Should I Use Wordpress?

It is easier than ever before to make a website today. With all these content management systems (Wordpress, Squarespace, Wix) , people can create professional-looking and well-functioning websites within 24 hours. This all sounds great but the reality is that custom sites may be more costly and difficult to maintain, but they still offer a lot that a Wordpress site couldn’t.

So the question is: What is right for you?

Wordpress

Wordpress is perfect for small businesses or individuals who want a simple website with easy access to update or maintain it. It takes seconds to integrate a new theme, or a new font, or add a new blog.

The premium and business plan already offer a lot. Custom domain, SSL certificate, live chat support, Google Analytics, custom CSS, custom plugins, and 200GB of storage. All that for $8-25 a month (depending on which plan). Check out Wordpress pricing here.

Custom Website (from scratch)

There is a lot of value in a Wordpress site but is unmatchable with a custom site built from scratch. It’s more expensive but for good reason. The main difference is that custom sites have no limits to what it can do.

Businesses who rely on eCommerce revenue will be constricted if they use Wordpress or Shopify as they won’t have the flexibility in the long term. Advanced SEO tools such as XML sitemaps, structured data (Schema), OG protocols, and even AMPs are able to be easily integrated into a custom website because of the direct access to the code.

Small businesses who rely on eCommerce revenue and big businesses should use a custom website.
