What is Tag?
Tag is a desktop application for Windows
and Mac used for cutting-edge document generation. It turns
static documents into dynamic data-driven documents. The data
from generated documents can be captured and exported for
analysis.
Is Tag free to use?
Yes. The Community subscription is free to
use and never expires. Most features are available in the free
version including simple apps, data setup editing, template
editing, form creation, data entry and generation preview.
Document generation is also supported up to a maximum of 3 free
generations (documents saved to a file) per month.
What additional features
do paid subscriptions include?
Paid subscriptions offer unlimited
generation (documents saved to a file). In future versions, some
team-level features may also be limited to paid subscriptions.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. New accounts receive a 30-day free
trial which includes unlimited document generation. After the
trial ends you can purchase a paid (Individual) subscription or
continue to use the free (Community) subscription.

What information do I need
to provide when creating an account?
We require minimal personal information.
You only have to provide an email address, first and last name
when creating an account. You also have to choose a unique
account name and password to use when logging in.
What if I can't remember
my account name?
The login screen is displayed when you
first run Tag as a desktop application on Windows or Mac
computers. It has a link to click if you forget your account
name that will send an email to the address provided when you
created the account.
What if I can't remember
my password?
The login screen also has a link to reset
your password. Clicking this link will cause an email to be sent
to the address provided when you created the account. The email
will contain a temporary password.
Do I have to
login every time I start Tag?
No. The login screen has a checkbox called
"Remember me". If this is checked, Tag will remember your
account name and password on the computer you are using. There
are two ways to logout of Tag using the Account menu (in the
top-right corner): "Sign out and exit" and "Exit and remember
me" (the default choice). If you choose the former, the
remembered account name and password will be discarded and you
will have to login again the next time you run Tag. Note that
every 30 days Tag will force you to login again to ensure it is
still you.

Onboarding services and how can you access them

What are onboarding
services?
Onboarding is a service we offer to help
subscribers get started quickly using best practices. It
includes direct support from our team using email, virtual
chats and phone.
What kind of help can I
get during onboarding?
The most common onboarding service is
providing help creating smart content. This involves taking your
existing static documents and converting them to dynamic
data-driven reports. Onboarding also provides a way for you to
access some advanced features (see below).
How much does onboarding
cost?
We charge a flat rate of US$100 per hour in
most cases. For new accounts, the first 2 hours is available
free of charge. For larger chunks of work, a fixed price fee can
be calculated.
Is onboarding only
available for new accounts?
No. Onboarding services are available at
any time. Whether you are learning a new feature set, or simply
short on time, we are dedicated to helping you become productive
quickly using Tag. We also appreciate the opportunity to
discover new ways to use smart content, and to learn more about
the industries you work in.
Advanced features
Issues related to advanced features that are not in the standard Tag user interface

Answers
Can I generate multiple
documents at one time?
Yes. The generation of multiple documents
can drive off CSV files or more advanced task pipelines. Task
pipelines are defined using the powerful XProc
3.0 open standard. Tag can run XProc pipelines, but does
not yet have an app to display them. Either approach can be
easily setup during onboarding.
How can I use knowledge
graphs?
The Knowledge graphs app is still under
development and is not yet part of the standard Tag user
interface. During onboarding this app can be made visible after
confirming its applicability. Some features of knowledge graphs
are not yet supported and attempts to display graphs that use
them may cause issues.
How can I use machine
learning?
The use of machine learning algorithms in
Tag is subject to additional (affordable) per-use fees. By
default these features are hidden, however they can be made
visible during onboarding. When visible these features are
presented as new menu items and panels within the Smart content
app.
How can I use remote
services?
Tag can call remote services on your behalf
(e.g., to access customer data). The results are usually
returned as JSON data which must be converted into a CSV or XML
data file. This requires some simple customization that can be
implemented during onboarding.
