How often should I get a sump pump inspection?

In the Boerne area, once a year is the sensible rhythm, ideally before storm season in late winter and again in early autumn. Hill Country sediment and wear can compromise a pump in a single year, so an annual sump pump inspection confirms the system is ready before the storms arrive rather than after.

What does a sump pump inspection include?

A full inspection tests the pump by filling the pit, checks the float switch and check valve, traces the discharge line, flushes pit sediment, and tests any battery backup and alarm. Each check maps to a common failure, so a complete sump pump inspection confirms the whole system works end to end, not just that the pump hums.

Can I test my own sump pump between inspections?

Yes, partly. Pouring a bucket of water into the pit and confirming the pump switches on and clears it is a useful self-check. A professional sump pump inspection goes further, cleaning sediment, testing the backup battery, and checking the discharge path, so pairing the two is the most reliable way to stay protected.
