Why is my furnace blowing cold air or not turning on?

A furnace that blows cold air or will not start usually points to the ignition system, the flame sensor, the draft inducer, or the blower motor rather than the thermostat. A technician tests the sequence of operation to find the specific failed part instead of guessing. One Hour Ogden diagnoses the fault and gives the repair cost upfront before any work begins. Is a cracked heat exchanger dangerous?

Yes. The heat exchanger separates combustion gases from the air your home breathes, and a crack can let carbon monoxide, which is odorless and colorless, into the living space. A thorough furnace repair includes inspecting the heat exchanger and testing for carbon monoxide. When a crack is found, the safe response is to stop running the furnace and review a replacement.

Should I repair or replace my furnace?

A furnace under about a dozen years old with a single failed part is almost always worth repairing. One near or past twenty years facing a major failure like a cracked heat exchanger is often better replaced, especially given the efficiency gain of a new condensing furnace. An honest technician gives you the age, repair cost, and system condition so you can decide.
