34.000 any place, any time, watch God do a miracle right there and cub foods, and then get 03:34.000 --> 03:46.110 him saved. That's him. That's how he operates. Bruce Fanata. Supernatural healing miracles. 03:47.790 --> 03:50.930 And when he's done talking, you don't misunderstand what he had to say. 03:51.890 --> 03:58.330 He has a very blunt message. That's what God made him to be, and that's cool. 03:59.730 --> 04:02.930 We've had this man here. He's set up in Princeton. Now he's working over there, 04:02.930 --> 04:06.010 but we've had him here for an open heaven meeting and so forth. Doug Stanton. 04:07.850 --> 04:12.910 You know where his uniqueness lies? He's a para-church ministry. He doesn't claim to be a church. 04:13.050 --> 04:18.550 He's a para-church ministry. But there's something very strategic God uses him in, 04:18.590 --> 04:23.870 and it starts when he starts praying for people. That's where it just goes a whole different 04:23.870 --> 04:31.310 direction than most people go. It's just how God uses him. So I'll give one other one that 04:31.310 --> 04:36.310 we see a lot, but we might not view him as a para-church ministry, but they are, 04:36.370 --> 04:41.790 which is Farmer Tom and Janet. When they come and take care of the children's ministry at open 04:41.790 --> 04:47.530 heavens times. What is unique about... What comes to your mind immediately other than, 04:47.570 --> 04:54.250 well, their children's ministers? Yeah, but what else? Pardon me? Compassion? What else? 04:56.670 --> 05:03.410 Joy? You know what I like teasing with? 05:05.930 --> 05:09.650 Mr. and Mrs. Rogers. You know, it used to be just Mr. Rogers on TV. 05:10.630 --> 05:17.150 Mr. and Mrs. Rogers have just shown up because they don't do anything that spectacular, 05:18.470 --> 05:22.050 but they can keep the kids engaged for hours. 05:23.810 --> 05:27.630 You know, when our children were small, we were doing daycare. We'd always line them up in front of 05:27.630 --> 05:36.590 the couch for Mr. Rogers' show. And it just always made me go, I don't get this till I finally 05:36.590 --> 05:42.190 realize this is a gift. This isn't anointing because you've got these two, three, four, 05:42.270 --> 05:49.350 five-year-olds watching Mr. Rogers take his sweater off, hang it on the coat rack, 05:49.910 --> 05:55.090 sit down, take these shoes off, and put his tennis shoes on, and they're like, 05:58.850 --> 06:07.750 it's amazing. And it's like, how can he hold their attention doing that every day? 06:08.830 --> 06:13.290 Same thing. You would think after two weeks, they'd go, he's going to take his tennis off, 06:13.410 --> 06:18.550 and he's going to hang his, no, they're sitting there like, did you see that? 06:19.290 --> 06:22.550 That's amazing. That's an anointing. 06:23.990 --> 06:28.370 Farmer Tom and Janet have that, especially when they pull out Benny. 06:31.590 --> 06:36.550 It's good, but that's perichurch ministries. They have their emphasis. They're designed 06:36.550 --> 06:42.750 and tailored by God to fit a certain need in the church. Churches are not perichurch 06:42.750 --> 06:48.570 ministries. A church's focus cannot be on a specific aspect of ministry, 06:49.170 --> 06:55.450 a certain type of ministry. A church is called to grow the whole person, the whole unit, 06:55.670 --> 07:03.670 not just a aspect or a focus of who they are. So perichurches, by nature of their call, 07:04.490 --> 07:10.190 emphasize a certain aspect. And it's awesome. It's not a bad thing. It's a God thing 07:10.890 --> 07:20.170 if it's understood. A church isn't allowed to just focus on an aspect. We have to cover all the bases 07:20.170 --> 07:26.290 or we get out of balance, and then that causes different problems. So we have to have the 07:26.290 --> 07:32.030 five-fold in operation as much as possible. We need to deal with every aspect of your life, 07:32.230 --> 07:37.210 even the ones you don't want to talk about. We have to bring them up sooner or later. 07:38.570 --> 07:42.790 Perichurch ministries, they don't have to do that. They can just stick with what God told 07:42.790 --> 07:47.630 them to do, and the people who want that just come. We get people to come and then God says, 07:47.690 --> 07:54.710 deal with this, and we're going, oh, God, we're going to lose some over this topic. 07:56.290 --> 08:07.190 I remember I was talking to one minister, he was speaking, and he said they were on the 08:07.850 --> 08:11.610 good solid givers yet, so they didn't have the money to keep up with the demand, 08:12.230 --> 08:17.510 and they were renting a school, and they were trying to rent as much as they could, 08:17.770 --> 08:24.430 and there was problems. But more and more people kept coming, and the pastor said, 08:24.470 --> 08:30.850 so I went to God and said, God, what do I do? I don't know how to handle this. 08:32.510 --> 08:38.930 So Jesus told him, he gave him a John 6 moment. He said, just take two Sundays to speak on tithing. 08:40.830 --> 08:47.110 You'll fix the problem. So he did. He said, I thought, well, now everybody's going to give. 08:47.710 --> 08:50.970 I'm going to speak on tithing. Now we're going to have money. He said, half of them left. 08:51.150 --> 08:57.410 He said, fix the problem. That's what happened to Jesus in John 6. He had these 08:57.410 --> 09:01.650 throngs following him, and he finally said, well, let's clean up this a little bit. 09:02.270 --> 09:05.970 And a whole bunch of them left to the point he asked his disciples, you guys leaving too. 09:07.310 --> 09:12.250 Back to the subject. See, that's what blows time. I got to stay on task here. 09:13.690 --> 09:17.010 Jim's emphasis. When you think of Jim, what do you think of? 09:19.970 --> 09:24.850 The thing that comes to me is he wants to teach people how to move in the spirit, 09:25.710 --> 09:32.510 equip them to do so, and activate them. Get them doing it. So teach on it, equip, 09:32.790 --> 09:38.010 activate them, get them going, which is awesome. And it's good, and it's needed, 09:38.130 --> 09:42.630 and the supernatural follows that. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. 09:43.290 --> 09:48.070 That's his ministry, if you want to put it in a nutshell, from my perspective. 09:50.270 --> 09:57.750 It's awesome, but as a church, it's what we have to minister on is way bigger than that. 09:57.870 --> 10:01.490 The gospel is way bigger than that. Does that mean he's wrong? No, that's who he is. 10:02.350 --> 10:06.470 That's what God asked him to do. He's doing exactly what he should be doing. It's his call. 10:07.230 --> 10:11.930 Train, equip, activate, get people moving in the spirit, get the supernatural following, 10:11.930 --> 10:18.950 signs, wonders, healings, et cetera. And it's good. It's what it should be. You say, 10:18.990 --> 10:22.110 well, why don't we do that every Sunday? Because we're not a pair of church ministry. 10:22.530 --> 10:29.010 We're a church. And we have to cover all the bases, not just one or two. 10:30.310 --> 10:35.610 So you have to spread out and cover it all to stay balanced. But like, for instance, 10:35.790 --> 10:39.750 at Jim's meetings, like even the Holy Spirit night, it's great because everyone knows 10:39.750 --> 10:45.730 what they're there for. It's a safe place to learn. It's a safe place to grow. 10:46.670 --> 10:51.510 It's not a big evangelism thrust. You don't have half the crowd as unbelievers who came 10:51.510 --> 10:54.670 and heard that we're going to have a Holy Spirit night, so they want to see what that's about. 10:55.850 --> 11:02.450 That's not what the design is. It's not what that ministry is. But you get a group of people 11:02.450 --> 11:08.650 together who are wanting more movement of God in their life. So it's safe. You know what 11:08.650 --> 11:14.650 it's all about. And it's a setting that's conducive to learning. It's a setting that's 11:14.650 --> 11:19.310 conducive to stepping out and trying some things as he teaches and activates and says, 11:19.410 --> 11:24.970 now you do it. Discovering your own gifts, challenging you, learning how to move in 11:24.970 --> 11:30.690 your gifts. It's all very good stuff. But the thing you have to realize is it's an 11:30.690 --> 11:37.990 emphasized ministry of His. And sometimes one of the questions that's come in is, 11:38.230 --> 11:42.570 well why don't we always do this in the church service? Because some mornings 11:43.510 --> 11:49.210 God doesn't want that to happen in the church service. There's other stuff that needs to 11:49.210 --> 11:56.090 be dealt with. We're not a specialized ministry. We're trying to grow the whole thing. 11:56.090 --> 12:02.050 And if you just specialize in on something, then you get out of balance. So three main 12:02.050 --> 12:08.190 questions came in. Let me hit them as quick as I can. Number one, Jim will allow most anyone 12:08.190 --> 12:13.190 to bring a word or prophecy, speak out in public to a person or to a person. Speak out to the 12:13.190 --> 12:19.070 group or to a person. In our services, like at Word of Life and TVO, we do not allow that. 12:19.470 --> 12:25.690 Why? Which is a very valid question. Number two, Jim will allow numerous prophetic words 12:25.690 --> 12:32.410 to take place in a meeting. In our services, we don't allow that. Why? And number three, 12:33.010 --> 12:38.950 Jim will allow anyone to lay hands on anybody and pray for them. In church services, 12:39.090 --> 12:45.190 we don't do that. Why? Well, I already gave you the simple answer to those three questions. 12:46.650 --> 12:53.110 Is his emphasis and focus is to teach, equip and activate people in their gifts 12:53.750 --> 13:04.230 and move in the Holy Spirit. You know coming into his setting, he expects you at some point to 13:04.230 --> 13:10.950 step up and start doing this stuff because that's his goal, is to get everybody there doing this 13:10.950 --> 13:17.230 stuff. When people know that's happening and it creates an expectation and it's good learning, 13:17.230 --> 13:24.010 good practice. In my experience, those kind of settings, there's some leniency from God because 13:24.010 --> 13:29.490 it's kind of like a classroom setting. And he has guidelines for church services and I'll explain 13:29.490 --> 13:35.290 that here in a bit, but he tends to set those aside a little bit when you've got a group of hungry 13:35.290 --> 13:40.850 people here saying, please show me how to do it and give me some room to try. God works with 13:40.850 --> 13:48.090 that. And that's Jim's services. That's his class as many of the times. They happen different in a 13:48.090 --> 13:51.530 training session. So let me go back to the first question. We'll hit them one at a time. 13:52.190 --> 13:56.890 Jim will allow most anyone to bring a word or prophecy, speak out in public or to a person. 13:57.430 --> 14:05.810 In our services, we do not allow that. Why? Another way to say it is I've had people 14:05.810 --> 14:11.230 ask it this way. Why don't we have an open mic at Word of Life or TBO? Open mic means 14:11.230 --> 14:18.430 anybody who wants to share anything, come here, here's the mic, go for it. Why don't we do that? 14:19.470 --> 14:25.770 Well, there's, I want it, we're trying to protect three areas. Number one is the person 14:25.770 --> 14:32.830 delivering the message. We're trying to actually protect you. Number two, the person or the 14:32.830 --> 14:38.330 people receiving the message. And number three, the atmosphere, the anointing. So let's take 14:38.330 --> 14:43.510 them apart. In a class or a service setting where you know it's expected, we're learning, 14:43.670 --> 14:48.070 we're growing, we're testing our gifts, trying to figure out who we are, what we flow in. 14:48.750 --> 14:53.230 When someone misses it or in other words they say, I think I've got something from God and 14:53.230 --> 14:58.890 they say it and it's like, yeah, that wasn't from God. Probably even not scriptural. 15:00.170 --> 15:07.250 Everybody in that group looks around and goes, oh, cool. I guess they missed it. We're all growing. 15:08.030 --> 15:13.330 It's okay. It's safe. Let's just keep moving forward. Hopefully it's addressed. You know, 15:13.370 --> 15:17.650 if they miss it, you got to bring it up. You can't let, behold the Lord has said, 15:17.750 --> 15:23.910 the sky is not blue, it's green. Amen, brother. Amen, we're with you. I mean, 15:23.970 --> 15:28.070 you got to correct that. Even in a class setting, you got to correct it and say, 15:28.070 --> 15:38.150 well, maybe you missed that one. Rethink that. But it's much easier to do in those settings. In 15:38.150 --> 15:41.790 a service setting where there can be numerous different kinds of people all the way from 15:41.790 --> 15:45.050 people who don't know Jesus at all yet. They haven't made him their savior. 15:45.370 --> 15:50.570 To people who've just gotten in and they're baby Christians or they're still young, they're 15:50.570 --> 15:56.850 still growing. They're dealing with things they've been taught from other sources and traditions 15:56.850 --> 16:05.110 they picked up. And they're not expecting someone to share something saying this is God 16:06.190 --> 16:13.590 and it's not God. They're going, hey, somebody got up and said, God speaking, we better listen. 16:15.330 --> 16:26.830 And if you totally miss it, now we have a problem. That happens too often. You're 16:27.550 --> 16:32.930 going to destroy the credibility of the person saying it if it continues to happen. 16:33.770 --> 16:39.790 So no matter what gift God is working in you and growing in you, if you keep missing it in front 16:39.790 --> 16:46.570 of the group too often, they're going to go, yeah, okay. And just kind of ignore you 16:46.570 --> 16:51.150 even though there could be a real gem in the making. It's just being made in the wrong 16:51.150 --> 17:00.250 place. We always answer for what we speak. It represents God. And the difficult part is, 17:00.450 --> 17:05.310 according to 1 Corinthians 14, 29, and 1 Corinthians 14 is dealing with church service 17:05.310 --> 17:08.490 settings. When you're in a church service setting, everything has to be judged. 17:09.750 --> 17:15.370 And when people get up and say things that are not God, somebody has to in the leadership 17:15.370 --> 17:21.190 has to get up and correct it. It can be embarrassing. It can be frustrating. 17:23.010 --> 17:28.950 It's so we do it to protect all the people involved, especially the one speaking. 17:29.510 --> 17:35.090 Secondly, for the person hearing the message. So if you're at a setting where, yeah, 17:35.150 --> 17:38.230 we're learning, we're growing, we're taking turns praying for each other. We're 17:38.230 --> 17:42.590 trying to hear God's voice and so forth. And somebody comes up with something that's just 17:42.590 --> 17:48.790 like, what in the world? Everybody goes, well, that's all right, we're growing, we get it. 17:49.710 --> 17:55.690 Very little damage is done to the receiver or the listener. In a service where the group is 17:55.690 --> 18:02.370 mixed and the mindset is not, we're here to practice, we're here to learn. A huge amount 18:02.370 --> 18:09.090 of damage can be done by giving information that we claim is God, but is not God. We can 18:09.090 --> 18:15.250 really damage the hearer. This isn't a game. This isn't practice. This isn't fun. 18:15.770 --> 18:22.230 You're speaking for God. If they receive it as such and there was nothing God in what you just 18:22.230 --> 18:28.990 said, if that's not corrected immediately, they can leave with huge damage coming out of that. 18:29.650 --> 18:35.750 So that's why in those church settings it has to always be judged. And make sure what's coming 18:35.750 --> 18:40.330 out is accurate, because when we miss it, it can cause confusion in them. 18:41.170 --> 18:45.750 I know people who've repelled back from God saying, yeah, I had people prophesy over me, what a joke. 18:46.730 --> 18:50.930 Well, see, it was out of order. Something was being done wrong, because when God speaks, it's 18:50.930 --> 18:56.830 never a joke. Usually he just lays you bare, and it's like, oh, I'm not sure I want to hear 18:56.830 --> 19:01.790 that. It's not, it was a joke. They said all kinds of stuff made no sense to me whatsoever. 19:02.430 --> 19:07.450 See, that was because something was allowed to happen out of order in a setting where it actually 19:07.450 --> 19:13.130 damaged the recipient. And then they began criticizing the supernatural, and sometimes 19:13.130 --> 19:17.970 they develop a skepticism all their life towards these things, which takes us back 19:17.970 --> 19:21.370 to the previous point. That's why in the church setting, Paul says, you got to judge this 19:21.370 --> 19:26.470 stuff. You can't just let her fly. And whatever happens, happens. It's got to be called 19:26.470 --> 19:30.070 to account. We've got to be accurate, because we're dealing with a mixed group. 19:31.070 --> 19:36.670 Second question. Jim allows numerous prophetic words to take place in a meeting. In our 19:36.670 --> 19:42.270 services, we do not. Here's what I mean by prophetic words, because people slice the pie 19:42.270 --> 19:48.770 a little differently sometimes. I'm referring to anything that is being said to the public 19:49.310 --> 19:53.870 like it's a message from the Lord. I don't care if it's a word of knowledge, 19:53.870 --> 19:57.190 word of wisdom, whatever it is. Well, this is what I feel the Lord is telling me, 19:57.330 --> 20:02.590 and we're delivering it not to a specific person. We're delivering it to the group. 20:03.010 --> 20:08.750 That is a prophetic utterance in my mind. First Corinthians 14-3, it's for edification or 20:08.750 --> 20:14.550 strengthening. The NIV says, exhortation or encouragement. The NIV says, and for comfort. 20:15.730 --> 20:21.530 So now, again, in a trading setting where everyone knows we're there for a purpose 20:21.530 --> 20:27.790 to grow, to learn how to do this, I believe God gives some latitude and we as people need to give 20:27.790 --> 20:34.870 latitude so that we can step in safely and give it some tries. And if we're wrong, somebody says, 20:35.050 --> 20:41.730 yeah, that probably wasn't right, but that's okay. Keep working on it. It flows differently, 20:41.730 --> 20:48.870 does very little damage. In a service where we're in a mixed group, we're not here to 20:48.870 --> 20:57.570 practice. When that setting turns into a practice place, or hey, I've got something I think is from 20:57.570 --> 21:03.110 God, and it's spoken to the group, that becomes a prophetic voice for God. 21:06.290 --> 21:10.710 Scripturally, 1 Corinthians 14 says you can have two or three messages and tongues and 21:10.710 --> 21:18.380 interpretations, and or you can have two or three prophecies. So hold it there. 21:20.020 --> 21:27.760 We don't need 15 words from God in a certain service. In fact, if you're going to get really strict on 21:27.760 --> 21:34.980 it, 12 of them weren't God, or they weren't for the group, or they were for a person that never 21:34.980 --> 21:40.980 got delivered to, or once you... here's the way I look at it. Once you cross that line and you 21:40.980 --> 21:48.360 say it's okay, how do you ever pull it back in? God put the line there for a reason. 21:48.360 --> 21:51.880 And over the course of the summer, Mary and I, we were at a church where 21:51.880 --> 21:56.120 they had more of an open mic concept, and I'll bet you they had seven or eight 21:56.120 --> 22:08.520 public words in the service. And I'm going, nope, not scriptural. Why are we doing this? 22:09.380 --> 22:14.980 Well, in 1431, 1 Corinthians 1431, it says all can prophesy. Everybody can prophesy. 22:14.980 --> 22:18.740 They can. Everybody can prophesy. We're just not all going to do it in the same service. 22:20.680 --> 22:25.180 But everybody can do it. That's not the point of whether everybody can or not. 22:25.640 --> 22:30.160 The point is, we've got all these different people saying, God is saying this, 22:30.300 --> 22:33.680 and God is saying that, and I believe God showed me this, and God showed me that. 22:34.460 --> 22:38.740 And Paul, by the Holy Spirit, very specifically limited the number on that. 22:39.020 --> 22:42.100 So that's why in a church setting, we don't let that happen. 22:42.100 --> 22:47.700 Now, when you're in a class training setting, I've seen it happen five, six, seven times, 22:47.880 --> 22:53.600 and all of them were God. Because again, you've got a different group there. You've got a group 22:53.600 --> 22:57.880 there who understands what we're doing. We're learning. We're growing. It's safe. We're all 22:57.880 --> 23:02.180 saved. We all understand the gifts of the Spirit. That's why Jim always teaches 23:02.180 --> 23:05.280 before he does these things to try to get everybody on the same page. 23:05.540 --> 23:10.520 So when God starts training and working and dealing with people, it flows. 23:11.160 --> 23:17.360 Everybody's going the same direction. In a church service, we don't know that's happening, 23:17.360 --> 23:21.480 because you have visitors dropping in at any time, and they should be allowed to drop in 23:21.480 --> 23:28.440 without leaving, going, wow, that was really weird. I'm just being honest. 23:30.640 --> 23:34.240 And I'll tell you one other reason why in my mind it's not good to have, 23:34.520 --> 23:36.900 why the Holy Spirit would have said that. Why would He limit them? 23:37.880 --> 23:43.920 Because if it becomes too numerous, we tend to get nonchalant about it. 23:47.090 --> 23:53.910 Technically speaking from Scripture, if someone is giving some form of prophetic message, 23:54.490 --> 24:06.520 you are speaking for God. That is a big deal. If you're actually speaking for God, 24:06.520 --> 24:11.500 if God is actually speaking to me through you, this is huge. 24:14.220 --> 24:21.740 If you put it in context of who really is God, and now he's taking time to speak 24:22.440 --> 24:26.860 through this person. Do you know how you know when it's become too nonchalant? 24:28.020 --> 24:30.880 You can't remember next week what he said last week. 24:32.680 --> 24:37.500 Oh, I had three prophecies over me last week. What were they? Oh, something about, 24:41.180 --> 24:46.280 yeah, give me a minute. Give me a minute. That's not, that's bad. 24:47.920 --> 24:55.660 We have diminished something that's very holy down to Kim and I are just talking. Well, 24:55.680 --> 24:58.620 what did she say? Well, I don't know. Give me a minute. It was two days ago, 24:58.620 --> 25:01.100 she said it. I mean, that's a long time. I got to think about this little bit. 25:01.860 --> 25:06.300 Once God is in that category, we are mishandling the gifts. 25:07.900 --> 25:15.980 When he speaks, this should be remembered, written down, this should be life changing. 25:17.420 --> 25:22.320 I mean, show me one place in Scripture where God spoke that wasn't life changing. 25:25.680 --> 25:30.500 There is none. Every time he spoke to the Israelites, every time he spoke to the church, 25:30.560 --> 25:34.820 every time it's like, well, God is speaking, wake up, this is big. 25:35.960 --> 25:41.220 But yet in our charismatic circles, it's like, oh, we just hand out prophecies like candy. 25:42.140 --> 25:44.480 And it's like, I think 98% of them aren't God. 25:47.840 --> 25:52.820 So last question. Jim will allow anyone to lay hands on and pray for them we don't. 25:52.820 --> 25:59.280 Again, remember his call, his gifting. He's a paratroop ministry with a specific emphasis. 26:00.000 --> 26:08.040 He works in nurturing like a teacher to a student. So it's kind of hard to say, 26:08.980 --> 26:12.140 here, let me show you how to do math, but I never want you doing math. 26:14.000 --> 26:17.620 At some point, you can show them two and two is four and then say, now you do it. 26:18.780 --> 26:25.620 If you want them to learn math, okay? So you've got to keep that in mind. So if he's saying, 26:25.700 --> 26:30.740 hey, the scripture says this, we can lay on hands and people can be healed, miracles can 26:30.740 --> 26:36.920 take place, all kinds of stuff can happen, but don't ever do it. Well, he's never going to 26:36.920 --> 26:40.540 activate you. He's never going to equip you. He's never going to help you. 26:41.480 --> 26:50.200 So in that setting, everybody again, it's likely a smaller group. It's people who know each other, 26:50.340 --> 26:56.980 know what they're there for. It's much safer because laying on a hand is a very, very powerful 26:56.980 --> 27:02.900 thing. It releases a transfer of anointing. Godly anointing is what's supposed to be transferred. 27:03.180 --> 27:08.940 There's a spiritual energy or power that can transfer when you lay on hands. But guess 27:08.940 --> 27:15.800 what? There's also demons that can transfer when you lay on hands. It can work both ways. 27:16.860 --> 27:20.300 So when I don't know the person and we're in a bigger group and there's 27:20.740 --> 27:25.120 people here that I don't know and they want to come and pray for somebody, I won't let them do it. 27:26.840 --> 27:30.220 I don't know who they are. They could be a witch, they could be a warlock, 27:30.340 --> 27:34.800 they could be a satan worshiper, just waiting for an opportunity to go load somebody up with 27:34.800 --> 27:40.000 some demons. I don't know who they are, waiting for an opportunity to put a curse on somebody. 27:40.960 --> 27:44.680 It's like, no, I got to know you a little better because I actually believe when you 27:44.680 --> 27:50.200 lay on hands there will be a supernatural transfer of power. I believe that with all my heart. 27:51.560 --> 27:54.420 So if I believe that, then we have to handle it that way. 27:55.760 --> 28:02.540 If I know a person who is living in willful sin, we're all struggling and growing, 28:02.540 --> 28:10.640 but I mean talking willful sin, I won't let them lay hands on. Because what's in you will jump. 28:11.260 --> 28:18.080 I've seen it way too many times. Well pastor, I just feel that I want to lay hands on somebody for 28:18.080 --> 28:24.660 healing. But you crawled out of bed with who knows who on the come to church this morning. 28:25.640 --> 28:28.580 And it's like, yeah, probably not going to let you do that. 28:30.260 --> 28:34.160 Oh, I'm not good enough has nothing to do with you being good enough or bad enough. 28:34.900 --> 28:42.520 It has to do with I'm nervous what you brought with you that is going to jump to that person. 28:44.300 --> 28:48.320 And it can go both ways. It can go from the person who's being prayed for to the prayer, 28:49.100 --> 28:52.780 or most of the time it goes from the prayer to the person who's being prayed for. 28:53.020 --> 28:56.420 But I remember one specific time I didn't have my guard up the way I should have. 28:56.420 --> 28:59.280 It was a Sunday night service. I knew everybody there. 29:00.300 --> 29:04.500 Usually Sunday nights a lot of visitors don't show up. So it's our people. 29:04.820 --> 29:06.820 And we had a prayer line. I went down the prayer line. 29:07.300 --> 29:13.900 Next morning I woke up with the strongest desire to commit adultery than I've ever had in my life. 29:14.820 --> 29:19.820 It was just like, I got to go find somebody. This is going to be awesome. 29:19.820 --> 29:28.040 And it's like, you know, I'm smart enough to know. What? Where is this coming from? 29:29.000 --> 29:33.380 It took me all day. By evening the Lord said, such and such lady you laid hands on. 29:34.000 --> 29:38.980 She's carrying this. And it jumped because you didn't have your guard up. 29:39.820 --> 29:43.480 Kick it out. So I kicked it out. And within about five minutes it's like, 29:43.920 --> 29:45.940 I can't believe I was actually thinking that way. 29:46.760 --> 29:49.720 It was just a flop to a different way of thinking. 29:50.620 --> 29:55.060 So you can't just take somebody who you know. And it's, we're all growing. 29:55.180 --> 30:00.040 I'm not saying you have to be perfect. But there's people who are in flat out disobedience, 30:00.140 --> 30:04.460 rebellion to God. They're doing it their way. And they're going to continue doing it their way. 30:04.720 --> 30:08.700 You can't let them lay hands on somebody because that will transfer. 30:09.720 --> 30:13.300 And instead of helping the person, you're actually going to load them up with stuff 30:13.300 --> 30:19.960 they don't need. So I guard that. And also if someone doesn't come to the church regularly, 30:20.720 --> 30:24.080 I don't know you well enough. I don't know what's going on in your life. 30:25.140 --> 30:30.280 I don't have to sit down and talk with you and have lunch. I just need two minutes standing by you. 30:31.120 --> 30:34.440 And I'll know where you're at. And if you don't come often enough, 30:34.520 --> 30:37.120 all of a sudden you show up and you want to, well, I used to come to church here 30:37.120 --> 30:43.260 three months ago, Pastor Verne. I was here. I want to pray for it. No, you're not 30:43.260 --> 30:47.900 nothing's wrong with you. I don't know what you've been into. 30:49.460 --> 30:56.600 And I consider laying on of hands a holy thing that will absolutely, absolutely produce supernatural 30:56.600 --> 31:01.700 results because the spiritual power will transfer. I just want to make sure it's the right one. 31:02.780 --> 31:09.420 So my job is to teach and encourage, make ways possible, grow and watch over and protect and 31:10.040 --> 31:14.560 and keep an eye on the big thing. And in the smaller class type setting, 31:15.260 --> 31:19.440 hopefully everybody knows each other. We know what's going on and it's much easier to manage. 31:20.220 --> 31:25.980 So real briefly, the process here, we want the gifts to operate. Most Spirit-filled churches 31:25.980 --> 31:31.000 don't let gifts operate in a service. Why? Because it gets out of control. It's weird. 31:31.780 --> 31:38.400 We want them to operate, but we want you to filter through the people who are 31:39.420 --> 31:45.480 going to answer for the service. Let me say it that way. And usually those people are in that front 31:45.480 --> 31:51.760 row. It's either me, my wife, Pastor Igor, Pastor Tanya. Sometimes guest speakers are there with us. 31:51.840 --> 31:55.820 We're going to answer for it. So if you feel God's giving you something, just come on over, 31:56.240 --> 31:59.700 get our attention during present worship or what it could be during a message. Just walk on over 31:59.700 --> 32:03.240 and whisper to Pastor Igor, hey, this is what I'm hearing. This is what I'm feeling. You 32:03.240 --> 32:08.300 think this is God? And we feel good about it. We'll go with it. You say, well, 32:08.300 --> 32:13.760 feel good about it. What does that mean? We already know the direction of the service coming in. 32:15.220 --> 32:18.840 It's rare. Occasionally I'll get up and say, I have no idea where this is supposed to go. 32:19.580 --> 32:23.680 That's rare. We already have heard and say, this is where it's supposed to go. 32:24.100 --> 32:27.940 This is how it's supposed to get there. We know what God is trying to establish. 32:29.080 --> 32:32.360 We're going to measure against that. We're going to measure against what you're 32:32.360 --> 32:36.880 sharing. Is it scriptural? We're going to measure against, is it just for you or 32:36.880 --> 32:40.960 is this for the congregation? You heard God. Absolutely. I don't think it's for the 32:40.960 --> 32:44.720 congregation though, or I don't think it's for this time, or it might be just for you. 32:45.120 --> 32:49.160 And that's all good. It's all growing. It's all learning. But we want the gifts to operate, 32:49.240 --> 32:54.740 and that's how we're trying to screen it so it can happen. And yet it doesn't get funny. 32:55.160 --> 33:00.520 Weird, whatever. I know I let it happen last Sunday. In fact, I asked for it to happen 33:00.520 --> 33:06.160 last Sunday. I said, we're not done here yet. God's got some things. And I had a few 33:06.160 --> 33:10.060 people come forward. I said, come to me and tell me what you got. Let's see what you got. 33:10.820 --> 33:18.220 And that's all good. But on a normal Sunday, we prefer you go around and talk to the people 33:18.220 --> 33:26.280 over there and screen it through them because, number one, on video, who you've got all kinds 33:26.280 --> 33:32.660 of people watching the video, all of a sudden somebody comes up and stands here. It looks like 33:32.660 --> 33:39.000 what? And then whoever's in charge comes and leans over and they're talking. You know what's 33:39.000 --> 33:42.680 going to go through their mind? Couldn't they have found a better place to talk about where 33:42.680 --> 33:47.240 they're going off for lunch or whatever they're talking about? It's going to look goofy because 33:47.240 --> 33:51.620 they're not in the mindset we're in. And it's going to be a distraction to them. 33:52.800 --> 33:56.440 And then the person in front is trying to follow the spirit and now they got a kind 33:56.440 --> 34:01.260 of hopefully the band's still going because I've had it happen when it's just talking going on. 34:01.260 --> 34:08.420 Somebody comes and now we're talking. And everybody's going like, okay. And for two minutes, 34:08.420 --> 34:12.940 nothing's going on except you're listening real hard trying to hear. What are they saying? 34:13.140 --> 34:21.360 What are they talking about? It's just a poor way of communication and it can be done better. 34:21.800 --> 34:25.280 So clear it through the people who are available over there in that front roll. 34:25.880 --> 34:30.740 And also I'm going to request, and we don't have much of this, thank God. I'm also going 34:30.740 --> 34:35.460 to request just don't blurt out a prophecy or speaking in tongues interpretation. Don't just 34:35.460 --> 34:40.160 blurt it out. If you've got something, come tell us. It'll witness with us. Now there's 34:40.160 --> 34:44.760 times I'll say somebody's got something. Who is it? Well, then now you've got permission to go for 34:44.760 --> 34:54.260 it. But just all of a sudden blurt it out. Again, it's we have no idea where you're 34:54.260 --> 34:58.180 going with this. And it can literally take a whole service that was going this way 34:58.840 --> 35:05.260 and turn it to go that way. And it wasn't God. So then when you try to turn it back, 35:05.580 --> 35:09.340 you're always going to have those few people who can't feel it in their spirit that, yeah, 35:09.420 --> 35:12.500 we shouldn't have went that way. We should have stayed this way. You'll always have those 35:12.500 --> 35:16.500 few who say, oh, why didn't you do what they said? I thought it was a good idea. 35:18.220 --> 35:21.480 Only buddy who's got any authority here appears to be you, huh? 35:22.360 --> 35:26.840 And it's like, we don't need the confusion. We don't need the distraction. 35:27.280 --> 35:30.300 There's just a better way to do it. And that's all we're trying to do. 35:30.900 --> 35:35.300 But that's the reason most spirit filled churches don't allow the gifts of the spirit to flow. 35:35.900 --> 35:41.200 So I just wanted to separate. Can you punch something out in half an hour? Okay. 35:43.200 --> 35:48.140 Message number two is coming up. I just wanted to separate to help us understand, 35:48.260 --> 35:51.860 because they're the same kind of questions keep coming in. And it's like, well, the 35:51.860 --> 35:59.720 difference is basically perichurch ministry to church ministry and the focus, the emphasis. 36:00.120 --> 36:06.720 If you will divide it out into that, it'll make perfect sense to you why Jim operates the way he 36:06.720 --> 36:21.990 does, why we operate the way we do. And if you have more questions, shoot them in. We'll take
